(Proposal) Armchair GM this offseason

Agreed. I think if he maintains his form that he had early in the season for us though, I'd be very happy with that -
(Proposal) Armchair GM this offseason

I agree with all of that tbh. I dont think we actually have much bad cap at all. Myers is of course overpaid and unfortunately not the mold of what we need on the right side - we need a more defensive minded stay at home guy. Good news with that is we can move Myers and get a stay at home defenseman - they are both cheaper and easier to find than two-way guys like Myers. That should save us about 1.5m if we move Myers and sign someone like Manson. OEL has generally looked good to me, considering he's playing the most and the hardest minutes. If we give him a stay at home partner, it'll free him up to contribute more offensively too. I think we've all noticed he rarely takes risks in the O-zone anymore, but back in his glory days, he'd join the rush and that's how he'd get a lot of his points. Would be nice to have someone cover for him. Dermott-Poolman pairing is a perfectly reasonable third pairing, and not overpaid as a pair. Happy with that. It would be good to get someone faster than Schenn to play with Hughes next year, we probably have to downgrade one of our forwards to make that happen. I think the team is a couple of defensemen, and 1 middle 6 forward away from going for it. -
Funny how eye test can be so deceptive. We see Motte skating so fast, i think it becomes a lot easier to assume he's contributing more, but reality is those are bad pk numbers b/c pk is all about intelligence and anticipation, not really about how fast/hard you can skate.

Poolguys numbers look pretty good too. As long as he's not allowed to carry the puck up ice or make any kind of offensive plays, he seems like a solid defensive defenseman. Dermott's defensive game looks good too. We might be shaping up to be a better defensive team moving forward.

You're trolling right? Theres no way youre serious. Just in case you are: The salary for players in the NHL has way more than doubled since 2002. Jaromir Jagr scored 123 points in 2006, and his salary was 3.5m/year. Petey at 7.35m/season for 25-30 goals + defensive responsibility is fair value. -

Many issues with this: #1- thats an incredibly lopsided trade in favor of LA. 3 prospects who aren't even in the NHL for a 23 year old #1 two-way center whos good for 60-70 points + a top NCAA goal scorer? #2- That right side looks worse than it does right now, and you gave up Pettersson to make it happen and retained cap on Myers? #3- You've got Podkolzin and Hoglander on the 1st line, whereas Bruce Boudreau feels they belong in the bottom 6 for now, and there's nothing to prove that they're going to be top-6 players by next year #4- the vast majority of prospects dont end up being impact players in the NHL, and defensemen in particular take way longer to cook than forwards. To expect Clarke or Faber to be useful to us in 2 years time requires a ton of wishful thinking. -

People forget that this was Henrik Sedin's age 23-25 years: For all intents and purposes, what Petey's doing now puts him far ahead of the development curve of a lot of stars. Selling him now would be absolutely braindead dumb, he's got superstar franchise center potential. -

Yeah he did look kinda shaky -
Flames are whiners but dont have that many dirty players (Tkachuk obviously dirty as fck though) Bruins are by far the worst b/c they pay the salary of that criminal sewer rat Wild coming in at a close second I have a feeling they went after Schenn in the beginning to try to take Hughes off the ice for 5 minutes - take Schenn off, there goes Hughes' partner, so Hughes is sidelined. Just dirty.

Its so great. Based on the amount of times he gets hacked/slashed away from the play and draws penalties, his chirp game is probably on point hahahah -
I think OEL played his full 22-23 minutes tonight, but maybe got some easier minutes instead of having to take 100% of the hard minutes

I actually cant imagine this team without Highmore lmfao. I would be distraught if they let him walk.
