[Rumour] Canucks interested in Andrei Kuzmenko
RWJC replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The saviour! -
Yeah isn’t he great?!??! So much integrity and high moral value. He’s more like a father than an uncle to me. I can’t even watch Sesame Street anymore without feeling so overwhelmed with pride. I can count real good too now despite the brain glitches and routinely “occasional” catatonic state. he’s less NHL commissioner Gordon and more GARY BATMAN! A frickin hero.

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Andrei Kuzmenko

Tretiak coming out of retirement to back up Demko (and eventually take his job)? hes 69 years young and still quite limber -
uncle Gary gave me a free seasons pass to NHL Centre ice and a lobotomy.

Oh come on man. Like I said in another thread, the refs put the whistles away for everyone in the playoffs. Unfortunately the Canucks weren’t built to withstand that in post season. They did an admirable and incredible job, but were simply physically outplayed and eventually pummelled into submission. Was it rough and dirty hockey? Absolutely! But no one cheated. There was just not enough left for push back.
-
Interesting. Him doing that would signal he’s aware that the team wants to commit to him but that he has to stay consistent or next contract is a downgrade. I like it. Incentivized.

Its insured for 100 mill.

It is a lot of money tied up on D, which is also a problem now, but it’s still dollars better spent, imho. and totally agree that’s a lot of mins for those other D, but in additional retooling I think we find those other 2 shut down, big bodied RHD for the future. We have to, regardless…we only have Schenn and Hammy for another year. Can’t see Schenn extended and unless Hamonic is lights out and healthy, I expect he’s gone at end of his term too, if not sooner. Poolman for whatever he can get you. Serviceable guy, but not a fit with this club going forward unfortunately. Miller and Poolman to BOS for Carlo, Debrusk, Lysell and a pick. Marchand and Miller in the playoffs would be disgusting. before anyone goes off on Lysell’s size, have to consider that not every trade is going to bring back the exact pieces we need for the moment. But he’s a former 1st round pick who is performing well and increasing his value. Plus, sign Zadorov as UFA in offseason, pending trade off of other assets and their return. In 2 years time our D is still locked in on contracts and looks like this: Hughes Carlo Chychrun OEL Myers Zadorov 6/7 - Burroughs, Woo?, UFA/trade looks nice, imho
-
WhoaAaaaaaa! Alf? who took over your account??? I was just waiting for the Chycscrub debate, hah
-
Agreed, but do we? if we start to revamp this D corps, especially when being desperate for points from the back end too, having QH, OEL and Chychrun is seriously potent. It would involve commuting a certain amount of system play to originating from the outlet pass, etc, but maybe that’s what this anemic offense needs? I don’t see a problem picking up complimentary D partners as the season goes on, and shipping out Poolman as part of that, but if we added another young piece (Eg. K Miller) in place of Hamonic, and have Schenn/Burroughs rotate in on the 6/7, that’s a great looking start IMO. the thing with Chychrun is (to quote moneyball) is he’s a 5 tool guy. he’s big, hes an offense driver, he’s responsible defensively, he’s young, and he’s on a great contract. To again quote moneyball he’s also got a good face, hah.

Quick! Pick him up and trade him to the ether for the ghost of Cam Neely. the long suffering fans will get that one.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
RWJC replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The league is a business for sure. But the Canucks weren't cheated out of a cup. They were exhausted. I was at that game. Had they played Boston the same way they played us physically from game 1, the Bruins would have had a much harder time winning that game 7. It was a matter to two teams constructed differently, with the skilled bully team playing exactly to both their strengths. The fatal flaw for the Nux was they were constructed to play a finesse/possession game that didn't account for all the other crap that is let go during the 4 playoff rounds. -

I think K Miller is potentially a real gem and absolutely hope that if we deal with NYR he's part of the consolation package if Schneider is unattainable. -

To a degree that may be true. The other side of it is the plain truth: the Bruins beat the crap out of our team physically who were already decimated with injury and playing on fumes. No one had anything left but do remember it took 7 games. That moment with Marchand should have galvanized the team, and with a grittier roster make up it probably would have. It didn't...and we've more often than not played the physical side of hockey like a secondary aspect ever since. It's still a physical game until checking is removed in the future. The good teams play that to their advantage. -
Agreed that we don’t want him that badly. Still think it’s a golden opportunity for some team to acquire a potential stud Dman. Given what ARZ just gave away for Nick Ritchie, I thought it’d be worth it to see what folks think is Chychrun’s worth, and what ARZ would want back.
-
NUX receive Jake Chychrun ARZ receives Rathbone, Hoglander, Dipietro, 2023 2nd, 2024 2nd I do this in part because we can restock using Miller or other trade to do so, especially draft picks. Yes, I’d prefer us to not be trading picks away, but you have to give to get, especially when you’re getting young and NHL established. It basically solidifies our D from an offensive standpoint and also provides a big body whom I think has only shown some of his potential. 23 years old, good friendly contract. He’s not the shut down, physical RHD everyone wants, but it adds serious firepower to the back end and affords a little more latitude for guys like OEL and Myers. Rumour is LA is offering Gabe Vilardi as the top piece in a package. Not sure we can top it if they include Faber and a 1st or something in that range. Also, not saying what I offered above is probably enough to land Chychrun, but at least gets us in the ballpark to play ball. Thoughts?

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
RWJC replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
And if you’re a decent negotiator, you also find out where he would like to go -and may potentially re-sign - so that you can communicate that in trade negotiations with said team and potentially parlay that into an even better return. the kind of assets we’re speculating he should garner us in return…well, if I was trading that - a major chunk of my team’s future - away for Miller, I’d want to know there’s a little more than just the remaining term. I’d want to know that he sees my team as a favourable destination. I’m willing to give a little more if that’s the case. now that just may be tactic, but the GMs around this league operate on rapport. they blackballed Gillis together to a degree. JR is respected, and I don’t think he earned that rep by being a sleazy car salesman of sorts -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
RWJC replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Absolutely. No clauses on his contract. Good point. but his major value is to a contending team so there will likely be some discussion between his representation and mgmt about where he might end up. again, my point is his next contract value is likely entirely dictated by where he is traded to. If he’s shipped off to a PHI for example I can’t see him re-signing with them. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
RWJC replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Depends on where he ends up. he wants that cup. I think he’s still miffed about his trade from TB and their subsequent cup victory. I think that’s part of his “edge”. Now, the question I think at the top of him and his agent’s list would be: if I get traded to a team that is very much already a cup contender, do I take a little less on my term so that the team can stay competitive to my liking. if he wants top dollar/max contract, he might have to reassess how important his ultimate goal is. it won’t be with Vancouver though, given where we’re heading next, imho if I was him, I’d be pushing for a trade to a contender and play out my contract, then hit UFA. if he wins a cup this season or the next he will then have maybe satisfied the guttural urge, and then can happily accept a UFA bidding war for his services. Bit of a gamble, but if he’s going to a contender, chances are he’ll still likely get the same ice time, deployment, etc etc and maybe even more complimentary players to support his numbers. all this said, I’m very thankful for what he brought to this team during his tenure. Outperformed expectation and was a huge trade win for the previous regime then, and will be a boon for this one now. good work all around. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
RWJC replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Demko is an all star, likely would be voted as our MVP, and has carried this team probably more than any other player in the last 3 years. Hack him all you want but he is not the problem. Your tunnel vision is diluting your objectivity. Markstrom is gone, Alf, but he can still live on in your heart. let me help you…I suggest a profile name change to “Man Crush on Markstrom”. It suits you. ;p all joking aside I really do like what you bring to the forums. Alf does live! (With dementia) -

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
RWJC replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
This. Miller’s been through how many re-tools her in Van now? What new vision can be communicated that would convince him that this is the place to be. What this team has been for some time is dysfunctional. Even with Bruce’s touch, the old, pervasive habits persist. if I was Miller I’d be looking to max out in the US with a team that has a better forecast. It’s not a loyalty issue to me. It’s business.
