Horvat owes it to his captaincy to drop the mitts first shift and spark the boys. -

Wonder if Petey is Hungover from having his birthday in Vegas. -
I know Shero and Lombardi were. I would have to think Davidson was as well. They say a GM will usually get to try 2-3 coaches before they get fired. I think when you look at the turnover of failed rosters in here, Aquilini would feel like Benning is trying. Benning was handcuffed in the beginning because they were trying to give the Sedins and aging core 1 or 2 last runs. Then all the previous NTCs handcuffed him when it didn’t work out. So it all comes down to if Aquilini believes in Benning or not. Does he get one more chance with a new coach? I personally feel that he will because Green was meant to be there to instil work ethic in a young transitioning team. Green has Peaked with this club however and it’s time for a real coach who can coach .500+ hockey in the NHL. If that fails, I would say that Benning is gone by June of 2023 at the latest.

I think it’s happened 3x in the last decade where a coach was let go on an underachieving team by american Thanksgiving and those teams went on to win the cup in the same season. I know LA, Pitts and St Louis all did that. I’m not sure if there have been more. Sometimes the coach IS the issue and playing the wrong system for the type of players he has. I feel this is one of those situations.

Blue Jackets to retire Rick Nash’s No. 61

I look at it like us and Smyl. Just trying to get that one player up to the rafters that was a fan favourite. But with Seattle retiring #32 before they’d even played a regular season game, I’ve learned that anything is possible. -
[Hypothetical] Who should replace Travis Green?

Ahhh okay, I hadn’t realized that ended I just remembered the Torts, McLellan and Chirelli hidings costing other teams draft picks. -

I’ve heard some great names with experience. Nolan, Stevens, Boudreau. My only concern is that ownership will pick another bargain bin coach. I’ve heard lots of speculation that they’re too cheap to hire a good coach. -

1 cup in Detroit. He’s still getting paid 8 million/year by Toronto. I don’t think he’s giving that up or that the Canucks would match that. Also I do believe since his rights belong to Toronto, we’d have to compensate them with draft picks. -

As long as the Players all had fun, that’s the important thing. -

we’ve had 1 shot in the last 8 minutes. Pretty hard to make a comeback at that pace. -

A team usually mirrors the attitude of the city it represents.... Teams are meant to be easy for the local fanbase to identify with. -

What comes first? A top 5 pick in the 2022 draft for the Canucks, or a new coach? -

Yikes! -
Edler looked good from 22-24. But he made lots of braindead plays even as he was really experienced. I don’t think his skill was ever in question. He just made lots of high risk passes in his own end up the middle and his speed was really fading by the time he hit 30.

Benning is 9th longest tenured GM, it seems that the average GM lasts 8-10 years, so you’re probably right, his time is drawing near.
-
Yakupov played 350 games which is 4-5 seasons. Yes he was a huge letdown I’m sure because he was taken #1, but he still played the average length of nhl careers. - Dal Colle is still active and signed to the islanders, he could resurge as well. 111 games. - Reinhart.... complete bust. I see him and Joulevi in the same light. The outside shot is that dal colle and/or Joulevi could rebound. But probably both will join Reinhart in complete bust territory. And if Joulevi never plays another game in the NHL, I’d label him the biggest bust of this whole group.

It probably literally makes no difference to him. He’s won a Super Bowl, he’s made 263 million in his career. And he’s guaranteed another 98 million on his current contract, even if he NEVER plays another game. Do you honestly think that a small market team is going to sit out a guy over something as stupid as a vaccine and still pay him 98 million? If they felt that strong about it, they’d trade him and there would be 20-25 teams lining up to try and acquire him. The difference between Canada and America is that in America 50% of the people still believe in freedom of choice. In Canada you’d better believe what the news and government tells you to.
