  1. Kudos for the positivity. Hope you’re right. Also hope a winning streak eventually means something when it comes to the playoff/wildcard race we are now going to inevitably be in again, and not just Fing up what could be a decent draft position in a great year.
  2. Actually the retool on the fly could have been accomplished successfully. They just failed to address need at the required times. We are struggling because those exact needs have not been addressed in 3 seasons. Go figure. Recipe for complacency and failure when you patch around the wound but not the actual wounds themselves. Sh!tty thing for us fans and everyone or anyone involved in this club is that we have to go through this right now. It’s the culmination of some poor patchwork decisions, timing of contracts, and a failure to forecast or take advantage of the marketplace (and the draft) a bit and instead rest on hopeful laurels and then judge or react from there. I understand it. If the Bruce bump was less impactful I think we’d see a different roster this season. Had to at least give it one last shot before JR reverts back to what he said initially when he came in. He expected there to be some change. He has been patient with it. I’m excited for when he and PA action their plan.
  3. In terms of comparisons imho he’s been good enough defensively. If you watch him though he is trying to do a lot out there to help this club, almost too much, like QH. Pairing him with a guy like EP who sees the ice so clearly and can finish, and Hogz’ effort might be even more measurable in the stat dept. let’s hope anyway
  4. It’s not the goals he scores but the chances his play has been creating. Hogz has been a puck Hog and a major contributor in terms of control.
  5. Sh!t’s gotten real when the Marlboro man shaves off his stache!
  6. Totally, I even speculated that when the early news broke that QH was in limbo. I had no problem with it as it was, more so if it was a guilt trip move (like Garland’s scratch) to wake up the team.
  7. I think he’s more referencing where in the lineup he’s being projected
  8. Good to see fresh ideas. Bad to see we’re back using the line blender again, but oh well
  9. That kind of commitment is what our future should look like.
  10. Yeah totally and look what his influence did last season. The problem is the mindset and overall juice (no not KB3 haha) behind this team. They continually enter the season bunged up, tentative, sloppy… that’s not on coaching. That’s certain players being mentally undisciplined, focused, buying in, what have you. Aside from the assistant coaching changes, what do you notice has changed in Bruce’s own tactics that would cause this team to fall back into old, bad habits and patterns? it’s not him, this team is just perennially weak going into each season and that’s because of the roster makeup and lack of a winning culture. it why it needs to be torn down. to rebuild promise and potential in what could come. this team now almost feels to me as though they are a little entitled. I remember them only showing up for the big games in the past as though they were amongst the alphas, and then blowing chances and playing uninspired against the teams that they should be dominating and accumulating pts against. they just don’t have it as a group. Minor to moderate changes have only perpetuated the issues concerning team chemistry, reliability, camaraderie. How many players come here and likely feel an energy is off? Some of our notable acquisitions in past seasons have come in, played poorly, and then departed indicating that it just wasn’t a good fit. Why is that?? Really? Do they enter a dressing room and immediately find there are cliques or circles and that the team isn’t a whole entity like most other NHL clubs. that’s what I expect is occurring. Bad atmosphere, too much expectation on them to become winners, and not enough players with requisite leadership experience or guttural desire who can truly take this team over and guide it effctively.
  11. I expect it to continue. it’s an oligarch play toy. they’ll just replace the exodus of international players with those from within their geographical boundaries
  12. Nah don’t agree at all. he’s leaving it to the slumping players to get themselves out of it and face responsibility. It’s rare that a coach can enable this through system play…the player has to rely on themselves to force change. They are solely accountable at this point, especially as they are being paid to perform under any reasonable expectation. It’s no different from the real world where anyone has to look at themselves to effect change.
  13. Totally agree, and i’d prefer that but with size. That’s said, smart physical players who can draw penalties (like Garland) are valuable. Swagger only lasts from the smaller guys until they are physically dominated or injured. NHL standard size is much larger now and we need to stay on par or above it going forward.
  14. For sure. #2 might be attainable by trade and is a very attractive player as well. who knows, if we could obtain 2, might be able to flip that for 1, but tagaln our roster would likely be mutilated in the process of this.
  15. Who cares at this point though? it’s not about replacing anyone. It’s about complete culture change now. Bring in players who won’t just acclimate, bring in guys that will take over for this season and build off who cements themselves as compatible in a new leadership group among EP and QH. That should be the focus. A weak and disjointed culture has plagued this team. New blood. Sweeping change.
  16. My only hope is we move to a different kind of roster that isn’t as much dependent on skill to win but equally about pride, hard work, tenacity and guts. One thing a “Canuck” should not be is mentally weak. Embarrassing.
  17. That’s FA with his hand up an arse squeezing out talking points.
  18. That’s fair to a point but given what we saw in terms of fighting back late last season, you’re kind of obligated to see if they could continue the trend this year. They still very well might BUT they’ve exhibited the same issues that have confounded this team in seasons past, that are not sufficiently overcome, and that only continue to put this team behind the 8 ball from the get go which inherently exacerbated every other problem that could be sheltered by some modicum of success. it’s a good group of players that as a collective don’t work well enough together to be considered a “team”
  19. That’s right. And it’s an inevitability that change happens and players come and go. I understand the attachment as a fan, and the rose coloured glasses being imperative as well at times, but I think we all have to take a real look at how long there have been major questions about this group. Questions that shouldn’t be asked about a collection of players as a whole. We don’t hear so much about individual issues like we do with other teams, instead we hear about psychology and the dynamics of who can play with who. Sadly, it’s been a constant and a major distraction. This team can only get better but I think folks have to be willing to accept some turnover for us to get there. Nothing wrong with that, it happens to a degree every season. Reality is, its just not working and hasn’t been for quite some time with whomever is leading this group.
  20. It’s all a bit of a sh!t mix. Not one person. there’s a couple ppl who are totally absolved, but for the most part this is failure across the board
  21. Have to be this, have to be that. sorry Garly, same old song and dance. hope you get to play with a contending club for once when you’re traded.
