  1. Nucks will put it all on the line tonight and win 3-2, Boeser will score and make the whole trade deadline very confusing
  2. One nice thing is the Leafs defense and goaltending is so bad, they really don't have an honest shot. I hate that the flames actually have a chance, and its all b/c of the ex-canucks they picked up for free.
  3. Hot take - id rather any other team win the cup except the flames, id even take the Laffs winning over the Flames.
  4. Me too, and he's young enough to still get better. Someone will grab him before we get the opportunity though i imagine.
  5. If we're trading Boeser, we probably get a significantly bigger return selling at the deadline when he can help a playoff team
  6. To be honest I do think this is significant overpayment for Boqvist. Plus I don't think we need to shell out the assets required to pay the premium for a defenseman capable of putting up offense, considering that we have Hughes, and Rathbone, and OEL if we free him from having to be a shutdown defenseman. Pure shutdown defensemen actually get paid less and can be picked up for free from the UFA pool often times - e.g. Tanev, Savard. We're better off pursuing a couple of pure shutdown defensemen instead, we wont have to part with Garland to get one.
  7. We'd still have to pay half their salary though right?
  8. If Hagel gives them the same production over the next 2 seasons as he gave Chicago this year, the deal is actually not overpayment imo. 30 goal pace over 82 games, for 1.5m a year, signed on for 2 more years. Unicorn contract.
  9. Ultimately I think the contracts we have to move to make cap space and can while getting a return are: Boeser Myers The ones that would be nice to move but difficult without giving up assets: Poolman Dickinson Pearson has been good but definitely an option to create cap room and replace with a european free agent I think your plan of moving Boeser for picks/prospects is also a good idea because we could pick up some free agents this year off the teams that are making a run at the cup - Florida, Pittsburgh, and Vegas have some players that they wont be able to sign that would be great pickups
  10. Elf also draws a ton of penalties, we'd really miss him if we traded him away imo.
  11. Definitely doesn't reduce our cap, but the strategy would have to be shipping out Myers for a mid round pick too to get rid of cap. Unfortunately, Severson's contract expires next year, so in an ideal world we go after RHDs like Marino or Whitecloud who are signed to fairly inexpensive long term contracts. But if it ends up being a matter of doing this deal, and Severson just being the upgrade over Myers, I still think thats a big win for us. He can play a shutdown role and is a monster penalty killer
  12. Boeser and Poolman for Zacha and Severson is a completely fair hockey deal that makes both teams better.
  13. Oops you're right, I just double checked. He's got 8 even strength goals. Still not great but not as horrendous as I thought.
  14. Boeser has 2 even strength goals this year, he's a powerplay specialist imo. I agree we cant give him 7.5m/year
  15. I think its extremely likely Boeser gets traded if we lose to the Flames. Maybe Pearson and Motte too.
  16. Both of these guys should be playing with shutdown defensemen. OEL is the better skater and shooter out of the two, ship out Myers and bring in a stay at home defenseman for OEL.
  17. Chaos giraffe causing chaos tonight Some sloppy plays by OEL too Boeser looking pretty ineffective 5v5 as he has all season. Badly need a shutdown defenseman to play beside OEL.
  18. Juolevi looking very shaky Poor Detroit - picking up old canucks defensemen has been a winning strategy for literally every team except them
  19. Yeah that 10m contract looks like a horrible strategy. Karlsson, Stone, Pietrangelo all old guys signed to long term expensive contracts. 24m between the three of them. My god. They're going to have to pull off some miracles at the draft. Im wondering if we could pry zach whitecloud out of them, I dont think they can even afford paying him the 3m/year he's under contract for.
