  1. Woah. Trade Myers for a 1st + Holl -> play Holl 40 mins per night -> lose every game as a result -> acquire Bedard Myers gets traded for Bedard and a 1st. Ultimate trade.
  2. holl is disgustingly bad, cannot play a single game on our nhl roster acquire, send him to abbotsford
  3. why no retention, if it increases the return? myers is only under contract for 1 more year after this one, and we're gonna stink anyway. retention may actually help us stink more for a year, giving us a better pick in 2024.
  4. owner was angry at the toronto game after his meeting with JR, bet JR told him we're selling and owner can shut up and take it
  5. if dubas thinks myers is the solution to his defense then he can have him myers with 50% retained for a 1st and we'll take any additional garbage you want as long as it expires before 2024.
  6. No more trading away picks unless its to move higher, or accumulate more picks. No more McDermotts
  7. 1. Myers at 50% retained + our 3rd for: a 2023 1st 2. Bo for a 2023 1st + Morrow or Cuelemans (depending on who we trade with) 3. Pearson at 50% retained for a 3rd 4. Schenn for a 2nd at the deadline 5. Kuzmenko at the deadline for a 2023 1st Weaponize the 6-7m of cap space to take on a arizona style cap dump or two, for another 1st round pick Clean up in the 2023 draft, suck bad in 2024 b/c of the above moves, 2025 we take our revenge.
  8. Okay so: We know we're not winning a cup this year or next Myers expires end of next year Getting literally anything for Myers (or any of our players over 28+) would be a win. 3rd round pick for Myers? Done. 2nd round pick for Myers for some retention? Done. Wanna give us a 1st round pick for Myers at 50% retained and a 3rd? Done.
  9. Yeah well maybe they shouldn't have been buyers, knowing what the future was going to hold, and how many top tier assets they were going to have to let walk for free.
  10. Cool then to my earlier point, trade Markstrom at the deadline to a contender. Idk. Simple enough if there's any belief in long term planning over desperately throwing it all in every season.
  11. Also idk what you mean that pending ufa's (rentals) don't command high returns at the tdl considering that you also referenced toffoli and that he was in fact a rental.. and he cost us a lot to get lol. plenty of such cases, barclay goodrow comes to mind
  12. Then you re-sign him to a long term deal, let Demko remain backup for one more year, and then trade Markstrom. There are a ton of teams right now that have mediocre to bad goaltending that would be willing to give up assets for a goalie as good as Markstrom. Again - doable if planned for in advance. There was no planning. Just every offseason, try a hail mary to make the playoffs. Weird to insinuate that the team didn't have options. Good teams don't let star players walk for nothing.
  13. You plan a year in advance for Markstrom. Get Demko in more games early, and figure out if he's ready. If not, pick up a washed up has-been to shelter Demko while he gets ready. Absolutely 0 excuses for letting a vezina-caliber goaltender walk for free, when the return should have been extremely high if he was traded with some term on his contract.
  14. Toronto: * has trainwreck defense* Also Toronto: "Hey you know what, a little more chaos might just be what the doctor ordered" smh
  15. Royalty deserves no less than 6m/year on a multi-year deal. Man knew his worth, held out for it.
  16. End of an era Go home and rest, king Your work here is complete You may be gone, but your legend will never die
  17. Hot take: Demko playing like trash while our forwards score a ton this year is the best possible outcome. makes it much easier for Rutherford to sell management on why we need to be sellers at the deadline. the rebuild we’ve all wanted can finally happen.
  18. Bo and 2023 3rd to Carolina for Morrow 2023 1st Jarvis Kuzmenko to NYR for 2023 1st (New Yorks - they also have Dallas 2023 1st) Vitali Kravtsov They have to pay up because of how cheap Kuz is, if he keeps on this 0.5 goal per game pace Garland to CAL for: 2023 1st (apparently they really wanted him at the last deadline) Lucic (cap dump to make it work) Offseason moves: 1. Draft 2 defensemen in the 1st round + a smallish goalscoring forward like whitelaw. 2. Sign Severson (highly doubt he re-signs in NJ, hes squeezed out of a top-4 role there) 3 forwards out, but adding: Jarvis, Kravtsov, Morrow, Severson and a whole boatload of 2023 picks.
  19. if youre 2 feet away from a guy and nobody else has him, take the stick instead of just standing there, seems reasonable to me
