  1. The wording I heard was that we wanted to SECURE a young center, not necessarily get one in return. I'm betting they had a Boeser for Kotka offer going on, and the plan was to do these two deals in conjunction with each other but NOT JUST ONE OR THE OTHER. The immediate hatred is not deserved until we have more context to base it off of.
  2. Man Boldy is a special player. Aside from that, so much fun to watch that game. Burroughs has a bomb of a right hook!!
  3. He's better defensively than Chychrun is with a harder shot, but older and has less offensive instinct. I think these two deals will be very interesting to watch given how close they were in value.
  4. I disagree, by the WAR metric he's a top Dman in the league. I would comfortably call him a #2/3 with the potential to improve to a 1B kind of guy. He is our Honk now. Long live the mighty Honk.
  5. You can only have the rights for 90 players, and contracts for 50. They have 43 picks over the next 3 drafts. I expect them to trade up like crazy these next few years and pick some of the big name fallers.
  6. Leonard vs Smith sounds like the Jack Quinn vs Marco Rossy debate, where one is expected to go higher and has a more electric game, where the other will probably be the better all around guy in the future. In this case, Will Smith is Marco Rossi.
  7. I will only ever call this man Honk until it catches on. Thank you for bestowing this upon me, your good deed has not gone unnoticed.
  8. Not gonna lie, I was hoping to get the Hronek trade before @-Vintage Canuck-so I could call it “WE DID THE THING” Darn you, you AI/Dan Murphy hybrid.
  9. This was after. I remember it popping up on my Twitter feed
  10. Howdy! So, Dallas is going on a bit of a skid right now after a hot start, and a lot of their top guys are starting to slow down, at 3-3-4 in their last 10. Their cap situation is fine, the problem is they don't have all of the pieces they need to get them over the top. Especially now, when they're sliding out of the top spot in the Central and morale is at a low. With Seguin and Benn slowing down, there's too much cap here for too little performance. With the west being so wide open this year, and them having one of the best goalies in the league, it may be worth it to make a huge splash to push into the playoffs. For that reason, I would go and offer: JT Miller (1x5.25; 7x8) + Tanner Pearson (LT-IR, 2x3.25 when healthy/over summer) + Curtis Lazar (3x1) 6.25 this year, 12.25 next year, 9 the next, 8 following For Jamie Benn (3x9.85) + Lian Bichsel + 2024 Protected 1st 9.5 total Why do we do this? I hate Benn too for the "Sedin sisters" comments, but we gain some much needed cap space going into next offseason, along with a decent defensive prospect and a mid-late 1st we can keep or flip. We pick up more immediate cap, but lose no long term space. Jamie Benn is also the perfect power forward to teach Podz even if Benn isn't performing, similarly to Sundin with the Sedins. He can also play C, which allows him to take JT's spot. Next year: Beau - Petey - Kuz Mikheyev - Benn - Podkolzin Hog - Raty/Aman - Boeser/Garland (Assuming one is sent packing in the offseason) Why would Dallas do this? Seguin has another 4 years after this at 9.5 million per year on the cap, and they've been playing pretty terribly of late. If they want to win in an easy conference, they may as well go now. This deal opens up over 3 million in immediate cap-space they can use on rentals. What if it doesn't work? Well, JT has a good chance to maintain his form alongside Jason Robertson or Wyatt Johnston, and Lazar/Pearson are both useful pieces that will help them next year that also fit into their cap. For playoffs: Robertson - Hintz - Pavelski Miller - Johnston - Dadonov Marchment - Seguin - Dellandrea Lazar - Faksa - Olofsson Pearson can take Dadonov's spot next season, or slide in on 3RW if Dellandrea earns it.
  11. Pittsburgh has 3 centers on their active rosters now that they traded Blueger. They must be getting a C somewhere, probably Schmaltz or even Boyd. Obviously, dream is Miller.
  12. I just mean that next year, we're over the cap even though we need to re-sign guys. It's supposed to be relatively flat for next season, and we're at 83.2.
  13. You can re-sign guys a year in advance. I expect Allvin/Rutherford won't want this guy to improve his stock with a career year at 26 without a contract in place.
  14. I have a crucial midterm on Friday so obviously I'm going to keep working on this
  15. Just because we did really well with the Bo deal, doesn't mean we should forgive them immediately for this one. I support this group because I would be driven insane otherwise, but this isn't the move to make when you're sitting at 27th in the league. We're currently OVER the cap for 2023/24, which means more players need to go. I assume we're going to sign this guy to something in the ballpark of 8x6.5 over the summer, so what happens next? Beau - Petey - Kuz Mikheyev - Miller - Garland Hog/Pearson(?) - Lazar? - Boeser Joshua - Aman - Podz Hughes - xxxx/Schenn? OEL - Hronek Rathbone(?) - Myers Someone needs to be dealt or bought out, because right now we cannot afford extensions to Bear or Kravtsov.
  16. Tells me that if we don't make a move by Friday to get us under the ceiling, we're going to have to buy out decent players and/or attach real value to those contracts.
  17. I believe this suggests that this new skate logo will be here a while, although most likely as a third jersey rather than a permanent one.
  18. Honestly don't think it's worth it. Would you rather one potential star, or two potential top line/pairing guys? I'd say the second one.
  19. How about a framework of: Miller, Demko, Schenn For Jarry, Marcus Pettersson, Pickering, First, Second
  20. They clear all of Friedman's cap regardless, and half (I think) of McGinn's cap if he makes it through.
  21. They just waived over $3.5 million in cap, this is real!
  22. OOOOOOOOOOO Watch Demko and Miller be packaged to the penguins lmao.
  23. Shayna is the insider who pulled the individual pieces for the Meier trade.
