That could be presumption and may have come from Gaudette last year or who knows from who though. I can definitely imagine Gaudette lacking awareness and just speaking out loud. There’s just no clear indication Dickinson said anything to the fella directly. I think if anything it’s second hand info/gossip that leaked out from shop talk amongst the players and it being parlayed by a media pundit for attention, even if it’s true.

If we are a dud come TDL, I think the experiment should end and new blood be infused into this team. Not to replace what goes out but to essentially wash hands with the past and aggressively establish a new era. to that end, I would attempt to trade the following at TDL: JTM Bo Boeser Garland Myers OEL Contrary to common perception, I do believe that both Myers and OEL are tradeable assets at that point in the season. OEL already has ARZ eating 1mill of salary. If we offer the same or a bit more there is a team that could very well be inclined to bite. OEL would likely accept a trade too if it meant going to a contender or avoiding playing the last years of his career in a rebuild like he did in ARZ. So what if dealing him results in dead cap. If we are trading out a few of our high priced players we will have a MAJOR abundance of cap space to do whatever we want with anyway. Hell, we could even take on a couple dead cap single-year remaining contracts with that space and accumulated a few more picks and or a prospect or two. we will be gutted for next season and that’s perfect. By trading the above we could officially hand the team over to EP and QH. Rebuild the team from the D out and bring in the right pieces (eg. Bo to BOS for Carlo and a future 1st). I just think as fans we have to be open to the fact that this team might just not be a balanced enough in terms of personnel/personalities as a club to do much of anything consistently and that real change has to occur even if we’re in a wildcard fight for the playoffs. Imho, going nuclear is a great option should the team be failing again by the TDL. it will be the purge that resets the locker room and provides a clear path and identity on who the leadership is going forward. Again, my only concern…is our young core sufficient to be deemed as all around leaders…..?

The JTM trade ship has not sailed yet. he will still be worth a good haul at the TDL should a playoff team need a cheap boost before this season. His co tract is on par with what anyone of his ilk would get in Free Agency. It’s not as big a long term risk to a perennial playoff team as some think, especially when cap will be going up.

They’re not horrible, just imbalanced. When Bruce says mentally weak, you know what that also indicates? They don’t (currently) have the makeup of a club that can hold their own in the playoffs, where that is a game of mental strength and attrition. toughness and tenacity does not make a team, but it is the glue that holds together a club who feels they belong in the playoffs. Considering how many times in post game media scrums we’ve heard “we’ve got to get better” at this or that…no, certain aspects you just don’t get better at unless you have the corresponding personnel that inherently exhibit those traits. my single-most thesis for why this team struggles is because you have one set of players opting to play a finesse game in utilizing the abundance of skill we have at F, and another set realizing that it takes more than just that skill set to endure an 82 game schedule in what might be the most physically challenging mainstream sport. the more players a team has taking the body, playing responsible and efficient coverage, and the ability to trust your linemates on their assignments, the less space there is for the opposition to enforce their set plays. Solid forechecking/backchecking places a drag on the speed of the opposition’s game when inertia has to be recreated or a player is delayed and out of position after contact. What we see often are flybys, which does nothing in terms of countering the opponent or making their game more difficult to enact. It certainly does nothing to slow the other team down. One of the major issues during the Green regime was having team buy in on the defensive side of the game. Totally inconsistent and possibly even opposed. hence the Bruce bump under a freed up system play. the problem isn’t just the buy in defensively. It’s also the guys who can play that way doing so very inconsistent at times. Love JTM and Bo, but both are often guilty on not showing up at times for their defensive assignment and Bo especially for not making the opponents life a little miserable. So then begs the question…what type of player do JTM and Bo think they are? I would say both offensive minded and forced to play a defensive game (with Bo taking that on more than JTM because of his role/responsibility/character). it’s a tough call. I don’t think it’s so much a conflict of egos, but more so a general mistrust in that certain players will play a game that the whole has agreed they will play to be successful. That tension causes resentment and blame, and at that point a player begins to play for certain other players on the team and not just for everyone. im hopeful that a win tonight will kick them in the a$$ and they are able to turn the page. I would love to see this team succeed as is but I also feel that inconsistency will slowly devour the morale this team should have built by now. Bad habits and patterns have been established. It’s time for some accountability on the ice.

That last statement is a dangerous admission. Be careful. Maintain your brain cells and ignore Dhali when he spews his acidic vomit

One thing to think about...Bruce indicated they are mentally weak. That's not just an on-ice issue, that exists in the room as a whole. A lack of belief and/or confidence in themselves or one another (save for a few players - you rule EP). I think there's a real, passive energy from one side of the room that conflicts with the aggressive/urgent types and the issues arrive because these counter-types are intermingled on line sets together. That exists and works with so many other teams, but not with this one for some reason. Would explain allllll the line juggling we've seen over the past few years.

If you've ever been in a competitive sports dressing room you'll know there's as much gossip bandied about as a nail salon. It likely just leaked out from player's talking. I don't think he's the type to say something directly to media like that. he's not an idiot (i hope).

Not to mention Dickinson showed no sign of having poor character while he was here. he struggled, owned up to it, and was refreshingly candid and honest in his interviews. i put stock into it. i've always believed there is a generational gap in mentality/personality within the roster of this club. its evolution, progress will be made out of the conflict, and I hope if/when the time comes that PA/JR make some incredible deals for the future of the franchise. Can't say I have the utmost faith in Rutherford with his record. Fingers crossed though.

Maybe you should both get a room and settle it there rather than here. -

…and willing to go to battle for your teammates when needed or required. getting into scrums and some players just avoiding the chirping is fine because it’s just not their game. But until there’s an across the board buy-in that you’re a team, the loser mentality will prevail and certain players will play as individuals. there’s a real lack of cohesion when it comes to putting it on the line for the player next to you -

Have you watched Miller give up on certain plays? That’s not snarl, Stawns, that’s complacency and self-indulgence. He will return to form and play better, but to have your marquee player be inconsistent with their 2 way play, especially when he eats mins like he does, displays a lack of responsibility to both his own role and the rest of the team. I love JTM, but this give up on the play bullish!t has to stop if he’s going to earn his contract or be considered a real leader. Snarl is what you get from Schenn and Burroughs and Lazar. If you think we don’t need more of that type of tenacity and focus then I don’t know what you’re watching. -

One aspect of snarl is it doesn’t take well to losing. That’s what we need more of. -

Yeah or what Burkie did to secure the twins. For anyone thinking a deal can’t be made to obtain Bedard only has to review history. It’s entirely possible. the question is, what will it cost and will it decimate the roster or other areas? If we couldn’t obtain Bedard, we’d at least have a plethora of 1st round picks to use in either reassembling a roster or stocking the cupboard. Either way, in order to satisfy retaining them in the future, at that point the team will require being reconstructed around EP, QH, Podz and TD and that age demo
