  1. Lol of course not. Alfi was suggesting a theoretical LA return for Miller.
  2. Ssssshhh... don't keep saying that, keep it between us. Otherwise, JT's agent might figure this out and consider it into his contract negotiation!!
  3. Welcome to the logical.. sorry, I guess some would say, "dark" side!
  4. Me neither, but I was only referring to why Turcotte is associated to Garland rumors, and not Clarke. Not suggesting we want to trade with LA, or LA is interested in Miller, but as to why Clarke is not the name being thrown around... since it would take a piece like Miller to have Clarke associated with.
  5. That would be a great start yeah, I'd probably ask for slightly more.
  6. Clarke would enter the conversation when LA is interested in Miller. I don't see them moving Clarke for Garland.
  7. I think you just answered your own question with the bolded. There is probably a good reason why Turcotte is tied to Garland rumors, and not the latter.
  8. You mean they'll utilize that cap space to get someone else, squeeze into playoffs, Vasi and Kuch magically comes back at 100% and wins it all!
  9. Exactly the reason why some believe Miller will be looking at options in the FA market and not providing the Canucks with any sweetheart deal.
  10. Yep, and I sure hope we aren't trading any of our other cores until we know exactly where Miller is headed. If I see Boeser, Horvat, or Garland to a lesser extent being moved this trade deadline, I would get worried. That would show all the signs of making room to re-sign Miller without actually re-signing Miller, and it would mean management is willing to go all in at whatever cost. We would end up overpaying, or losing Miller and another core to set us back even more.
  11. Yep, if Miller signs with us, it will most likely be during this off season, and because the Canucks are offering what he would ideally want in an open market, both in $ and terms, based on his most recent success. Whether he lives up to the contract is anyone's guess. I don't have a Stargate so I don't know how he will do, although statistically it is bound to become a liability to the team. However, what we can assume with confidence is that the contract is going to be hefty. If he signs this summer, after a season like this, I would expect something close to 10M x 7 years.
  12. Yes, the brought down cost is 9 mill. 4 to 5 years you're looking at double digits, although I hardly doubt Miller would listen to anything below 7 years with the way he is building his value up right now. A player of his caliber will have the absolute upper hand in any negotiation. I get people want Miller to stay, and no one is arguing how valuable he is to this team, or to any team for that matter. However, that 8mill 5 years ain't happening, unless he absolutely bombs next year. If you were in Miller's shoe, with no root to the city, would you leave millions of dollars on the table, when this is your first and last chance to secure you and your family's financial future?
  13. I can see Miller with a huge smile. That man is getting P-A-I-D, and way more deservingly so than Hertl.
  14. Maybe Alf... I think you're onto something, which leads me to think you're sober, which worries me!
  15. Right?? All the excitement of potential change, a different direction, a new Canucks era with a management overhaul... and NOTHING has happened. Tis true... I put the sole blame on the Management and Ownership... stop this slow torture. Hah... the Laffs. Although I'll cut them slack for not equating an unforeseen global macro factor, even if they knew, it is the Laffs afterall... probably would have made the same move. Stupidity, and a mix of Karma!
  16. I also make low six figures, but never purchased a car. Never could commit to a depreciating asset. I've always leased out and invested the difference, and it has played out very well so far, at least for me. Been riding free while changing to a newer car every 4 years. Of course, you assume a risk this way, but if you're disciplined, it can work. I guess each to its own. By the way, I love this econ 101 thread... why are people talking about J.T. Miller?
  17. Owner has always wanted the playoffs gravy. We're unsure of management yet as they are yet to make any moves. Not all fans want to mortgage our future for now. Some of us understand we need to be patient to build a serious contender for years to come, and we will support our team regardless.
  18. At the cost of what? No one is giving us value, rather we have to pay to rid of those deadweight. We are already too thin in our futures cupboard and we certainly aren't at the caliber to go all in.
