Guess team got the memo from JR and co we're sellers at deadline? Whatever the case is, officiating is completely whack this game. What did we do to deserve a 4 vs 5 all game long? -

Well it is a 2 way street... if they can only garner serious interest for Garland, you can't fault them... I get you man, but it is what it is. -

I think with the current market value, and obviously being a seller's market, this probably isn't too farfetched. You've got an EV? Gas prices are insane. -

Miller for Lafreniere and Schneider, Garland for Turcotte and Grans please! Picks as well. -

Just theoretical, but even for the Miller trade nay sayers... are you ok if Miller was traded for a return value of, let's say Lafreniere and Schneider? -

No one is going to argue us losing Miller next year if he helps win the cup... but any other result than a Stanley Cup would seriously set us back tremendously if he walks for nothing. At that point, we won't even have the picks and the prospects to wonder if they'll pan out or not. -

So just for discussion sake, what if Miller doesn't re-sign with us? What if we're in a playoff position next year and we do not trade him, then he ends up walking to UFA? I get your concerns with prospects and picks not being a sure thing, we also are fully aware of the risk. However, there are equally, if not more, amount of risks associated with not trading Miller. Yes, it is all theoretical talks at this point, for both sides. We're just managing the risk level. -

I think the management is thinking the same as well, hence why we're seeing the Garland talks heat up. Probably wants to tweak our defense in exchange for a money contract like Garland, and engage the Miller camp heavily for an extension this coming summer. Once again, is Miller going to live up to his contract? Nobody knows. We've just had too many anchor contracts and I think the fanbase is allowed to have some serious doubt. Regardless, the ownership has always had their eyes set on doing whatever to make the playoffs year in year out, and I do believe the above is the likely scenario. I just hope we can escape these years of mediocrity. After all, we're all cheering for the same team, and we all want the same end goal. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

We're not arguing that. The reason we are pro moving Miller this trade deadline is because his value will be at the highest, and the risk on our end the lowest. Simply put: - He is producing at a ridiculous, unsustainable pace - Provides the other team with 2 potential playoff run with J.T. Miller at a great money contract - The other team also sees value in engaging Miller's camp as early this summer for an extension, and allows them to plan accordingly - Removes risk on our end with any potential injury that could devalue / sideline him before the next Trade Deadline - Removes risk on our end with any production decrease next season that may take away his value. Yes, his production could somehow be sustained, but that wouldn't necessarily up his value from here - If J.T. Miller wants out, or does not see eye to eye with the Canucks Management on his next contract during this summer, we run into taking on the risks mentioned above - If Canucks are in a playoff spot / fighting for a playoff spot next season, without an JT extension, now we are most likely going to the open market with J.T. Miller - If J.T. Miller signs an extension, it is highly likely it will be done in this off-season. That means we are caving into basically what Miller would want in the open market. This contract will be very expensive, loads of money for probably max terms. It isn't because we think picks and prospects are shiny and we believe those always turn to McDavid's. We understand there are much more risk involved the longer we hold onto Miller. We're the Vancouver Canucks, not the Vancouver Millers. We believe cashing in on Miller, while ridding ourselves of the associated risks, brings the best chance to the team for building out a true contender for years to come. -
[Rumour] Canucks getting calls on Conor Garland

I see this as a premise of trying to re-sign Miller. Re-signing Miller also means the Management wants to compete now, and by god we know our defense needs some work. No one is going to take our anchor contracts and give us any value back, so we're left with shopping anything with value to get something back, while clearing cap space. Garland or Boeser is probably the management's best bet, but with Boeser underperforming and his QO not aligning with his current value, I'm guessing not many teams are willing to provide a good return. I see Boeser or Garland taking up the exact same roster spot, so Management probably sees one of them expandable... and as of today, Garland probably brings more value due to his contract. -

Geezus... we get you really, really want Miller to stay, and no one is arguing against your opinion, but if you are going to be citing articles and building up your case, this is probably not the way to go. First off, you cited one sentence, that was at the very end of the article you referenced, an article that from start to end detailed Ryan Kesler demanding a trade out of the Canucks and clashing with the management for not fulfilling his request. Secondly, the "American born Kesler" who signed that 6 years contract was drafted and developed by the Vancouver Canucks. He spent 8 years with the organization ever since he came out of College hockey, and for a young men that age, especially affiliated professionally with an organization, it is safe to assume Vancouver was at least his 2nd home by then, if not his first. Even that Kesler demanded a trade out of the organization at a very similar age to J.T. Miller. Before you get your panties in a knot, I'm not suggesting J.T. Miller demanded a trade out, but simply letting you know this is a terrible comparable. Keep trying my guy, but you have to build a better case than this. -

I'd be ecstatic if we can poach Clarke for the price of Garland. However, I don't think LA would give us their top blue-chip prospect for Garland. They probably could do better elsewhere.
