Very True.

I remember on that Dinosaurs(muppet) show from the 90s that when they turned 70, they’d get thrown off a cliff into a tar pit.

I feel that all leaders do this and have been doing this forever. They don’t want scientists to challenge the narrative. You can even see it today.

Canada just looks like they’re in over their heads. I like women’s soccer better as they don’t flop all over the place like how the “men” do.

Harper was bad, but Justin is much more worse. Both were globalists, but Justin doesn’t even do things beyond his drama class tactics to pretend that he cares about Canada.

Yes I saw springer even do this a couple times when they’re down, rather than go yard, as leadoff he tries getting on base as the next 4 can hit homeruns too. -

I would almost suspect that it’s a manager thing if it keeps creeping up. -

Berrios looked great. 6 strong innings, that slider and/or curve looks nasty. -
I don’t know. But JB has been producing on average one NHLer every draft even with giving away those draft picks. Prior to him going back up until the sedins’ draft year the Canucks were averaging about 1 NHL player once every 1.75 years. So say what you will but JB has done a good job at drafting compared to the years before he got here.

[Discussion] Escalating market price for defencemen (Quinn Hughes)
Bure_of_94 replied to grandmaster's topic in Canucks Talk
I have a sneaking suspicion that he only wants 5 years tops. The draft day interview with his brothers, I kind of got the feeling from things all 3 were saying that they’d like to play together and New Jersey is the place that makes it easiest to happen. I was perusing the defenseman salaries today in the nhl. There’s 13 that make at least 8. 26 that make at least 6.5, And 34 that make 6 or more. I feel that Quinn will make 6-7 on 2-3 years if he gives Vancouver a discount. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see him making any less than 6. -

Anyone know much about the reliever we picked up today. I’m familiar with the name, but would be lying if I could say I know his pitches or can recall him. -

Berrios is a good pick up. Hefty price though. Hopefully it helps out. edit; it’s okay though. We’re pretty stacked with Bichette, biggio, semien(if we keep him) so it makes sense to use prospect capital to have a pitcher that can help the young core out now. -

Yes I’m glad we did. Although a couple years back I would have loved to have him. He was intense and hated the Astros for cheating and wasn’t shy about it. Looking at his sideshow though, I’d agree that we dodged a bullet. -

This is sooo cool. I’m new here. You guys even have a blue jays place to discuss!! I think where the blue jays fail is pitching. We need a more solid 3-4 in the rotation and some better bullpen arms. Hopefully hand helps lol a helping Hand. But we need better arms in there. Our slugging and our hitting in my opinion is good, our defence is good. But we need better pitching and possibly a better manager. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Brady Keeper
Bure_of_94 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yes, that’s very true. When you’re playing 3-pairs and one of your normal 6 go down it can be very challenging. Growing up I had the same D-partner for 7 years. When he wasn’t there or got injured it was very hard adjusting to another partner. The coach would try various combos or switching me to the left. IMO when you have a 5 D game, it’s very hard. I’d rather play with 4 just about. I’d imagine at the nhl level it’s very different though, guys can probably better adjust, but I would think it throws them off a little bit. As for Keeper, I looked him up and hope that he gets a shot if we have injuries. Seems like a good player who tries hard and would play his guts off if in the big lineup. -
I recall them saying that, but I have a tough time believing that. Usually when someone is holding your star kid for longer than necessary at least the coaches are watching to try and lobby for a holding/interference penalty. But yes, you refreshed my old memory lol, I remember Matheson not answering the bell. I wish we had gone after Huburdeau at that point... not to hurt him but just rough him up a little to send a message to matheson.

I think the nhl set the precedence for this. When Wilson pulled up on his stick while pounding Buchnevich’s head down (Sneakily the dirtiest thing I’ve ever seen in any hockey league anywhere) then proceeded to power bomb Panarin. I can’t imagine fans here taking it to well if someone like lucic did something like attacked Hoglander and then choke slammed Pettersson and only got $5000 as discipline. I personally feel now that mr Reaves and mr Wilson have 7 or 8 dates lined up and as an old hockey fan, am looking forward to it.

Elias Pettersson | Quinn Hughes - Contract Discussion Thread
Bure_of_94 replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
That’s True. Looking through all NHL D contracts, there’s a whole plethora of unimpressive D-men making 5.5-6.5/season. I bet Hughes gets at least 6.5. The thing that worries me is having Brisson and Barry as his agents(same as Pettersson). Both are known to be real sharks. -
I really hope Schenn, Hamonic and the Pool boy can really bring dependable gritty D. edit: hilarious autocorrect for Poolman, but I’m keeping it
