And that’s my point… Cinderella runs happen because of heart and will, in absence of greater skill, in overcoming the deficits. this team has a ton of skill, but not the heart or will yet to match it. -

Fair enough, but a few cup final visits showed that at one point this team had guts and balls and was willing to put it all out there to win. don’t have the same feel or belief in this club in recent years. Still have hope and will root for them until my days end, but the vibe just isn’t there -

Well, tbh they’re well paid professionals and represent a fan base. They’ve played competitive hockey their entire lives, so if a fanbase in an uproar gets them a little deflated, then so be it. they’re not children and it’s not a playground. -

Here’s how it happens: Let the season unfold as it may. You don’t do anything to repair the existing issues and allow the players to dictate how the season goes. Only stop gap repairs. We are saddled with serious cap issues already to begin with so it’s not like we are going to be able to miraculously rebuild our D without it having a real cost upfront in shedding a major salary. Depending on what is displayed throughout the season whether it’s chemistry, personalities, coaching, you trudge through another full season all the while in the meantime planning for direct and significant roster change. you trade either JTM or Bo or both at the deadline this year for a Dman and a next year’s 1st. Chances are if those two are dealt the team will fall lower in the standings (which is the business minded approach to take regardless when failing to execute and secure a playoff spot) and our 1st will move closer to the bottom. You wait until the draft order is settled Then prior to draft you deal away our 1st for next year, our 1st for 2014, the 1st received in a deal for JTM or Horvat, and/or an upper level roster player like Boeser or a recent 1st round pick like Lekkerimaki in a package for 1st overall/Bedard. it is a huge gamble, but it can be achieved. It’s not a hair brained attempt if the plan was to rebuild anyway because you’ve then accumulated 3, maybe 4, 1st round picks. let’s face it…if this iteration of this team can’t be successful with allllll the recent roster changes, coaching changes, mgmt changes, then there is rot somewhere and it needs to be dealt with. This team is being given every chance to succeed. the players are being catered to. If they fail, it’s on them, and it’s time to face facts that way. now do I condone this? Absolutely not at the moment, but if we have dug another huge hole by Xmas, I’m fully onboard to blow this team up. To me that even includes consideration of trading QH, as much as I love him on this team. im f’ing done with the loser mentality. I really am. It’s plagued this roster for 5 years now. -

One of the high price contracts will be moved before attempts made at EP being re-signed. There is not the money to go round and fix our D for next season, and I like Myers and thinks he bring way more to the team than most, but his contract is another year as well. I don’t think Rutherford will afford this team another season of futility unless the plan shifts to legitimately burn a year to pursue Bedard. Hard to imagine that as well. only option to bring balance to the force is to trade out big money and any attitude/effort issues to revamp the D. Not sure who that will be but it’s almost a certainty going into next season if this one is a bust. -

Totally. Made himself an example out of that closed door players meeting. Good on him. That’s the version we need every game from him, he’s that important to this club -

Chill with the language, dude. Unnecessary, ya know? May be best for your mental health that you take a break anyway -

And yet we’re incredibly lucky that Schenn is the player he is and for that cap hit. Huge positive that he’s able to play the mins he has and still be integral in many ways -

Hopefully not. Toffoli too streaky and slow in contrast to some of our new F. We need consistency at every level. -

Yeah perhaps the offseason (lead up to and having a baby) messed with his training regime? Who knows, he doesn’t look good right now though and he’s only bringing it upon himself. Hope he turns it around quick because his play is not leadership material atm. -

Hate to question it but what if the issue is the demeanour of our youth?? EP is bringing it this year but maybe the personalities are too many of the varied/passive? EP/BB/QH all high skill players with very lower key personalities. they are looked upon by everyone as also being current leadership of this team. Have been for a couple years now. maybe that’s the problem? -

This isn’t the coach’s fault that certain individuals aren’t playing to expectation. That’s on the player. The coach is providing the opportunity to shake it off. it’s not a programming issue. It’s individual errors in reading the game, playing positionally sound, responsibility and unfortunately an air of entitlement with certain players that their game will come around while they continue to fail on focusing on just making the simple, smart play. there is also adjustment with new linemates. This is not on Bruce…yet. -

As a message to the players. Be accountable, or your well-liked teammate suffers for it. he doesn’t deserve the benching but he gets it because they’re failing their assignments. I would actually bench JTM next game. not just sit him a few shifts. Press box him. -

Not if he’s traded (too) first not condoning that of course, but we really are reaching a tipping point with this roster soon -
