2023 Frank J. Selke Trophy finalists unveiled
Drakrami replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Selke for a player on a team that consistently let in 5+ goals a game during the season. I don't know what Canucks fans smoke some times... -
2024's likely No. 1 overall NHL draft pick wants to be a Canuck
Drakrami replied to Canuck You's topic in Canucks Talk
If we have smart management, they'd draft out a 10 year plan on how to get Bedard and Celebirini both in a Canucks jersey. Blueprint, plan, vision. -
Because he is tall. That's what goes through the thought processes of the posters.

What Gretzky Record Will be the Hardest to Catch?
Drakrami replied to Rocket-68's topic in General Hockey Discussion
All of them are impossible to break. Honestly, in terms of talent level, McDavid and Gretzky are probably quite similar; they just play in different eras. McDavid needs to start winning some Cups to back this up though. -
[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
Drakrami replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Pettersson's gonna get paid. Aqualini likes him a lot. Won't be surprised at a 11.25mil AAV. -

Pretty sure they'll talk to Crosby and if he is still game, Crosby will retIre a Penguin. -
Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim
Drakrami replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
Wow we actually almost missed the lottery for #1 pick... Our chances for #1 + #2 draft pick used to be over 10% just 2 weeks ago, now it's down to 6.6%. Not sure what I want to say.. But this last burst of wins against crappy tanking Western teams is just meh... -
lol trade away Marino and miss the playoffs. While NJD gets Marino and becomes #3 in the East. That's just funny.

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Anaheim Ducks | Apr. 11, 2023
Drakrami replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Basically Tocchet's being a professional, not getting distracted, remaining focused while you are commenting as a causal and saying why aren't we celebrating things. I'm glad Tocchet's not forgetting his job; hes got a big task on hand to get us into the playoffs next year. -

You shouldn't criticize Tocchet for doing his job. Having really good individual stats (Pettersson, Horvat, Miller 99points, Demko last season, Hughes, Kuzmenko) but really poor team performance is actually the glaring problem for this team and a recurring theme. In a sense, Tocchet is hired to correct that. So it's actually quite positive he is not lost and keeps on stressing on team performance. -
[PROPOSAL] 2023 1st round pick to NY Rangers
Drakrami replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Rangers are pretty stacked in forwards and defense. Schneider is exactly what they need more of, 21 year old, NHL ready, ELC contract. Since you want Schneider, obviously the point of the post, you will have to pay up. Although for the reason above, NYR probably wont even trade him. -

Yes. Some times you just gotta bite the bullet and do things effectively and efficiently. Other teams are doing it. Chicago, Anaheim.. There are 32 teams in this league, it takes something special to be the cream of the crop; the top 5 team out of 32 teams. Being a mindless team with no blueprint and vision will not get you there. And i dont think retooling what we currently have on hand will get us anywhere. There is history to prove it and that is our performance the past 3 seasons. Do we have a bright future with the road we are taking? I guess..? but look at the core teams like Ottawa and Buffalo have already assembled. Each have at least 4-5 young solid rising pieces. We have… Pettersson, Hughes and may be Demko. -
Horvat's contract is based on his performance up to the day of his signing. He was on pace for 67 goals or something like that at one point. Was on pace for 51 and 36 goals the previous 2 seasons. 28 year old center with that kind of goal production, decent two way game and a 57% faceoff rate? Any team would have paid him 7.5-8million AAV easily. So Islanders paying him 8.5million is not that bad at all. Horvat's also part of the class that still signed that 6x6 bridge deal like MacKinnon, Barkov.. This is where they get paid if they had performed previously. All teams will have overpaid contracts. Because all contracts with players starting at aged 27-31 will be overpaid. Unless it's your team's policy to not sign anyone over aged 27, you will have overpaid contracts on your team. There are many contracts better than Horvats, but there are also some worse/similar to Horvat's. I'd rather have Horvat over Suzuki (7.8M), Johansen (8M), Couture(8M), Thomas(8.1M)
