  1. Yes, this. And not only are they playing well, they are offsetting pressure on the F group as a whole with consistent, reliable play, delivering on expectation, and contributing offense. Best part is they want to play hard for this team/coach.
  2. Sorry last point - If I’m GMJR, in all seriousness, I would strongly consider moving out anyone in our F group, with the intention of rebuilding this team from the back end out. We have a bonafide all star G locked up. Done. We have some options for full time backup who still need some time to prove they can take on the role. We’re good there, not great, but good. What we truly need is to revamp this D corps with 4 top 4 dmen, who are younger with size and some speed, and two of them with offensive capabilities. No more 5-6-7s having to play above that. I love Schenn but after next year he is likely done in a full time role. Rathbone doesn’t quite fit the criteria so I would potentially make him available, pending what other deals can be made first. If Woo takes another step, we have a young ELC dman coming to play the 6th spot when Schenn is gone. Ditch Hamonic, Myers, Poolman to playoff contending team who might be able to afford it. if we’re gonna invest so much cap $ into our d, at least let’s get the damn framework right. OEL going to be hard to move and in all honesty I wouldn’t even try that. Id keep him and allow him to mentor the Das well as play in all D lines as needed. I would also make Huggy an alternate captain after next season. Our D needs a systematic rebuild. Our asset pool is within our F group. It’s time to address our real assets, the ones who keep improving and are truly play drivers, and that is QH and Demko. Insulate them, then rebuild the F group last. That would be my approach
  3. The problem is this team isn’t one similar EP type player away from being a playoff caliber club. We are deficient in a few areas. Could returns from BB and JTM address replace said players contribution and address our needs? Maybe and hopefully, but likely not immediately. And if we do move those players out, who complements EP long term? Another wait and see approach to catering to specific players. We need a heart and soul team that plays by committee. I’m sold on EP as an elite level talent, and again reiterate how much I like him as a player and feel we were fortunate enough to draft him, but I don’t think he’s the right player for our team to build around. I hope I’m wrong. I want to be wrong, haha
  4. I agree with you. I’m just playing devils advocate. If I’m an opposing GM with a youngish team in a playoff position with far more balance, I would be all over any negotiation that involved EP, even for significant value. Considering the Nux cap situation and impending contracts, EP is exactly who I would target. Not the Millers and Garland’s who are playing to their pay grade or above. EP now has term. He has pedigree. He just doesn’t have the surrounding cast to support his type of player. If I was a Florida team I would be all over him and providing a decent haul to secure him now before his valuation returns to normal. Also, I wouldn’t assume any other GM is solely looking to buy low. What I think is happening in Van provides an opportunity to secure an otherwise unavailable/untouchable asset. If the requisite pieces we require to build a more sound, functional team are offered, then between EP, BB and JTM, as well as moving out some bloated contracts (Poolman) and trading away serviceable playoff performers like Pearson, this team could have a major facelift going into offseason. Personally, I think that’s why GMJR was hired, as well as BB. To see what could be salvaged, and then use their histories as hockey people as cover for FA to be able to sell another rebuild to fans. All GMs are wise to how GMJR (I joke) operates. I would see this as opportunity to obtain a bonafide elite level player from a team that is obviously trying to remove itself from previous regime’s iterations and identities. And if I’m GMJR I’m listening to anything and everything. No one should be untouchable, and moving an EP now might end up bringing in a kings ransom for the future retool/rebuild… which is unfortunately where we are headed.
  5. Doesn’t hurt to shop him and see what his value is perceived to be across the league. That’s called due diligence, not dumb strategy. I’m all for keeping him and giving him time to bounce back to form, but I don’t see him as a leader unless he’s producing and amassing very high to elite level point totals. That’s his role as a young promising player, but what this team needs is more character and consistency, not finesse. As amazing as he can be, and a PPG player, you also have to take into consideration his GP:injury history and whether he will handle the wear and tear like the Sedins were able to. I’m not so sure of that yet.
  6. I hate to say this but I’m starting to believe our best options might actually be trade to EP and BB. And the only reason i say this is because that combined identity of those two players is what we need less off, unfortunately. I would replace these two with gritty larger forwards who play with intensity, consistently. 2 F who can immediately create that impact. If I was GM, I would truly consider offering EP or BB to MTL for Josh Anderson. His profile is exactly what should be the Canuck prototype when it comes to retooling this roster. I believe it would also dramatically help shift the locker room to more of a workhorse mentality. As for the other forward…any thoughts?
  7. I guess we’ll see. What you describe is definitely an option. I just dont see MTL ownership wanting to pay Petry that much for remaining term if they are going to blow things up.
  8. Because they have let it be known that they are willing to continue taking on bad money this season. They have 7+ in cap space to do so as well https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2290012
  9. Boudreau isn’t in it to win it…?!? As Darth would say…search your feelings (again) because I think you might just have gas.
  10. Dhaliwal is a bumbling idiot with no real valuable insight. Just another loud mouth, annoying “insider” with an opinion. Cap flexibility is a big issue, definitely. But OEL has stabilized our D, and Garland is a key piece at his price and within the core age demo. Hate to say it, but Miller is our best option, followed by Bo and Brock. I imagine one of these 3 will be gone, with BB6 being my first pick.
  11. Yeah, he's almost as bad as Dumko. Go eat another hairball.
  12. Yep. Would rather even have Motte at Dickinson money than Dickinson at Dickinson money. Just sayin
  13. Yessssss indeeeeeed… he loves to count (you’re welcome) the zeros of his inflated salary
  14. John, have you been procuring your Xmas prezzies from Japanese vending machines again?
  15. Just in time to coincide with the new Matrix movie time to change the slogan from “we are all Canucks” to “we are all Chiasson”
