  1. Wish Olli all the best, and a good organization for him to grow in. Guessing he becomes a decent no 4 to 6 D for them.
  2. And I also think there's no chance that Miller stays in Van if they do trade him
  3. It takes two to dance. It never was a question of if we like him and want him. It is if he wants to stay, and if he does, what it is going to cost us. I hope a team pays us at the deadline.
  4. JR will, as I have mentioned previously, have a lot of authority out of respect and his experience. Furthermore, if JR's ultimate goal aligns with Aqua, ie. retooling to always make the playoffs, Aqua will definitely provide a lot of room to JR without interfering. However, as an investor or boss, there is zero chance he doesn't 'diddle' with his business affair. Once again, I'm sure they both agreed on Aqua's bigger direction and JR has the reign to make the immediate moves that aligns with that.
  5. Well comparing to Kane is a bit of an extreme lol. I don't doubt JR's passion for hockey and Aqua's respect for JR. However, unless JR is running a charity show, he took the job because there were financial incentives, and that is a factor just as much as passion. It was a lot of meddling rumor from Aqua previously due to a clash in the bigger direction between him and his management team. Aqua was never pro proper rebuild, and wanted quick retools for a playoff chance each year. If that belief aligns with JR, and was confirmed during their initial conversation, along with JR's previous track record, I don't think Aqua needs to meddle as much.
  6. Obviously he took the job because he needs the work. It is ultimately Aqua's team, and he will always have the final say. I'm sure Aqua has a lot of respect for JR, and may provide JR with more authority than JimB, but Aqua is still the boss.
  7. Love your enthusiasm Alf. I pray it comes true as it would be a hellofa day for Nucks Nation!
  8. I dont mind this idea but it scares me to think our insurance pick is only based on a year assessment. I almost rather get full concussion discount plus another great young player or prospect like Newhook and we give them a pick if Byram reaches certain amount of games with us.
  9. Sure. However it is mitigating that risk factor as much as possible when trading from a position with the proven commodity. We should inquire and have a complete visibility of Byram's medical record, and also ensure we are getting the concussion risk discount on his price. We could take a chance on Byram, but for Miller, they can't use Byram as the centerpiece alone. They would at least need to add equal value, even if that means a lesser pick is coming back to us, or we're adding on our end.
  10. Once again, that is something none of us knows for sure at the moment. Kane definitely has a history and people doubting about his presence in our locker room had reasonable rights. People are bringing stats to say "See I'm right you're wrong" when once again, the argument against Kane was never production. Just to add, I actually didn't mind us taking a chance on Kane as it was pretty low risk. However my point stands that his current point production is irrelevant to the argument people on this topic were making against Kane being brought over.
  11. I meant if they are suddenly bringing Byram into the trade conversation, when they were not before... just speculation as we dont know what really happened before, but just saying they might have more insigh on his health issues and we should really do our due diligence before proceeding with any negotiations regarding Byram.
  12. That is usually how it is for any high profile player until the deadline. Both teams playing hardball and seeing who flinches first. Also, rightfully so, we should set a very high price and not trade Miller for less than what he is worth. Doesn't mean there won't be any trades at TDL. Just strictly posturing until the last second, and seeing who is more desperate.
  13. Not exactly sure why you guys are posting stats. I don't think it ever was a question of if Kane can produce... we all knew he had a high chance of success statistically, especially with offensively talented players. The dilemma was always if those stats can make up for his off ice liabilities, and the negative influence he could bring to the locker room. Not saying he is already spreading cancer in the Oilers room, but posting stats isn't really proving anything since the argument was never production.
  14. We finally have a great checking line with commendable chemistry that can play against any lines and brings a consistency we've not experienced in a long time. Motte is an integral part of that line, and I see him only getting better in that environment. I think we should do all we can to keep the line intact, as long as his demand is not anything crazy. 2.25 for 4 years sounds like a good middle for both.
  15. I'd say it is a big red flag if Colorado suddenly starts listening or including him into conversations. Not only Juulsen but we have seen a similar unfortunate trajectory first hand with Juolevi. Any type of recurring injury at such young age should be a major deterrent to a trade, especially one involving our best trade chip in Miller.
  16. Out of the playoffs but low as possible in drafts you mean.
  17. Nothing seriously wrong of course, although I'm not sure if I can agree he has gotten better every year. He is a good young forward but I don't see star potential in him like Laff has. I'm sure Kaapo will have a successful career as a top 6 winger, but we shouldn't settle for that when we're dangling JT Miller, even after his interview almost solidifying his future, or non of, with Vancouver.
  18. Id be all for 50% retained on Miller if it gave us both Laff and Schneider in the deal... however I'm not sure if it is incentive enough for Rags to give up 2 of their top blue chips. I just have a hard time seeing them part with both. Also, I dont want Rathbone to be used as a sweetener... yet. Id like to see what we have in him before making further assessment. He definitely has the offensive potential. I get there is a bit of an overlap with Hughes, but we could probably pump his value up a bit in the next 2 years and get a real asset back in a position we lack, maybe for a 2nd pairing steady RD or an elite 3C.
  19. Fair enough, but is there any other RD in their system you'd want? Obviously Fox is out of the equation, and I don't think Rags are going to offer both Laff and Schneider in the same deal. I may be wrong, and I'd be a happy wrong if we do end up with both. Point is, I just see more superstar potential in Laff than Schneider, and I think that's the type of future potential we should be aiming for in a Miller return over a good steady No 2 3D.
  20. Hey, if the Rags are offering that, I'll chase JT Miller out myself. That's a heck of a deal. I'm fine with Lundqvist in that over Schneider, I still think we get the upper hand in the long run. The ones I do not want is Kappo or Krav. Yuck.
  21. I see huge potential in Laff, and if he can mimic JTs success, which he certainly has the potential too, we're essentially being rewarded Lundqvist and a 1st for our patience. I see value in that since we're no contender yet.
  22. I think at this point, if Rangers offer Laff, Lundqvist and a 1st, we do take the deal for JT Miller... this is if they are persistent on excluding Schneider from any trade talks. Obviously if Schneider is included, I dont see them including Laff. I'd rather take the chance on Laff and Lundqvist than Schneider, Krav and Chytil.
