[GDT] ‘Tis the Dog Days of Summer, Are we Thinging Before Training Camp?
AngryElf replied to AngryElf's topic in Canucks Talk
I hear you there. Trust me, I would also like him but I still just don't think he'll be much better than a Dermott or even a McWard. Better competition for training camp though, and that's priceless. -

I don't know if he's anything more than a replacement level player at this point, but getting him while his dad coaches the defensive corps would be really cool! -

Lmao bro I'm having fun, as are many others who've mimicked this shtick both here and in the last thread. Being a little silly sometimes is a good de-stresser, and if you've kept up with my story (which is public and easily accessible on this forum) then you'll know that I could really use one at this time. Why is this the hill you're willing to die on? -
[GDT] ‘Tis the Dog Days of Summer, Are we Thinging Before Training Camp?
AngryElf replied to AngryElf's topic in Canucks Talk
Hmm... No. First, it's my thread and I don't have to boring-ify things for random people online just because they call it "cringe" and two, I did the same shtick for the TDL. May as well make it a tradition -
Woahhhh

Not unexpected. I don't know anything about him, can someone give me a quick run-down?

WE MIGHT BE DOING A THING, WE'RE TALKING TO BUFFALO -
25-30 come on. There was no chance he makes it past 15.
-
Poor kid, that's hilarious though xD
-
So what does Montreal do? Trade or pick?
-
He also won the Hobey Baker as a draft eligible freshman. He's going to be insane.
-
That's a real surprise, wow

Howdy! The TDL thinging thread got a lot of traction and had an insane amount of pages, mainly because we all thought Miller would be a penguin. Now I ask you this, what things will be… thunged… in the coming days and weeks? Are we doing big things, small things, bringing back little thinger himself? Here’s the latest thing we might be thinging:

I'm honestly so hurt. Met a girl at the same time I was getting out of an abusive 4 year relationship, and she ended up being the reason I got through it. We started going out about 5 months later, and man it was always the most natural interaction of my life. I'd never met someone so down to earth, and thoughtful, while also being really logical and smart. Honestly, I could see a real future with her even though we weren't together very long, and she saw the same. During this time I was diagnosed with ASD, and she fully supported me and was patient enough to deal with my struggles (notably loving people a lot harder than others, and feeling physical manifestations of emotional pain). She left for a school trip a month ago, and I just discovered she met someone else from a different province, and now they've been shacking up. There's a significant age gap to the point where I worry about grooming, but she used our relationship to fuel a forbidden love, while also doing it in a way that violated my trust in every possible way. When talking about it, she's completely emotionless and doesn't feel any sort of regret or remorse towards me, which is completely unlike her. She said she isn't stopping with him. Before she left, she bawled in my arms whenever I talked about what I used to endure, from my ex and other areas of my life. The physical and emotional abuse I dealt with on a daily basis for over a year, she was an empath who could feel my pain. She was so shocked that so many women in my life, whom I'd trusted so much, could take advantage of me in a way that I was left completely powerless. I explained in a long letter that what she did was, in many ways, worse than what I had dealt with before; the very thing she cried over. Her response? "Welp, guess I'm worse than (ex)." I don't know what changed, or why she's being so short, but I'm worried something worse actually happened and she's sabotaging the relationship? I know her, I love her, and I know this isn't her, and frankly I don't know what to do with myself... or the $700 plane tickets I bought to visit her and friends in a couple weekends. Plus, I'm at the point where I have to wonder if this is all my fault. Not just in this relationship, but I've been in far too many positions where people have taken advantage of me, and at this point I just want to be loved without any ulterior motive. I mentioned my abusive ex, who took up almost all of my high school years and has made it so I don't know how to experience personal growth alone. I was nearly arrested due to fake assault allegations by someone I'd only briefly known. A dear friend of mine at the time insinuated that she would off herself if I didn't fulfill certain physical need... then attempted suicide. Now this. I know I'm young, have a bright future ahead of me in sport, physics, and life as a whole, but I don't know how to deal with this. I've had awful back pain and gastro problems since I found out yesterday and I don't want to get out of bed. I have an appointment next week with my counsellor, but it can't come soon enough. On a very simple level, I just want the sad feelings and bad people to go away.

Valter Sedin (Hank’s kid) plays for the caps. A large number of Canucks brass were at his debut a couple weeks back. I’ve seen him play a few times, and that kid is going to Europe someday. Crazy good work ethic and he’s a phenomenal player at only 17.

Aquilini was livid that Canucks picked Juolevi over Tkachuk
AngryElf replied to -DLC-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I mean, would you take Tkachuk or Petey going forwards? I take Matthew tbh. -
Actually no. I was at the signings at the end of the season, and I'd say 5'9 is pretty accurate. Definitely not 5'5

Can we start a go fund me for Bedard to go to the NCAA?
AngryElf replied to canuckster19's topic in Canucks Talk
It’s twice in 5 years. -
You see, I’m imagining that happening a lot… mainly because he’ll have already flipped our logo a turn or two ago.

2022-23 Abbotsford Canucks Thread
AngryElf replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Damn it -
I hear what you're saying, but smaller guys in the NHL have already learned how to deal with opposing size. Notice how Quinn Hughes, a smaller player, walks around guys in the defensive zone after he wins the puck, they're always behind him. As long as his momentum is in the same direction as the other player he can't be hit, just pushed. It's that type of experience that makes a difference between kids and men. As well, small doesn't always mean "weaker," just look at Kyle Burroughs. There are weaker kids in this tournament, that's just how it goes.

...except size is overpowered in these tournaments. Most of these kids haven't put on all their muscle yet, so those who have those natural advantages tend to show better.
