If he didn’t get greedy we could still have him!!!

Why can't he be greedy and look out for himself?

He literally has a golden window of 4-5 years, which is his prime years to sign a long term contract that will affect the rest of his life.

And he deserves it playing his hearts out every shift.

I would still work hard to add a d man to this group before season opener

this D corps is not a playoff d corps imo

I would go all in with our Corp in their prime now - Petey, Hughes, demmer, Miller, Kuzy, hroneck, Milky

    all in prime now

trade a two firsts, 25/26 and one of hogz/lettermaki plus a cap evener like garland or Myers after bonus

    targret Winnipeg - Morissey

    To VAN

    Morissey

    Lowry

    To WIN

    Garland

    Rsthbone

    Hogz

    2025 1st

    2026 1st

make them offer they can’t refuse

two firsts and hogz plus Myers after bonus… I am not sure they could turn that down

    beau Petey Kuzy

    Podz Miller Brock

Milky Lowry Suter - that’s a SC winning 3rd line

    Joshua Blugger Aman

    morriseey Hroneck

    Huggy Cole

    Soucy Bear

    that’s a playoff d corps

Good try on the offer, but..... It is hard to pry away a #1 defenseman from any team. Let alone a team that thinks it is still competing the upcoming season. You may think 2 1sts is a a lot. But Morrissey is ppg 28 year old dman signed to a 6.25mil AAV contract. I am not sure Winnipeg even considers your offer lol.

Shoulda went for Chychrun if you are going for dman.

Forget about the AAV and how it compares with other top tier players' contract. The fact that he was only willing to sign a 4-yr contract suggests he's not committed and simply waiting for the opportunity to play elsewhere as soon there's another good team that can afford him. McDavid and MacKinnon you can bet they'll remain with the same team, but with Matthews you're already asking that question as soon as he signed a contract.

Allowing players to dictate everything is like part of leafs team culture now - doesn't matter who the GM is anymore. After 3 years they have to go through this again, crazy.

No. The reason hes signed to 4 years because that takes him to age 29 where he can again cash in another 8 year old term contract with whichever desperate team.

  4. I seem to remember people saying JT Miller will get 110-115 points after his 99 point season. Or Canucks will have 9 players with 20 goals last season. Why does your post seem eerily similar with the same reasonings lol.

Not saying it can't happen, because Kuzmenko is a great player. But there really aren't many 50 goal scorers in the league. Possible, but not likely.

Will he though? I hope Woo can become an NHLer, but at this point he's doing okay in the AHL and hasn't even made his debut for the big club. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine there will be that long a queue for him until he's proven at this level.

Better prospects than Woo have slipped through the waivers. But then again, we have Gadjovich get claimed. So i'd say no one knows, it's 50/50 lol...

  6. Comparing Miller to Wilson's contract is just lol.

Capitals had to pay Wilson. With the way Wilson's played for the team over the years. There is something called loyalty in this league, especially when they have won a cup. Not many players get fleece like Klingberg with Dallas.

Now people are trying to use Wilson's contract to feel good about Miller's contract. Miller's contract is fair. But as evident by the lack of teams wanting to trade for Miller, not many teams want to have a player like Miller that occupies a caphit of 8million AAV.

  7. So basically no more Kravtsov in a Canucks uniform? The dude signs 2 years in the KHL just in time to make him an UFA - he hates the Canucks that badly? lol.

Well this got embarrassing quickly for the "oh my god, he was a #9 pick, hes going to be a gem" bandwagon group.

  8. lol...

These rumor sites posts rumors articles every few days (even if there is no actually no rumor at all), or how else do the sites survive to drive clicks? They most likely get their "rumor ideas" from forum sites too. So it's just super funny when you see forum starting up posts with these "articles".

Google news or whatever not knows that you are a Canucks fans. So these "articles"/sites are pushed to you.

Oh man.  They’re like the expendables at this point.

Crosby, Malkin, Carter, Eller, Karlsson, Letang… what a crew of greybeards. Advils and ice packs for everyone.

They also signed Graves this offseason which, while probably an overpay, is a nice pick up.  I like that they’re doing right by the old guard and letting them have another kick at the can.  All the time in the world to rebuild once you commit to it.

4.5mil for Graves is a huge bargain... And just 6 years too.

Relative to Severson 6.25mil x 8 years lol.

It depends on how well Karlsson meshes with Crosby or Letang. Letang's been their #1 guy for years, now they will have to somehow split up the opportunities. It depends how much Crosby's still got in the tank if they can compete for the cup.

Canucks and every other Canadian team since Bettman took over…

Tell me how the league would do if Canadian teams started winning like the Blackhawks did. You don’t think that would hurt their bottom line? Of course it would.

The league is successful when certain markets, whos fans would drop their team in a heartbeat, are kept strong.

It’s a simple formula. Canadian teams do well financially regardless of their success. The league does better when southern markets are kept in contention however.

lol there's no league-wide conspiracy against Canadian teams... We were put into every position to win the 2010 cup, we just dropped the ball.

What you said isn't false, but doesn't equal to the league is against Canadians teams. If Canadian teams start dominating the league for the next 10 years, then yes, there's a problem since Americans would lose interest in the sport.

If NHL was a cheat league, that gives special treatment to special teams, you would find evidence of special treatment to teams like LA Kings, NY Rangers, LV Golden Knights and even Dallas Stars. These cities have a market in a class of their own. So far I'm seeing none of that. You would also see preferably treatment to Seattle Kraken which just entered the league, I also don't see any of that.

In fact, if there's some conspiracy against Candians teams. Oilers wouldn't have drafted McDavid (only the best talent our generation) and Leafs wouldn't have drafted Matthews.

Which moves did Dubas make that you think were actually smart?  Most of what I saw wwas him systematically sabotaging the team with his incompetence.

If talking about just last season. He drops Sandin to Capitals, picks up a 1st round pick. Uses a 1st round pick to get McCabe from Chicago, which is an upgrade to Sandin for their cup run. And also went for O'Reilly as TDL rental, which isn't necessary a bad choice. All the while still managing to keep a 1st round pick to the 2023 draft which was super deep.

Not like he has cups to show for it. But you can tell there's intelligence behind his moves.

  12. 44 minutes ago, King Heffy said:

He's an absolute idiot.  The reason you want someone in charge who has played the game is so they understand what the hockey people are telling him.  He keeps bringing in defencemen who can't play defence, fired a coach who wanted to force his overpaid floaters to start putting in an acceptable effort, and insisted on keeping all of those floaters even after it became clear that none of them care about winning.  He then proceeded to whine about the sacrifices needed to do the GM job while wondering why the players don't put in the effort needed to succeed in the playoffs, all while being insubordinate to his boss who actually does understand the sport.

Dubas is simply not qualified to work in any job in hockey ops beyond possibly getting the coffee under adult supervision.  He is exhibit A as to why you don't let an analytics dweeb with zero understanding of the sport make hockey decisions.

Well that's just your opinion on Dubas which sounds quite biased to me. The facts listed before just speaks for itself. The league also thinks highly of Dubas as well Leafs wanted to re-sign him. Penguins snatches him up right after. To me when he was Leafs GM he seemed to be making smart moves every season.

And, of course having played hockey is a huge plus to being successful in managing a team. But not a must, which was the point lol.

  13. 54 minutes ago, rekker said:

Just the opposite. Dubas is overrated because some think he looks smart. Just the opposite as it shows all the time that he never played the game and lacks the experience to put together a team to win in the playoffs.

Dubas is smart. He wanted Karlson, he pulls off moves to achieve his goal, that is smart. Also I have never heard of GMs needing to play the game to be successful - where do you come up with that?

The Leafs under Dubas has reached 100-115 points every year in the regular season. That is an achievement in itself. Sure your counter argument's going to be they have Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander.. So why are the Canucks not hitting 100 point seasons with Pettersson, Miller, Hughes, Horvat, Demko? Matthews is just 1 year older than Pettersson lol.

Very cheap bridge deal, it'll be interesting to say how all their kids battle for ice time on defence. Last year they were superb but lose their top 2 defencemen. I think next season could go either way.

Dont think they'll miss a beat at all. They added Meiers and Toffoli.

Severson they were already playing as a 3rd pairing last season. And they've replaced Graves with Luke Hughes.
