[PGT] Carolina Hurricanes at Vancouver Canucks | Oct. 24, 2022

Horvat or (?) for Zub not that it’s worth much, but Dreger believes the standard price for a 2nd pairing Dman at TDL will fetch a 1st rounder… maybe OEL/Myers cost a little less at that point in time to trade out? -

I fail to see how this is on Bruce. I don’t care what assistants were lost/brought in. This team has egos/personalities that have cratered on their own, though two regimes trying their best to harness from the collective in the room. F that. This is totally on the players who have been assembled, imho -

Maybe a full rebuild is the talisman against Canuck Luck. Let’s find out, it’s time. -
To be fair, it’s very hard to make that determination with his limited NHL experience through. He just dominated on the farm, give him time to catch up to the speed of the real pro league. His age is what worries me a bit though. Can he catch up and/or will he be given the opportunity to? He’s gonna have to show quickly, imho

[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
RWJC replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
Let’s put it this way. He’s as close to being a #1 Dman to this franchise as can be, with what they lack. He’s also quite young, give him time. Elite Dmen take a bit of time to develop into it. Some are anomalies, like Makar - arguably the McDavid of modern day D. If we can obtain or quickly develop a young RHD with speed and size with the characteristics of Mikhail Sergechev to compliment Hughes, our top line D could be set for a decade and would be elite level. Elite. Give it time. I think when he finally settles into his game, which just takes experience and maturity, and balances out into a defensively responsible offensive threat, he will be silky smooth in how he operates and a real treat to watch. Like Erik Karlsson-Esque in his prime. but I’m admittedly a Huggy Homer. -

He could be. He’s broken how many franchise records already? Just needs the right side support. We’re incredibly fortunate to have him rather than some other Dman draft bust that could’ve been. -

It kind of goes without saying that the young core is not what gets traded out in a youth movement rebuild. -
The silver lining of all this is that IF we know we’re out of playoff contention early into the season, the more opportunity there is to secure the best draft position and for mgmt to shop the living sh!t out of our trade block and secure the best deals possible up to TDL and irrespective of some imaginary or hypothetical due date based on our performance and odds of obtaining a wildcard spot. clarity is incredibly valuable to this club now, and is likely one of the major reasons we’ve been mediocre. No clear cut defined path. Love this club. Want to see it rebuilt right. I’ll 100% support the lean years just like I would the winning ones. Think there’s a whole bunch of us that would do the same. Yeah that’s a realistic possibility and all the more reason to truly prepare for the future arms race now. -

Can I make a proposal? We hire KB3 as D coach. Lure Burrows out of MTL to run the PP coaching in cooperation with the Sedins overseeing. Hire Trotz as head coach and let him have complete control over the spectrum and provide mentorship/direction to the new assistants who learn from one of the best. Rebuild this team from the back end out with a defensive minded, two way approach that still enables and supports offense (in the mold of a Darryl Sutter style). hard nosed, hard to play against, committed, and responsible. This will extend Demko’s career and enable him further (potentially earning him a Vezina). edit: this is obviously once we’ve committed to a rebuild and have made some changes and acquired set pieces to begin with Can we just have that once again please? -

I’d say extenSchenn into retirement and then hire as a coach (if he’s willing). He’d be awesome -

Is this from your visit to Amsterdam’s red light district? At least someone is winning…? I feel sick. -

Would love to see some disciplinary action but really what can be done other than some punishing practices? You sit out a guy like JTM and run the risk of it boiling over to something worse. At least we have Yeo to play bad cop. -

Good idea but won’t happen Gurn. Corporate dollars fuel this team top to bottom. Fan walkout won’t do anything aside from create some coarse optics. Any major change will originate from Aquas going through more major scandal. Even then, I’m sure they’d dig in their heels to maintain hold on a cash cow one thing they do deserve credit for though is spending to cap. At least we have that commitment which is huge had this team been able to capitalize on it -

Gofundme for new ownership group? I’ll reach out to some contacts and some reps for Bubbles Buble, VanCityReynolds, Steve Nash, Seth Rogen, and a few others and we can get this ball rollin! -

Thanks for this, much appreciated. What is your perspective in summary though? You think the behaviour we’ve seen in the last 6-7-8 years is tantamount to a club building on each season or one that has flatlined in terms of actual production? If you look at it that way (aside from Bruce bump) this team is stagnant, no? Very stagnant and somewhat directionless.
