  1. I also REALLY hope they dont let Bear walk Hes not getting nearly enough credit for what he was and what he brought I think he probably has more to offer as well, hes just now entering his prime. We cant afford to lose him.
  2. Thats kinda what gives me hope, is in his 1st year with us he looked like a seriously upgraded older Edler. He was reading passing lanes brilliantly, had great gap control, blocked shots, but could actually exit the zone cleanly and was a major threat on the powerplay with his point shot wrister that always got through. I daresay in that 1st year, he looked like a 6 million dollar defensive-defenseman who could skate and be an offensive threat.
  3. Yeah I mean I agree - I think OEL was particularly bad with Myers but Myers was bad with everyone. OEL was fine on other pairs. I expect OEL will also be better next year without his injury. I don’t think OEL is a total disaster, but ofc I do wish we had kept the salary cap room + the 1st rounder, as I think there were better moves other than getting OEL/Garland
  4. Yeah people don’t recognize competent management b/c they haven’t seen it since GMMG PA and the hairless compadres are very very competent. Professional scouting department is way better than Bennings “oh I saw him play against us 6 years ago and he dominated, let’s ignore all analytics and experts and acquire him”
  5. Nobody here in their right mind would be arguing that the OEL trade was a good one But not every trade where we give up a 1st = the OEL trade
  6. Agreed, draft picks should always be kept Imagine where we'd be today without 1st round core pieces Virtanen, Juolevi, Podkolzin, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Jensen, McNally, and Schroeder. The salary cap has turned the NHL into a game of moneyball. Draft picks carried far more value in the pre-cap era, when you could draft a guy and keep him forever because you could keep paying him whatever he was worth without getting rid of another player. In fact good quality players would RARELY ever walk to free agency, and it would be exceedingly difficult to pick up a difference maker in a trade. after all - if theres no cap, why would a team trade away a top player without getting an equally good player or set of players in return? A home run draft pick now buys you 3 cost controlled years, and after that, you can pick up good players in free agency/trade. So what should you use draft picks for? Use them to swing for the fences - HOME RUN players that you cant get in UFA or trade. Those are players youre likely to find in the top-5 most draft years, this year probably theres a few more in the top-10. If theres nobody that projects to be a home run where we're picking, trade the pick. We weren't likely to get a home run player that far down in the draft (islanders pick), so flipping horvat into a top pairing RD made a ton of sense.
  7. Size would be nice but I still feel like too many GMs pay a premium for size in the draft players get taken way earlier than they should because of their size And likely end up being disappointments that being said if we can get a big player that has tons of potential but gets undervalued for other reasons (like klimovich for coming from a completely unknown league) I’m all for it Dvorsky is getting overvalued for his size and the relative “safety” of taking him. I’m pretty certain he’s gone before #11
  8. this is exactly right if you have a pick at #11 in this stacked of a draft and you have a very below average prospect pool you MUST swing for the fences take the most boom and bust guy, the one that could become a franchise player if all the stars align and his development goes right thats zach benson if he falls
  9. If we have a shot at Benson, there is no world in which we should trade pick #11 We can trade literally any other years pick, but Benson is a top-3 calibre prospect in an average draft. I dont know how many more shots we're going to get to surround Petey with young top-line calibre talent. This is probably the last one for a while I think - with Demko healthy we are not going to be picking high the next few years. If he hits his ceiling, imagine putting him on Miller's wing with a speedster/forechecker like mikheyev on the other. That line would be insane.
  10. I think the only way this works is if Chicago takes TWO of our high cap hit deals (Garland and Myers?) We trade 1sts, and we get a couple of 2nds Then in UFA we go get Gavrikov + Barbashev. Bring back Schenn. Kuz-Petey-Beauvillier Boeser-Miller-Hoglander Mikheyev-Barbashev-Joshua (thats a hell of a shutdown 3rd line) Aman centering two people Hughes-Schenn Gavrikov-Hronek (shutdown pair) OEL-Bear (they were decent together, should be great if slightly sheltered)
  11. i mean this sincerely, this is the most impressively constructed argument in favor of an opinion that most disagree with.. that used to include me until i read your synopsis and evidence im 100% with you, i cant argue with facts presented like that impressive. we will watch your career with great interest.
  12. Good deal, then we flip him on another team at the deadline, here's the strategy PROPOSE that we are offering them mcdavid (when they ask how, just tell them we have our ways) then in the actual trade paperwork make the names SUPER TINY FONT. replace david with michael. lets be honest, at 6 point font, they wont be able to tell the difference. and both are biblical names so how different can they be really? thats how we get 8x 1st round picks and rebuild the team whos with me? get er done gmpa and hairless compadres
  13. Dried belongs on the 1st line of an NHL roster specifically the Chicago Blackhawk’s
  14. Trading #11 would be very upsetting. we’re gonna get a player at #11 that could be top-3 in another draft I have to believe GMPA is concerned enough about the future (he has shown that, by the prospects he’s picked up) to find another solution.
  15. im still waiting for a GM to sign a player to 6,969,696 when that day comes (and mark my words it will), CDC will be trading eeeeergh over to that new team forum in exchange for 69 future considerations
  16. so if im understanding you correctly whip out the pen and give er the old 6x6 REGAL special get er done GMPA & the hairless compadres
  17. So McDermott missed the whole season b/c of his concussions He is a RFA with a 1.75 qualifying offer What to do with him? Personally I think don't qualify him, but try to re-sign him as a UFA for 1m x 2 years. We gave up a 3rd for him, hes versatile plays right and left side, and i think has 2nd pair upside if healthy. Making him a very good 3rd pair defenseman. If concussion issues continue he sits on LTIR, no cap issues. If hes healthy but doesnt play well, we can bury the 1 million in abbotsford. Low risk, but potential we get a guy playing at a 2.5-3 million dollar value on a 1mill contract.
  18. i dont see them being that stupid though nothing theyve done tells me this group would pull something like that even in the dickinson cap dump that cost a 2nd rounder, they got stillman (yikes) and then managed to turn stillman into Bloom who was a 3rd rounder and still looks like he belonged as a 3rd round pick this group is very stingy with their resources one might point to giving up the 1st for hronek but i look at it more like they turned horvat + a 2nd into hronek, raty, beauvillier + a 4th which as lateral trades go is a great one
  19. exactly at #11 someones gonna fall from the top 6-7 and thats likely a top-3 player in any other draft taking my chances with the #11
  20. before the world he was after the world he will be a fixed point in the universe, an immovable pillar carved out of hands of stone. An empty net creates a rift in space time, he repairs them all. billions of years of time, billions of light years of space held together by one thing his highness, the lord of frolunda, the empty net bandit where did i put that bottle now??
  21. The prince of frolunda will return it was foretold
