  1. I specifically didn't mention signings, standings, or statistics in my initial post because those are all very polarizing topics. For example - I 100% agreed with the JT Miller signing. He's had amazing years for us, and I am still ok with it. Some players on the team are thriving, JT is still having a really solid year. The TEAM is not. So I am not about to judge players in the midst of this hurricane that is happening with the entire franchise. (Not everyone is going to agree with the take on JT, so I didn't mention it initially). I don't care where we place this year right now. I'd love a lottery pick. I'd love to get into playoffs. What is bothering me is this CULTURE and the constant RED FLAGS that keep coming up on this management's watch. Combined with our season standings, this culture that is being set and the red flags that are constantly coming up would be MORE than enough for me to can this management group, take the loss, and start over again.
  2. This experiment and attempted franchise turn-around has turned into an absolute travesty, and is going to have irreparable damage very soon. There is just absolutely no way, being a business owner and paying someone to make these decisions, you can sit by and let it continue. Is Allvin not our GM? Or is Rutherford our GM? When is the last time Allvin has actually spoken publicly to the fans? Rutherford seems to be doing all the talking, and the talking he does is putting this franchise in a dark hole. From a PR perspective (Doerrie, Pearson, Tocchet, Boudreau, Boeser, Horvats contract, etc) it has been HORRIBLE. I wouldn't put up with it, and quite frankly I am surprised Aquilini is also. The CULTURE. This team has been built absolutely terribly since these guys took over. We HAD character and great role-players. Looking at you Lammiko, Mott, and Chiasson. Hard workers, in your face, penalty killing role players. Gutted. Gone. These are the players that contribute to Playoff and Cup runs. Looking at YOU Kesler, Burrows, Hansen, Higgins, Torres.... This team has been built with absolutely no identity. The DRAFT. Sorry, Lekkerimaki.... totally frustrated with that one. The DRAMA. There is a big part of me that doesn't trust these "Insiders" like Friedman, Batch, Dhali. But if there IS truth to what's being put out there these days it is totally unacceptable. All signs are pointing to COACHING CHANGE? All signs should be pointing to a MANAGEMENT CHANGE. They've been an absolute disgrace to this club. Every time I hear Rutherford speak (not Allvin, because does he ever speak?), I feel like there is this black cloud getting bigger and bigger with acid rain falling on whatever foundation has been holding this franchise up, when it should be the sun getting a little bit brighter the further we go... At this point I wouldn't even care of Aqua took over as interim GM. People may say that Aqua pulls the strings here. But I do find it hard to believe that he's happy with the negative press that keeps building around his company and it's going to be affecting his pocket book.
  3. DRAFTING Of the past 7 (SEVEN!) years, we only have 2 (TWO!) players that have made any sort of significant impact. 1. Petterson 2. Hughes I'm not including Podkolzin or Hoglander. From what I have seen both are low hockey IQ players whom I do not have faith in at all at becoming strong contributors to an NHL team, which as resulted in assignment to the AHL. Two players. 7 drafts. 46 players drafted. To me, this is an absolute travesty and is another major factor as to why we are in such a catastrophic position right now. But maybe this is normal when you compare it to the entire NHL, I don't know the stats. But it doesn't look good. Draft better?
  4. This is not super surprising to me as the Canucks did turnover their entire Player Performance personnel this year. I would wonder what quality of preparation the players actually had this offseason...
  5. I dont think there is any point in debating Horvats cap ceiling Landeskog In no universe should Horvat be getting any more than Landeskog. I'd be 100% fine with Horvat @ 7mil x 8 years, although less would be nice, but I am fine with 7. Just not more.
  6. Re-sign Miller 7/8x9m Re-sign Horvat 8x7m Trim the fat bottom 6 contracts over the next year or 2 (Dickinson, Poolman, Pearson, Myers) Cap goes up And lets make a legitimate run for the Cup for the next 5-6 years (STARTING this season). If you don't think we are contending this year, you are a fool. Now IS our time to be going for it (just like Calgary is). This whole perpetual trade/draft/rebuild bullsh** is people living in complete fantasy-land that have serious issues with sticking to something and making small adjustments to make sure the investment will pay off. Run with what we got and L.F.G. There is absolutely no point in worrying about what is going to happen 8 years from now... Now.
  7. 6.5-7mil x 8 is a perfect contract for Bo. I don't think he should be getting more than Landeskog (7mil/year) and would be very happy with him making that.
  8. Totally. We are lucky to have this on our team!
  9. I think there are more ways to being elite than scoring goals and racking up points. So when I say elite, I mean he is elite at what he is - one of the best Centers and face-off guys in the league.
  10. Trading Bo away will set this franchise back SO much further than people realize. 1475 Face-off taken with a 57% FOW. 4th most Face-offs in the entire league. Losing this, I don't even know how the team can make this up. Bo is elite. And coming off his 30 goal campaign I am REALLY excited to see how he does going into next year. I don't care if he doesn't fight or hit, a good leader doesn't have to and everything JR has eluded to states his Captaincy is very beneficial to the team. Horvat should be looking at a very similar contract to Landeskog in my opinion. 7m x 8. Which is extremely doable with the teams cap structure. I'd love Bo to be here forever. The team needs him. It's going to be a great year.
  11. Everyone knows the hole this team dug itself in for the first 2 months of the season. Everyone has seen the exciting rise the team performed for the remainder of the season. There is absolutely no reason to make any changes to the core. This team is filled with absolute workhorses and is exactly what is needed for playoff performances. Miller, Horvat, Pettersson, Boeser, Podkolzin, Garland, Ekman-Larsson, Myers, Schenn, Hughes, DEMKO, 4th line.... These dudes are solid. Yes, they make some gaffs, but every single player in the league will make gaffs. When you watch a team every single night, you will see mistakes. But guess what, if you were to watch any other team (Tampa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, NYR, Florida...) every single night you will start to see mistakes as well. No team is perfect Anything can happen in the playoffs I am pretty darn excited to see what this team can do in 22/23. For those that want a tear down or to sell off our top assets, stop living in fantasy land and start realizing this team is actually really good. They proved it this season even without making the playoffs. Everyone wants new shiny toys when we have some pretty stellar shiny toys right in front of our eyes. If anything can be upgraded on, it could really be our 3C position. If this team is to make any trade I would expect it to be a guy like Dickinson or Poolman, to clear a bit of cap space to make room for Miller and Boeser. Yes, Boeser. I would be shocked if he doesnt pot 30+ next season. Stop thinking big changes need to happen. This team is good. Playoffs are coming in 2023 for Vancouver, and then anything can happen.
  12. If Johnson is there at 9 you better take him. Why? High character Insanely skilled He has put on size His hockey IQ is elite Most importantly to me - his drive is out of this world. He is excited, LOVES the game and does everything he can to get better (skating, skills, etc). He has this attitude that he wants to be the best and succeed, something I don't see in alot of players. Similarly I equate KJ to the engine that Hoglander has. I've had the privilege of working with Kent, I won't say how, but he is an impressive young man. He'd be my choice!
  13. I have never realized how much Bieksa understood the game until this last year listening to him on the Sportsnet panel. We saw Burr take a position with the Habs, would've loved for him to be here but I understand his Quebec roots which is exciting for him. Bieksa is the EXACT person I want running this team's D-core. If Benning and Aqualini can't see this, I am going to be extremely disappointed. Fan-favourite, extremely smart, seems like he would do great. Thoughts?
