  1. 3 keys to success: 1. Make your bed everyday 2. Eat several servings of leafy greens 3. Say good morning to the one and only King Hasbulla
  2. No, I don’t think you do - for the same reason you don’t trade Miller even though we technically can. The optics are very bad and would create distrust between management and players being signed to new contracts. however - the exception to this is if kuzmenko and management are far apart on a deal to re-sign him. trade one of our many other forwards instead
  3. I think you're exactly right. And there's some pretty clear actions he could have taken/could potentially still take if he really is sorry. but honestly, if it hasn't occured to him right now that he has a moral responsibility to help his victim, like TRULY help him, i don't think we'll ever see sincerety from mitchell.
  4. Im reminded of Al Capone's quote "I have spent the best years of my life giving people the lighter pleasures, helping them have a good time, and all i get is abuse, the existence of a haunted man". Even people who do pure evil convince themselves that they are good. While it's impossible to know exactly what this kid is thinking, the remarks from his sister tells me that the two of them don't believe that Mitchell's "punishment" fits the crime. She even went so far as to insinuate that Isaiah did something to deserve it ("anyone who knows mitchell and isaiah knows its not just one sided"). As you mentioned, not all people have empathy, and I suspect thats exactly what this situation is.
  5. Yup, and that’s the key nuance. it’s not about being vindictive or refusing to give second chances. The other bully made a wholehearted apology, and the victim believed his sincerity, so he was forgiven. if Mitchell was truly sorry, as the other bully was, he would have done the same. The victim already showed himself to be more than gracious and kind, far more than either bully deserves. An apology doesn’t absolve one of guilt, it’s the meaning and intention behind the apology which is usually pretty easy to read.
  6. So this is the key here: is he deeply ashamed and embarrassed? And if so - is he ashamed because of the consequences to himself, or because he genuinely feels bad that he’s driven another person to suicidal thoughts? To me it’s quite telling that he and his sister are focused on how he’s being victimized and cancelled. As of now, it’s pretty clear that his belief that he “deserves” to put this behind him and be given a second chance is more important than a true reconciliation. When he heard that his victim is having suicidal thoughts, if he was truly remorseful, he would have dedicated himself to helping his victim rather than convincing nhl teams he’s a good person.
  7. The victim was kind enough to accept the apology of the other bully because it was sincere. The mother shared that the victim still experiences suicidal thoughts as a result of this ordeal. It honestly seems good for society to have an example of how privilege and talent gets you nowhere if you're a s*** person. The NHL and its teams taking a hard line on this tells me we're moving into a kinder, more compassionate world. Let this kid be an example to everyone who thinks they're more valuable because of their skin color, skills, popularity, etc. Bruins players taking a stand on this is also huge. I can raise my kids watching hockey, and show them examples of how their heroes, these professional athletes, are choosing to do whats right instead of what's in their own self interest.
  8. Haha i never hated them as people, i hated that they made it so my wife whos from calgary can still laugh about us not having won a stanley cup
  9. Based on how this all played out, I may have gone from hating the Bruins to them being my favorite eastern team.. I bet this was a player uprising.
  10. I believe in redemption and second chances - but if you read the story closely, the other kid that bullied went and made a full and tearful apology, and was forgiven. This Mitchell kid didn't, and only started apologizing when it was convenient, and did not do so directly to the kid and his family (I will take their word over the bully's). Moreover - there is no "right" to play in the NHL. Similar to politicians and other public figures, society can and should hold professional athletes to a high standard. I don't buy the excuse that he was 14 years old. He didn't impulsively steal a chocolate bar, or blurt out something a bit mean. The only amends he could have made that in my view COULD be acceptable, would be falling on his knees and begging for his victims forgiveness, and immediately dedicating a large portion of his life to helping his victim overcome his suicidal thoughts. He would have to truly demonstrate that his actions were not indicative of who he is - show us that he has a huge amount of regret for his actions. You cant just say "im sorry" or go through some sensitivity training program. You need to actually care so much that you cant sleep knowing how much damage you did to another human being. Not this nonsense apology that's designed to get him into the NHL. Mitchell is free to take his skills and make a great career out of ball hockey or something.
  11. Has anyone noticed Loui reaction = massive winning streak for the nucks Loui reaction taken away = massive losing streak makes you think dont it.
  12. Yeah. A couple forwards are gone - who and how many depends on where we are at the trade deadline. I expect its going to be a case of trading forwards for futures and going fishing in the ufa pool for a RHD again, hoping luck finally turns.
  13. On the bright side, Bear looked like a proper top-4 defensemen. It’s pretty impressive that he was able to shake off the rust that fast. 5th round pick for a top-4 defenseman is a god tier trade.
  14. A couple bad plays, so ice time way down, so having a hard time producing we have such a glut of forwards it’s absurd
  15. Them trying Hoglander in that spot tells me they may be trying to move garland
  16. Weirdly his contract is sorta buyout friendly? For 2 years we'd hvae a painful 4.5m cap hit, but for the rest itd be a 2m ish cap hit. Not the worst result. For now though its worth waiting and seeing if his poor play is due to injury. Karlssons resurgence has given me some hope.
  17. He needs to sit down and heal then honestly. Playing like this has got him playing third pair minutes (last night). Let Burroughs or Breezer or Boner get 10-20 games while he heals.
  18. amount of high danger scoring chances has been unacceptable though. Sloppiest team in the league. Hes a good goaltender and should have had more of those but we're not helping him much
  19. They should be practicing their sprints out of the box trying to take a clean breakaway pass
  20. It’s kinda wild to me that even in the upper echelon of professional sports there’s such a difference in the work ethic and preparation from one team to another
  21. Very interesting to see Hoglander bump out Garland. wonder what the deal is there.
  22. Carolina is my thought too, perfect replacement for Staal, they’re in win now mode, and we would love their 1st and Morrow
