  1. the cost would be losing picks. not worth it - banking cap space for tdl only makes sense if we're trying to compete and want to shove a bunch of good players into our lineup at the deadline, which we shouldnt be doing for at least 2 years anyway.
  2. No need to dump poolman and Pearson though, they will be LTIR residents this year
  3. The moping in this thread is incredible ofc this was a trade they should take 10/10 times jfc. even if he had a 10% chance of “change of scenery” turning it around (as it has for tons of other players in the past), his ceiling was/is HIGH That’s the reality of the buy low/sell high game. Sometimes you buy low because he’s worth… low. we got Bear for peanuts too and he ended up being a solid top-4 rhd for us Management signed lazar (cost 0 assets) and sold him for a 4th rounder. I think we can give them a break on losing a 7th rounder and AHL player
  4. What? misses: stillman (free, in the Dickinson cap dump. Still managed to salvage a decent prospect - Bloom) dermott (injury) kravtsov (we lost a 7th rounder and an AHL player aaaaaaa) management had a ton of hits, but you don’t think landing kuzmenko, a 40 goal scorer, for free, makes up for the above??
  5. Bennings two biggest problems: 1. no patience 2. disdain for analytics
  6. We were thwarted by goaltending last year our team was way better than it showed I still think GMPA is gonna pull off the 3C deal he needs to Garland out, 3C in
  7. Robby Fabbri (Center) mcissac (defense prospect) and 2nd round pick for Garland Fabbri plays on the pk, use him as our 3C. He’s only got 1 year left on his contract. If he’s good, keep him. If not, let him walk at UFA
  8. Sure but my point was we dont have to do anything at all to ice a compliant roster next year a roster that’s already way better with Hronek and beauviller over Horvat and with demko jealthy and the following year myers falls off, as does Beauvillier. so even if I’m wrong and moving ANYONE this year is impossible, we simply don’t have to
  9. There’s a huge difference between a 6 million dollar body that doesn’t belong in the NHL and Conor garland who’s a proper middle6 forward and is a leading nhl’er 5v5 Red Wings media put out a proposal offering real assets for him without asking for retention from us moving OEL would cost us a lot to dump But there are teams out there who would LOVE garland on their team especially if we retained a bit
  10. Boeser or Garland moved with some retention worst case scenario Myers moved after his bonus is paid OEL bought out seems like plenty of choices to create the cap space to me. stop being a doomer. Don’t be sad. Get glad!
  11. What cap crunch? 3m for Bear 2 more at league minimum Hoglander spent last season in the nhl he’s getting league minimum. It’ll be a 1 way deal if he’s lucky. Stop being a doomer, Garland is valuable, other teams media have proposals out there with THEM giving us assets without us having to retain. we literally have so many options it’s silly.
  12. The value of that 1st round pick was very high when we traded it NYI was looking like it could miss the playoffs, and that pick could have been a lottery pick I don’t think anyone expected NY to finish so strong, resulting in that 1st getting pushed so far down Yzerman was probably hoping for a much higher 1st rounder from the trade I don’t think he traded Hronek because he didn’t fit the window. If that were true why keep Larkin? he traded Hronek because Yzerman believes the D should all be 6’4 monsters, look at the D he’s drafting
  13. bet anything that with demko healthy + hronek in the lineup, minus horvat, we're already a bubble playoff team a penalty killing 3c and an additional big shutdown defenseman make us a competitive playoff team
  14. islanders in shambles only option they have right now is buying a DeLorean and hoping it comes with the time machine functionality built in
  15. We are probably being doomers and undervaluing our players as we usually do when the team sucks (we do the opposite when we're good) thank god CDC doesnt make the trades this is what redwings media thinks a fair proposal for garland looks like
  16. Sorry but the tanner pearson thing just isnt a real risk. he has more surgeries scheduled. and poolmans buyout cost is 500k, so even if he does play, if he happens to play well and we have the cap space - great youve got a defensive RD for 2.5 million. if he doesnt, we can afford the 500k cap hit. EDIT - brainfart, cant buy out a player during the season. Regardless, if he plays, bury his contract in the AHL. 1.4 million dollar cap hit. these are non-problems. anyone thinking theyre problems wants there to be problems or has been brainwashed by the imposter hairless compadre thomas drance
  17. yeah thats not gonna happen. when was the last time you saw a player with migraine issues that bounced ot a dozen different doctors with no solution slot back into the lineup without warning edit - he played 40 games for us in his 1st season, and 3 games in his 2nd. hes not coming back. and pearson? more surgeries coming. sad to say, 90% he'll never play again. 0 chance he'll play next year.
  18. We traded an 8.5 million dollar player generating this level of production + a 2nd round pick for Hronek, one of the best center prospects (raty), and a 4th Absolutely flipping wild trade an unbelievable fleeing new york got undressed, JR stole the shirt off their backs and all of their boxer-briefs if that wasnt enough humiliation, he walked out wearing their toupee absolute unbelievable highway robbery by the hairless compadres / bald bandits standing ovation for the chipmunks
  19. except it really isnt where on earth is everyone seeing these massive cap issues that i keep hearing about we are "over the cap" only if you count pearson and poolman, both of which are going to be sitting on LTIR if you put those two on LTIR, and include our 850k bonus overage, we start next year at 78.35 Add 3m for Bear and youre at 81.35m + 800k for Silovs and youre at 82.15 So with ZERO moves we are 1 million under the cap If JR makes ONE move this offseason (lets say he moves Garland with 1m retention) thats 5 million dollars for a 3C + some sandpaper on D. Next year, Beauviller and Myers contracts fall off - 10.5 million of space opens up. Petey needs a 3 million raise to take him over 10 million, Hronek will need a 3 million raise most likely. Salary cap is projected now to go up by an ADDITIONAL 4 million So we go into the following season, WITH raises for our expensive RFAs, with around 8 million dollars of cap space Literally where are these massive cap issues everyones talking about. We aren't minesota with 12 million in actual dead cap.
  20. He was fast, forechecked well, and was one of our only reliable penalty killers a more than worthy 4c for 925k at 22 years old, with lots of time as well to improve faceoffs, put on weight, etc. most important thing is he has the defensive instincts to already be an excellent penalty killer. That tells me his future is a good shutdown 3c
  21. Wdym he hasn’t nailed down the 4c job? He was excellent last year
  22. Tbh your point about reducing the leverage of teams like chicago is exactly the biggest benefit all of a sudden, the trade market value of "cap space" plummets and the trade market value of some of our players goes up - Garland, Boeser, etc.
