  1. No offense meant at all Alice but you’re coming into a proposal section of the board that is all about hypothetical trades and movement. Should we shut down the entire section based on your assessment/hopes for Miller? I love him as a player but like anything else he’s an asset in a business. It’s entirely fair and plausible for anyone to make proposals about his value and what folks might think he’s worth to us or his return from another team.
  2. Get back on topic. quit this crap, it’s pointless. Everyone is entitled to their own perspective. Get over yourselves.
  3. Miller and Pearson to Pens for Poulin, Joseph, Kaspanen and a 1st round pick? When Zucker comes off IR for playoffs, adding Miller, this gives the Pens their final window to push for another Cup (maybe 2) with Sid, Geno and Letang. Essentially JR again wipes out PIT’s prospect pool but this time brings it with him here. Not sure PIT does this though, considering the long term damage it does, but it dramatically increases playoff chances. Thoughts?
  4. 1. Welcome! 2. That is a major overhaul and well thought out. Unfortunately. I think it guts this team and unless it exceeds expectation, will cause us to lose EP and others to wanting a change of a scenery. Unless JR/PA become ruthless, I can’t see us making too many major moves like this, but should that ever occur, this is an interesting take. It pushes our window waaay down the road too, if ever.
  5. So was Gourde though too. there are legit reasons why Domi is already fairly well travelled in his young career. Durability is one. A different attitude is another. Might also only have chemistry with specific player types/personalities. There’s something there because he is an upgrade on, or at least in the upper half of, their lower roster. that said I’d try for him in UFA to get Bo a consistent linemate to elevate his game, who is also a buddy. Bo needs a kick in the a$$ because I think he feels stale with this team at times. This might be worth the cost as an experiment but at no more than 4.5 per. For Domi to agree to that it’d be because of that same opportunity. again, I still want to build a bigger bodied roster, but a heart and soul / blood and guts team will do me just fine as well.
  6. OK, this is going to sound crazy but hear me out, simply hypothetical... what if we agreed to trade JTM to Calgary for their cup run and next season. i just puked up in my own mouth. hypothetically, what does Calgary have (if anything?) that would enable a trade with us. do they have prospect depth? probably not enough and it would take a significant current roster piece away in return? I just think objectively and sometimes there are real surprises. Trelving loves himself some Vancouver style flavour. With Toffoli look at who 3 of their core character guys are now? It's crazy when you think about it and just where the Nux might be at this moment if we were able to retain the 3 of Markstrom, Tanev, Toffoli. Hindsight, but still, imagine that with Bruce~there~it~is. That is Stanley Cup level, imho. Anyway, is there any proposal that would be sufficient for JTM?
  7. You know who’s not craperolla… YOU know it Alfred. Markstrom gives you his blessing to move on and love again.
  8. They have no choice but to go all out. They can not keep this roster intact at this price and will likely lose Strome as a cap casualty too. great youngsters but the age gap between the core pieces and them is going to catch up with them, imho. one way or another, they will secure a top talent for their playoff run this year. the problem is just how much of their future do they give up to do so, and when their current core ages out, how much of a setback will it prove to be to make up for the talent they lost in gunning for a cup. that’s the nature of the beast now though.
  9. But this max cap team was also pooooorly coached to put us there to begin with. look at the record under Bruce. really only a handful of dud games and poor performances, plus some learned bad habits that are still being coached out of the players. we’ve also been pretty fortunate with injuries so far, whereas other seasons that has taken a toll on chemistry and production. as a whole, this team has already vastly improved since the changes, and at pace since then, we are a playoff team. not saying we would withstand the attrition that is the playoffs with the current roster makeup, but, realistically if the season started when Bruce took over we’d be talking potentially talking right now about who we might be able to add for our cup run
  10. By the sounds of it, it's a good time to try some brainwashing then... Look deep into his eyes, Alf. He is your superhero. You know this. Accept it. Embrace it. Feel the love. He will protect you. He will "save" you.
  11. A self-punch in the gut and some regurgitation will do that for ya. Congrats, i'm proud of you. Hopefully you also got something to eat out of the deal too!
  12. That's totally fair too. He hasn't previously had as much success as he has had here, so maybe this franchise is his ideal place to be, right? That said, they will have to pay up in next contract for what he has contributed so far. That's the way it works across the board. Look at Savard in MTL. Signed a heavy deal because he was just a small piece of a cup winning team. MTL paid up huge for that "experience", not because they expect him to be the missing piece in MTL, and Savard's market value was raised/inflated based on the past example, not future expectation. NHL is only a known quantity in that some team will always overpay for past achievements or projected future expectations. So hard to gauge what any team will dole out to one specific player, but there is always one every season that takes a major risk financially to secure someone they deem worth it.
  13. Haha you guys are hilarious with your back and forth! Much appreciated!
  14. It's also the most basic soundbite he can provide to a ruthless media just looking for anything to contort into a story/soundbite/likes/follows, etc, like the parasites they are. He's a professional. Straight up.
  15. Sure, and I loved living in Fiji. Maybe thats all he's referring to, or choosing to. I hope he loves playing here...his play on the ice would dictate that he does. This franchise, and his own motivations, have enabled him to become a top 10 scorer in the league this season. He's respectful and wearing his heart on his sleeve. That's all he owes. I don't know why there needs to be speculation whether he wants to stay or not. In the past and the now, he's proven himself. The future is not entirely up to him, he is a tremendous asset in the moment. He knows it, management knows it, and they cast the die on his future. Simple.
  16. Correct me if i'm wrong but Kesler also publicly stated he wanted out/change. That kind of lessens your value when other GMs are aware of that. If anything this is why Miller has been a loyal soldier. He's an asset who has personally increased his value for us, himself, and management as a whole. Why in bloody hell would he start piping up about any of this and compromise any of this. Doesn't make any sense. Fans acting like media expecting some defining answer when its right in front of them in the open.
  17. You're completely missing the point. It's not exactly up to him whether he stays or not. Sure you can try to argue it is because he's in control of his contract situation. Well, as you've mentioned he's still contractually obligated for another season at his current value. That is a commitment which if required he will play out here. What the hell else is he supposed to say? if mgmt decides to cash in on his value, they ship him off. he has no movement protection so why do you keep inferring he has complete control when he does not. he's performing on the ice, and doing so above his current pay grade. that's all he can control and thankfully its where his focus is and has been all along.
  18. In all fairness, no, its not. It's dependent on so many factors at this moment and is likely a very fluid situation. That is what happens when new management comes in with a stated intention of retooling this team.
  19. Of course, but respectfully what's your point? You expect him to discuss his contract/status in public so that yourself and us fans can be reassured? It's business. He's only 50% in charge of his future right now. Mgmt controls the other 50%.
