I'm just happy to be here, great change of scenery, looking forward to the second phase of my NHL career

Trade our 2022 first rounder for Player Name, get a replica jersey of the other team's best player, and dress him up as said player (kidnap the real one for the duration of the game). Imagine Edmonton trying to play the McDavid line, but instead of McDavid they've got Mr Concrete hands and feet... Make me the coach. Im full of great ideas like this.

On the bright side, if we can get to 1-100, we've got a decent chance of draft Shane Wright! Can't wait to teach him how to dump and chase. -

Yep. But I don't know what he expected, he filled his staff with guys that have never successfully coached an NHL team and gave them total ownership over incredibly important parts of the game. In what world is Jason King qualified to have total ownership over an NHL team's powerplay? Even the strategy itself - all perimeter shots - I'm sure that works great in the AHL where the skill level of goalies is significantly less than the NHL, of course it doesn't translate well when goalies are good enough to stop everything they can see and the vast majority of stuff that they cant. Every good powerplay gets other the other team moving to open up lanes. We were lucky to get the offensive zone time we did, the only reason we got it is Nashville doesn't pressure, just like we don't. -

"King on the powerplay.. there's a lot of communication about.. you know.. I think the players have to have a little onus in it too, how it runs". Yeah, why aren't the players helping out with coaching?! there's 20+ of them and only a couple coaches. -

Glad im not the only one who noticed. All the falling + he looks exactly the same as he did last year. I dont want to assume - but did he go to the gym or put on skates at all during the off season? -

I know a certain Swedish player name with a comparable size contract to EP that may be available.. could be a great change of scenery for both of them -

Green has no clue that his system sucks. Guaranteed here's the notes for next practice: - Move less - Shoot from further out - Dump the puck in and go off on a line change so I can try out more new lineups -

I dont think so - its still Baumgartner. Shaw advises on all areas except goaltending. But its Baumers PK and King's PP. -

In 56 games tho.. thats 28 over 82 games. Plus he had 31 assists which put him at nearly a ppg. Far from atrocious -

I mean.. per goal, petey is still the most expensive out of that batch for now haha. and whats wrong with Tavares' 4 goals? Thats almost a 35 goal per full season pace. -

Tbh I actually think our team is really good talent wise. Im sure we all notice - its the new players that are coming in and doing impressive things - Garland, OEL, Podz, Bailey... Almost like they haven't had time yet to learn our cup winning dump-and-chase, and passive-box systems from King and Baumgartner. But look our D corps, we've got 2 elite #1 Defensemen (OEL, Hughes). 2 great shutdown Defensemen (Poolman and Hamonic). And a really good top 4 guy (Myers). We've got 7 proper top 6 forwards too - Miller, Petey, Boeser, Horvat, Garland, Hoglander, Pearson. Even with injuries, we've got a really solid bottom 6 of NHL players, unlike the carousel of AHL guys we had filling out the bottom of our lineup last year. We're great on paper, with atrocious systems and coaching on all counts except goaltending. -

Hes right though - the passive box with OEL or Hughes limp wristing a point shot is too complicated. Here's my simple powerplay plan: - Skate it to center, dump it in, do NOT chase - hang out around the blue line so you can skate back into our zone and retrieve it faster, then simply repeat. -

Agreed. Overall I think our problem is Jason King doesn't do ENOUGH coaching. Why is he just coaching the power play? Shouldn't he be coaching Demko too? I'd also like to see him head over to the opposing teams bench and do some power play coaching for them too. Look its simple - King is a great coach, just doesn't have enough experience. Do the things above, and watch what happens. -
Problem is not the strategy, its the execution. Green's strategy is to have everyone stand perfectly still in a box and pass it back and forth. Yet Hughes doesn't buy in at all - as soon as he gets the puck, he starts moving around. If Hughes would just plant his feet, we'd be fine. Hopefully OEL can do this better.
