need a backup goalie too demko playing more than 60 games means injury and we cant afford to lose more than 50% of the games our backup plays 4m on a defenseman 3m filling out 3 roster spots 2.5m on a backup goalie need a miracle- one of garland, boeser, beauvillier 100% absolutely needs to be moved if our lineup is gonna be anywhere near NHL caliber next year

So I thought about this a fair bit. Pearson coming back changes the picture quite dramatically. We'll have around 9.5 million of cap we can spend instead of 12. Minimum needs: 1x top-4 LD 1x Penalty killing 3C 1x Backup goalie 2x third pair defensemen Im like 90% sure this is the outcome: 1. Qualify Bear 2. Re-sign Juulsen 3. Get one of the big name LD from UFA (Graves or Soucy) (4m x 4 ish) 4. Get a 3C from UFA 4. Fill 3rd pairing from within 5. Bring back Burroughs Start of the season something like this: Hughes-Juulsen Soucy-Hronek Wolanin-Burroughs Yikes. Once Bear returns from injury: Hughes-Bear Soucy-Hronek Wolanin-Juulsen Oof. We are not gonna be a good team unless management can move one of Garland Boeser or Beauvillier. That Defense just isnt adequate.

Which demko are we gonna get? Bubble demko or start of last season demko? 2. Will Hronek be as good as advertised? 3. will Mikheyev be able to stay healthy? 4. can OEL be a good 2nd pair defenseman and was last year just a bad year? The answers to those questions should determine the moves we make.
