[Report] Sharks claim Jonah Gadjovich off waivers

But that’s what a fan is allowed to do. Supporting a team affords vicarious “ownership”. Why are you trying to correct that? Does it make you feel infallible or something? I don’t get it. No offense meant and none taken I hope. -

With all due respect, while that may be true, shouldn’t it then produce some self-awareness? You’re hiding behind statements that devalue or deride other’s opinions or perspectives because they aren’t media fodder straight out of management’s mouth. -

What do you think are the defensive problems if any, and if it’s personnel, how would you address it? What changes would you try to make? -

And to counter you (playing devils advocate here) by your own comments you also don’t know if that’s exactly why he was hired. So why is anybody commenting? Why does the team offer a message board?Because it’s fun to speculate, to discuss, analyze or to opine…none of that demands fact but if you want people to speak factually or risk you cutting down their perspective, especially when it comes to the position you’re taking/arguing against, then at what point are you being hypocritical? You’re also just a fan on a message board. -

You don’t know that at 22 years old. You still don’t even know that at 26 years old *cough* Virtanen *cough* but they sure as hell gave him 7 years didn’t they? Oh yeah, he was also signed to a new contract if I’m not mistaken, one that we’re still on the books for. How much would Gadj have cost us, especially when considering our current cap situation? Yeah, it’s the business, but it’s still a shame. -

And Shaw was hired for what reason then…? And what’s his specialty? -

And was claimed off waivers halfway through camp with teams having made multiple claims for him. That says something. Either he’s not good enough for us or too good to pass up on another roster. Either way, SJS just picked up a RECENT 2nd rounder for absolutely nothing in return -

It’s just opinion. No ones saying they know better. I’m totally pro current management but to treat it as though they haven’t made mistakes is a bit ignorant -

I’m cussing you out in Melmacian right now for slagging the boy like that. Considering the favourite pastime on your home planet is mining for yogurt (?!?), I think you are Cat$h!t crazy, Alfred. -

Hopefully we can supplant the loss of one prospect with another and claim a young depth RHD with size off the wire from the Kraken in a few days. -

You’re right. Sorry, I’m just disappointed in it all and maybe seeing this move with my blinders on -

For me, he was showing potential to eventually have some decent trade value. That’s I think bother me most about this…the asset management aspect. If there is no roster spot, that’s fine. But given another year in the A (again, yes he has to clear) and if he maintained the same progression, he could have become an trade chip if we couldn’t use him. Instead, another piece disappears for nothing. To make room for a PTO. A PTO who very likely could be waived once Sutter or Motte return. I hope I’m wrong but this seems like a wasted opportunity. -

I do, I just believe there were others who could have been cut before him, and like I posted earlier, this move could have been more strategic. If he goes to waivers again and we can pick him up that’d be great. He was one of the few prospects that was really putting it all together. -

Time it better. Like someone else said, include him when there is more depth on the wire and teams almost all have their rosters already set -

Whether he played in the NHL this year isn’t so much an issue. He would have been a fan fave in Abby and a team leader. Stupid move. -

Can we please put a couple coaches on waivers now? -
[Waivers] 29 players - Oct. 06, 2021
RWJC replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
This. Players are often groomed to play for position/need. Look at how Bo’s role has changed. With the dedication shown this off-season in improving his skating, I imagine if coaching wanted to adapt Gadj’s game he’d be more than willing. Just sucks sometimes seeing walk-ons take a potential roster spot from an in-house talent. Whatever makes this team closer to a contender though, I’m all for it. -
And a deterrent that also acts as a cast off so that if a Petey gets run over, a guy like ZM is the pawn that gets sent out/sacrificed not to just scrap, but to avenge…like maybe serving up a nice tasty slash on the wrists. I can see Matthew Upchuck crying in pain right now…and it pleases me. Also need a warm body to serve the 1,372 minutes of too many men penalties Green is going to rack up this year.

I agree with you bu I think it’s kind of hard to gauge right out of camp. You’re being assigned random linemates, getting back up to speed, and learning or experimenting with new systems. Even some of the vets seem to need a couple days to get their form back. I’m hoping he clears and after a couple months in Abbotsford he’s still ripping up the A so that his ascent to the big club for a real shot is a certainty. His one of few AHL prospects we have who’s progression has been solid and absolutely trending straight upwards. I guess that’s why it’s a head scratcher he’s bumped over some other guys. That said, navigating the waiver game is part of asset management so likely the move was made out of precaution and timing.

And how does someone become more than just a 4th liner at best? By paying their dues, improving their abilities/skill set, and taking on a leadership role while protecting teammates, all at 22 years old. Some are upset about it because no one has seen his realized potential yet. He’s earned at least a shot in most people’s eyes. Sure he could be end up in the same category as a ZacMac where ppl expect more than what is there, and end up letting themselves down, but JG’s potential (for Nux fans) remains untapped or tested as of yet. And don’t forget, it’s the fans who always want to be the true judge of a player, haha
