So Benning has no balls and is totally spineless. Great person to have being the GM of an organization. Why not just hire a trained monkey if they're just going to be following orders? Be far cheaper so the owner can buy his son that $40,000 computer.
Yeah this is a ridiculous statement.. Most people have a boss, just because you have to follow the orders of your boss that does not make you spineless - it is just how life works. There are rules and you have to work within the bounderies. Aqualini being an extreme control freak and micro managed is way overblown to me. He probably has a mandate given to his GMs like he wants to make the playoffs this season - make it happen. And probably 1 or 2 directives like Pettersson is untouchable. And then he goes hands off - which is more than fair.

Basically Kostin is a giveaway for Yamato's 1 year capdump of 3.1million. Just goes to show how much Garland is worth (or realisitically, how much Garland will cost to be moved lol)
-
damn. Bear and Dermott cost a 3rd and a 5th. These stopgap solutions just doesn't work.

How can you guys justify such a cheap value when Chicago just burned 8 mil on two dinosaurs
Cap is valuable man, you gotta hold onto it like dear life and be cheapskates.

I actually wouldn't mind giving Duchene a try at around 2 million.

Boston could be out of the playoffs next season. No draft picks, no prospects. They might need to go into a full rebuild soon...
rofl.. you guys said that about Boston last season... and the season before.
Only to get slapped in the face with the best regular season in league history.. that's funny.

This year's drafting looks ok. Hope to see some of them playing for the Canucks in 2-3 years.
-
Hmmmm who are they trying to sign lol... Dumping their pieces. Pretty ill-advised to resign Killorn if without discount imo.
-
1 year of 5million costs a 2nd.

If true, looks like Cal Foote is a bust. 2 pro teams took a good look at him and shook their heads.

Looks like we shouldn't buy in the UFA at all. Should just do smart cap trades like Hayes at half cap retention, that's pretty decent. Be patient, wait it out with your cap, and great moves will come to you.
(Hope management doesn't do the opposite of the above)

lol... let me see what could have happened here.. Montreal liked Reinbacher so much they were willing to leak a negative article about him so they can safely take him at 5th.
-
lol... TB spends so much assets to fill out their 3rd line every year. Now they are giving away one of their 3rd liners... seems counterproductive.

35 years old and getting a raise ... nice.
What's Chicago doing... are they finished with their rebuild already lol.. I guess they don't want to put a bad product out on the ice for their ticket holders. Goodluck with halfassing a rebuild lol.
-
lol.. Bergeron just centered a team that broke the record for best regular season in wins 65 wins, 135 points. That alone woulda gotten him ahead of the line. To bring up the Eastern teams get more votes/attention is laughable. You think people don't watch McDavid play? Western teams do not get less votes from lack of attention lol...

Because his last contract at 6M AAV was immediately following a 50 point season and right now he's coming off a 14 point season. I would be surprised if a team offers him 6M this summer. It's not so much that he will want to take a pay cut as much as he will likely be forced to unless a team gets desperate.
I think more likely than not he will be paid 5.5-6.5mil by some desperate team. Thinking that he would sign 3.5mil with us, be a nice #3/4 and bounce back playing well is just very wishful thinking.

Damn Chicago gives Boston a big help for free... what's up with that?

If he were paid the same, then sure. But if Dumba is willing to sign something like 2 years x 3.5-4M to show he can bounce back after a down year, then why not? The issue with OEL wasn't that he couldn't play, but that he was payed too much for what he provided. Now, of course if Dumba's looking for another 6M+ contract then absolutely stay away.
So you are dreaming a 28 year old NHLer will take a 40% paycut from his current contract? Where have you ever seen a player take a paycut like that?

You might want to check the stats. Karlsson had 74 points at even strength last year and only 27 on the PP. So, he's not strictly a PP specialist. Bouchard had 26 points at even strength and 13 on the PP. So Karlsson would be helping them out huge at 5v5 which is where their problem lies. Edmonton doesn't have a problem scoring on the PP, it's 5v5 where they have an issue. Karlsson would put them over the top in 5v5 play. If they had Karlsson last year in the playoffs, Edmonton probably wins the cup...
? You are the one who emphasized Karlsson should be on Edmonton's pp. Not me lol..

Fail to see how Dumba is an upgrade over OEL.

Karlsson would fit perfectly on Edmonton’s power play. He’d easily get over 100 points next year and win another Norris or two.
I think the best way to do this would be to have a 3rd team involved as the intermediary to take on some of the cap hit. Just like Arizona did with Patrick Kane. Only problem the intermediary world have to take on that cap for 4 years not just one year. So the cost to Edmonton would be huge.
I would say the intermediary team, let’s say Chicago, would want a 1st round pick at minimum. Then San Jose would also want a 1st round pick plus Evan Bouchard. So it’s gonna cost Edmonton two first round picks plus Evan Bouchard to get Karlsdon at a cap hit under $3 million for 4 years.
Might be worth it for them in order to go all in for a cup.
Why would Edmonton want Karlsson? They already have Bouchard on the PP who is doing very well and has a better shot.

lol let me try to keep track of this..
This guy makes a big fuss about how he should get paid handsomely.
SJS does so, becomes a victim because they can't handle the 15% of cap being paid to 1 dman who isn't playing like a top 5 D in most years.
And now he wants to be traded so "his talent doesn't go to waste?" (after baiting some team to give him that rock heavy contract.)
