  1. His agent does the talking off ice. Miller does his on the ice.
  2. key words: " as we get closer to the deadline". new names come up everyday as potentially available. why would any playoff/contending team make a significant trade right NOW when there are still weeks to decide on what the best fit is and for what price. its just due diligence. has nothing to do with media speculation, imho. not saying anyone is, but best to not lose sight of the fact that the media only confirms the trades after they happen, and usually its a pillow fight to claim they were first to post it. its bunk. of allllllll the media speculation over the past few years, how often have they been right with their hot garbage? maybe 5-10% of the time? i think even that is being highly generous.
  3. This is exactly what we have lacked for the last couple seasons. It's cheap/cost effective and the chemistry they have as a line is also the same chemistry they have with others on this team. Can't for the life of me see what we'd get in return that makes this a viable deal unless there's a major overhaul. Their value has definitely increased though so you do have that as a fair point to illustrate with.
  4. Totally, but the other part of the structure that PIT has isn't just the top players deservingly making the big dough, but their top players are also the team leadership group. Miller is a team leader here. EP will be, he's not necessarily that right now. In terms of the Nux salary structure, Miller should very well be at EP $ level or above. He will get above on the market. Egos also have to be appeased, and Miller has used his to the team's advatange on the ice thus far. I'd argue he's run more of the show the last few years than EP has.
  5. Agreed, but that's also the way "parity" goes in the NHL. It's the calculated risk that a couple teams take at every deadline. It's cost of pursuing the cup. There's definitely a market and a deal or two available for Miller at the price point the Nux have set him at. I don't think it so much the acquisition cost right now as much as waiting to see what else comes available.
  6. We don’t really know that though, but very likely. Could definitely see teams waiting for the UFA signing competition and not lose any major future assets to acquire talent. Like the Habs have stated they intend to do.
  7. Human flesh? I had one once that escaped it’s habitat while I was asleep and I woke up with it huddled and resting above my eyelid in my eye socket. Don’t know if that was true love or just the warmth, but I tell you it freaked the $hit out of me and that poor tarantula found out that with a little encouragement it could fly.
  8. Agree with everything except Miller not being worth more than 7. That’s totally incorrect in contrast to his current league wide market value. Maybe 4 years ago? oh, and Myers does bring value. You just have to objective and look at it fairly. He may not be up to his contract value in some people’s eyes, but again, look at the market and AAV’s and he’s at least close. It’s not his contract undermining this franchise.
  9. It’s really a good place to finally be in, and totally sucks at the same time. Bruce has this team playing how we want, EP is back, 3rd line accepting and performing with major responsibility, and yet we realistically have to tear it down a bit again. It better be worth it. Both the return on Miller and the cap repositioning.
  10. I watch the Laffs play…just so I can root for the other team. Don’t care who it is. even when Boston plays them. yuck, just admitting that makes me ill and guilty. I always feel like I need to be head to toe sanitized afterwards, and then beg the hockey gods for forgiveness.
  11. Get who on the 6x6, BB or FF? Because FF would be crazy to accept that when he could get 8-8.5 in UFA methinks. if BB resigns with us on a 6x6 then yeah that’s likely the better option. my big question is whether or not FA wants one last run for the playoffs with this crew. Yes, he’s stepped back and allowed a mgmt group to run the show, but with recent success and the playoffs within reach, does he indicate to JR to use this deadline to safely acquire pieces for a final playoff push. Assets that can exchanged out in the offseason, along with the beginning of the retool after our playoff exit? it’s a really tough call for the group. likely comes down to one major trade offer that is too good to pass up?
  12. If was another team, in worst case scenario I would take a 1 year / QO gamble on Boeser and what he might do with my club. Like a test run. You risk losing value in the asset if he doesn’t perform well, but FF is walking anyway so you’re not losing all that much. only caveat is what a cup contender might offer for FF’s services for their run. that aside, Boeser could always be parlayed into another trade by NSH and net a decent return for their needs.
  13. Obviously his mind is blown by the idea of it
  14. Van sends Boeser to Predators straight up for Forsberg (pending re-sign cost/availability). Would this be a piece that actually takes the team we currently have and fundamentally changes it enough in one move that quickly re-rights the ship? Of course it would involve other assets being potentially moved at deadline and D retooled, but is Forsberg the kind of piece alone that can actually makes us an expected playoff candidate by next season? What if FA wants one more run with this group, especially with Miller's value/production. I know this sounds far fetched, but if you look at this roster having matured together one more season, a few other pieces exchanged between now and on the offseason, and a MAJOR part of the core exchanged out for a known character primo veteran producing player who would almost ideally complement EP to his next level? Would it also add another veteran voice/bridge in the room and shift the balance/dynamic to some of the assembled vets (OEL, JT, FF) while also providing another successful Swede in FF to mentor EP? To me that's enticing. All depends on FF's contract though. Thoughts?
  15. I had MDP included in a proposal trade to ARZ. His young potential and low contract plus ARZ kind of depleted in G might be a landing spot
  16. Thank for that, appreciated. I still have hope for him. Look how long and the road it took for Markstrom to peak.
  17. What is the consensus on what’s happened with Mikey D? I was so high on his potential. Actually had hoped he would become our backup next season, but did the Nux mess up his progress by not getting him enough minutes?
  18. You sure it wasn’t that Lames fan walking up the stairs and out?
  19. This is what I worry about. who do we know can justifiably fill his shoes in terms of his total contribution to this team.? We don’t have anyone in the pipeline that’s showing the same type of potential in a leadership role, let alone offensive prowess. are we going to bring in bodies to redefine who this team is and potentially revert back to what just happened when we lost our core vet leadership group? it’s a huge risk and can push back any gains made since the last major changes. considering we’ve rarely had someone this valuable on the open market to potentially dangle, the return on Miller has, HAS, to be an unmitigated win/success and include a franchise foundational piece. This is a monumental moment in time for this franchise.
  20. Report: Habs planning aggressive approach to free agency The Montreal Canadiens stepped way out of the box earlier this month when they hired the inexperienced Martin St. Louis as interim head coach, and it appears their creative approach is here to stay. The Habs will continue to shy away from the typical rebuild model and are planning to be competitive when free agency opens in July, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported on Thursday's "Insider Trading." "What we're hearing is that, yes, the Canadiens are still on the lookout for picks and prospects in their roster makeover. But further proof that this is not necessarily a traditional rebuild and more of a roster transformation is that I'm told the Habs intend to be pretty aggressive in free agency come July 13," LeBrun said. "They hope to be a player. While they want to get younger in some parts of the team, they also want to lure a big star or two to Montreal as part of this roster transformation." St. Louis could potentially attract free agents to Montreal if he stays on as head coach beyond this season, another NHL club told LeBrun. The basement-dwelling Canadiens lost their first three games under the Hall of Famer's tenure after taking the reins on Feb. 9, but they've since rattled off four straight victories, including a 5-2 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In his introductory press conference, St. Louis said that he didn't come to Montreal "to be a substitute teacher" and planned on being with the team for "a long time." The Canadiens have been at the heart of a handful of rumors, with the March 21 trade deadline nearing. Veteran defenseman and pending unrestricted free agent Ben Chiarot has reportedly drawn interest from contending teams, while general manager Kent Hughes said the club would move on from blue-liner Jeff Petry if there's a fit. Hughes said in January that the Habs aren't feeling any pressure to get everything done by the trade deadline, but they're open to all potential deals, according to The Athletic.
