The only issue is ...WTF kind of hockey do we watch in the meantime? -

What talk and bluster? We're hearing nothing from management. Either horribly embarrassed (they should be), or they have absolutely no idea what to do next. -

That was so bad in so many ways. Holy f#×k, this team is s#&*t. I've never been a tanker, but i've never seen so many good players be so bad. -

Try being 73 and having watched this team from day 1. I stay very healthy just so I can live long enough to see a cup, haha!- 579 replies

It wasn't a good game, but it wasn't a horrible game. But hey, Canada beat Sweden. Happy New Year everyone, and thanks for being so entertaining. -

Yeah, and I put a lot of that on our C and two As. Lack of cohesion can be improved with good (great) leadership on and off the ice. Bo is playing and scoring now like a talented Captain should, but it feels like he only started that as he approached contract time. Miller's and OEL's on ice leadership is suspect to say the least. It doesn't feel like they have the personalities or consistent performance to generate great team performance. -

To become the best he can be, Quinn needs to work on his shot like Kesler did. The free-wheeling we saw last night was always there, and coupled with his consistent great breakouts and blue line protection/passing, with a powerful shot (and stay-at-home partner) he would be our ultimate scoring defenseman. -

There were times where it looked like Bo was a defenseman. He played a good game. -

No kidding. One of the best games defensively that they've played in awhile. Merry Xmas everyone! -
I agree, but they still have a job to do. Everybody feels better when they go to their place of work and know they've done their best. When you do your best work, you get your best results. When you get your best results, you want to repeat. I suspect Bear, coming from the outside of the organization, may have seen something that could make a difference. He may be right, and I appreciate him speaking out.

I agree. In large part it's bad timing. All these moves that need to be made when the cap is static, and all these teams right at the cap. -

I honestly don't think Aquilini's motivation is money when it comes to the Canucks. The family's net worth is 3.3 billion. In their best years the Canucks net revenue is 50 million Canadian.....chump change when you consider the Aquilini income from other sources. I believe they will spend what it takes. The problem is they think they know what it takes. -

Yep, I've been watching for 52 years and playoffs aren't good enough. I'd so like to see a Stanley cup just once even before I'm gone. -

Does anyone have details on Ethan Bear's statement about the team wanting to have fun too much, and the need to get to work? And about coaching being too nice? Sounds right to me. On the road, they're together as a team, away from family/friend distractions, and it seems they play a lot better. At home their record is what 5 of 15? I remember a time years ago when their home record was pathetic and the players weren't allowed to go home for, I think a couple of weeks. And it worked! Staying in hotels together, away from their families, brought them back together as a team. That probably wouldn't be allowed in today's powder puff society, but something like that may be what these powder puff players need. -

Random thoughts: Martin and Schenn were our best players last night. Stillman wasn't actually too bad (can't fight though). Miller had a decent game, except for that horrible giveaway. Petey's gotta shoot more, especially on the PP. I know he's always covered, but he's shown he's capable of moving out of coverage. Actually everyone has to shoot more, and hit the f'n net. Bo's not being the leader he should be; no sacrifice at all to set the example for the rest of the players. The 3rd and 4th lines played their part pretty well. Our defense is so pathetic. Minnesota had way too much open ice time in our end, with no one forcing the puck away from them. No question their size and grit helped their board battles, but Geez our defense just stands around and lets them shoot? How about blocking some shots? . I went to the Buffalo and Carolina games in October and sat through embarrassing losses. Cost me over $1000.00 for tickets, hotel, meals and gas. I'd planned two more games in either late January or February, but that ain't gonna happen. Not going to waste anymore money just to be angry and disappointed. I've been a fan or follower for 52 years and many nights now I just turn the tv off. And it's not like this gawd awful hockey hasn't happened before. It's that we do have some special talent who don't show the ability to get their s't together. -

I'm starting to think Rutherford may have a plan. It's great that we've got our potentially phenomenal offensive threat, but he's added good support. How did we get Bear for a 5th rounder? Others are doing damn well in their roles; guys like Lazar & Joshua, -

Well, that was pathetic! It's not the structure of the play, but rather the structure of the team. This is not a team that is technically capable of each player supporting the other. Some really good players, but they don't seem to be able to work together. Can BB fix it? I don't think so. I think it's a management fix, and that's going to take time, gawdammit. So tired of every year being the same f&*#ing thing.
