I'm with you on valuing Lockwood more than is being said here after the deal which I do think is a good deal for the Canucks and hopefully Kravtsov plays up to his highest potential becoming a great top 6 forward with size. Lockwood type players are pretty valuable in their ways the kid has insane speed, tries to demolish everthing in sight and he's great on the forcheck and after getting a little more man strength that will only get better. For a team who struggles mightily on the penalty kill Lockwood could've been a great help here in the future he has all the traits you want to be great at it and believe he will be like Motte was with more scoring and physicality. As far as scoring goes Lockwoods numbers this season converted into playing a full season would be around 40 goals in Abbotsford that's definitely not something to overlook obviously he's really improving offensively that's very good numbers. Anyway again I'm in favor of taking a shot on Kravtsov just saying we gave up a little more than being recognized and the Rangers might just have themselves a great addition to help their team and it's actually even possible Lockwood outperforms Kravtsov and has a better career which basically nobody is saying.

Great pickup 100% worth the shot. I think from all I've read and watched he's going to get a real chance with great top 6 players and with fellow Russian friends no wonder why he's excited. I think we're going to see Kravtsov breakout now and he will show the signs that made him a top 10 pick with lots of potential. Miller was a prime example of somebody on a deep talented team that just needed a real chance to play more and with top players and although he's younger and not yet a Miller we're going to see a big leap in production showing he has the intelligence, skill and creativity to play and really fit in with more opportunities with better players. Now hopefully they can move Boeser+ for a top 4 RHD that just needs a chance and or change of scenery and trade one of the worst Canucks defensemen in history Myers away.

[Rumour] Nikita Tryamkin eyeing NHL return
Podkolzins Snipe replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Watching Tryamkin closely as a Canuck and his progress after I always believed Tryamkin had some great attributes to offer the Canucks and could've really helped the team in a lot of important ways. Watching one of the worst defenders in the game today in Myers struggle badly all these years making a huge impact on them losing so much I wish they would've kept Tryamkin and got rid of that massive overpaid, mistake prone, clueless liability Myers. Personally I'd love to see Tryamkin get another chance and I'm pretty much positive he'd be a great contributor to this team and prove his haters wrong. -
I'm higher on some guys than you are and see more potential considering what I've seen and their trajectory right now. Imo some of the guys you mentioned like McDonough and Klimovich should be in.your strong chance category possible top 6 players and for defensemen I see Jurmo, Pettersson, Rathbone and Johansson having a sold chance to be a 2,3 or 4 Dman all have lots of potential. To be honest these players I've mentioned who I've watched and followed I'd be disappointed if they weren't as good as I think they could be.

This trade could be a huge win for the organization. Look at the best circumstances that could happen. -The 1st is 13-15 where we could get a very good talented forward that slips that far. Or We get the Isles 2024 and they tank next season because Bo doesn't sign and other things go wrong. Or we trade this Isles 1st and ours to move up in the top 5 of the draft. With Raty maybe he develops more than imagined and he becomes a top line forward you never know it wouldn't be the first time he does have the potential. These are things ive seen from NHL guys who know his game: The kid has size, skill, shot, 2way game, a good playmaker, works the boards well, has good balance, good speed and drives to the net we'll. Then you have Beauvillier who's had almost 20 goals more than once that plays extremely hard with lots of speed, plays a good grinding game with a great forcheck and could really help the horrendous penalty kill and who knows maybe with Petey, Kuzmenko or Miller and a fresh start on a Canadian team this gives him the incentive to take his game to its highest level and he really gels with new coaching and teammates who get the best out of him. On the Horvat side maybe this season was a complete fluke where everything went his way and now he has a drop off to his previous seasons point totals. Also I'll be honest I've always not liked Bo on the PK it does highlight that he does really struggle defensively. Also unfortunately Bo can really struggle some shifts because it's always been really tough for Bo when he gets around 30 seconds into a shift when he has next to no speed or juice left at all and struggles immensely basically standing still not being able to do anything we'll because of it. Anyway I think they did well here and look forward to seeing if some of these very hopeful things I mentioned pan out and very interested to see if Rutherford and Alvin can turn Boeser, Garland into a very good RHD or picks and can get rid of Myers and Pearson without much damage. Looking at everything that we have in the organization, this deal for Bo and whats possible in the upcoming drafts and via trade I'm very optimistic about the future of the organization and think it's a way more hopeful than it seems.

I agree with your assessment but think it's great that we do have some of the players you mentioned actually also still have the ability to be top end forwards. Another prospect that exites me is McDonough who as a power forward the can really score and could easily end up being a poor man's Draisaitl as he shows similar skills to go with good size and confidence.

Definitely more like Ohlund than Edler because of the aggressive strong physical play and I absolutely love how after whistles he's 10 times more aggressive than Ohlund or Edler especially Edler who got away from scrums as fast as he could never getting involved, where as Pettersson lives to get involved and will never back down or leave a teammate fending for themselves! Also another big difference is Pettersson has much better speed and agility which is great and extremely important as we all know today's game speed is getting quicker by the year. Another difference would be offensive numbers but I feel like Pettersson has much more to give and will make great strides offensively and improve every year you can clearly see the tools and intelligence it takes to have decent numbers. Anyway I'll say it again think D Pettersson was an absolute steal and going to have an Ohlund like impact for his career and be a fan favorite for what he brings to the table and how fans will see how he helps the team be better.

Tanking doesn't guarantee anything good coming, the only way you should tank is if you have pretty much nothing in assets and this franchise has plenty. Who's to say we trade our good proven players teams would give decent return for and the picks we acquire turn out to be good players? These picks may never become good players and now you're rebuilding for 10 years and the team is even worse! Unfortunately the team has to trade the weakest players they have that are hurting the team and cap like Myers and Boeser, Pearson and just keep trying to draft players and hope the prospects we have turn out like Jurmo and Dman Pettersson especially, draft another defenseman with our 1st this coming draft and whatever other picks we have. This year its forwards that are all the top picks so might have to be creative and trade that forward or another young forward we have for a young more developed defender that ready now but there's absolutely no easy answers and tanking doesn't guarantee $hit. I'll say it again he team has a lot of talent and some good prospects the answer is to improve on these few weaknesses that are killing them and weaknesses that unfortunately are erasing all the great players efforts they do get and hope that Demko regains his true great fom which I'm sure he will. 100% this team isn't as bad as it seams its just a few bad apples and weak goaltending that absolutely kill them.

So I come here to see what everyone is saying after another disappointing loss and of course lots of doom and gloom, tank talk and fan overreacting acting like there's no talent and no prospects because they love to make things seem worse than they are just like all the moron media lol Truth is this team has tons of great players and prospects but they have horrible defense mostly Myers giving pucks away non stop and Martin a goalie that is absolutely horrible at rebound control, stands too small in the net leaving too much space and panicks every shot taking himself out of position leaving the net open forcing himself to make a miracle saves. Tonight the giveaways were as bad as I've ever seen them and no matter how good you are players just can't be giving pucks away like that or you'll lose almost every game and have to be as good offensively as this group is to get the wins they do. At the end of the day imo this team just needs Myers gone asap, Demko at the top of his game back or rightfully put Delia in who to me is clearly the better of the 2 and get a better defensive coach one who could finally get this group not being so bad defensively and that goes for the forwards as well. This group and the prospects are nowhere near as bad as the results they're just the best team in the league at making their own lives way more difficult than need be and need to stop constantly shooting themselves in the foot.

Well when you're playing as many games as he has and against the oppositions best forwards you're going100% going to get walked a couple times. Truth is even the best guys who are top picks on all the teams I've seen get walked as you say, make coverage mistakes or other errors that led to chances or goals against. I wouldn't be to concerned man. Young Petersson showed very very well and I'm excited to see him develop and guaranteed he is making our scouts happy and proud that they took the chance on him.

Recorded and watched all of Pettersson's shifts and along with Jurmo who really impressed me last WJC was very impressed with the raw talent. From what i observed D Petey really has the much needed mix of tools needed and should translate well in today's game and I see him as a very solid top 4 defender in the future who's offensive game could grow because he shows the signs it could develop well. Another great thing for his future is he will be eligible for the next WJ and I see him being a real go to guy for the coaches as he was the player they seemed to lean on more throughout the playoff game and with another year of hockey to develop before them I could see him being a real leader next time around. Anyway here are some of the great things that I was impressed with. -The speed and mobility is right where youd like it to be and was very impressed with some nice moves to avoid opposition and not scared to rush the puck to push play forward. -Solid good size using it well, crease clearer, never misses a chance to be physical and shows real aggressiveness. Has that Bieksa mentality where he wants to make opponents uncomfortable and show them there's a price to pay and it's not a free area for them and also defending teammates getting very involved having their backs at every chance something extremely important and kind of rare in today's game. -Solid positioning knowing the important places to be and anticipating opposition forwards well to break up plays and take the right man. -A good hard shot knowing when to shoot and when not to and ability to move well along the line and find lanes to shoot through or find open teammates with pretty good vision. It seems in time he could be a solid contributer offensively it's all there to do so and I really hopes this can be a focal point fir him and any coaches that work with him. In closing knowing how our defense is now and how little we have had over the years I'm very excited about Pettersson and Jurmo. At least I now have hope we'll have at least 2 very good top 4 guys to go with Hughes and hopefully a couple others can surprise and pan out nicely as well to get even stronger and possiblybe a strength and not a weakness one day.

If this team could just get Dermott back playing consistently and who I think is very underrated and is a guy that has great mobility, positioning and intelligence and anticipates/reads the game very well! When Dermott plays regularly if they could just somehow trade Myers who is very likely the worst top 4 Canuck defenseman of all time and they could get a real solid defender somewhere between a Hughes and Bear ability I have almost no doubt in my mind this team would be a good playoff team. Imo they would then be a team that could actually cause almost any good team serious problems in the playoffs especially if we get the old Demko back which I think they will. This team is nowhere near as bad as it seems or the idiot media make it out to be a couple changes to the defense and the strong Demko that we love would change everything imo.
-
I think anyone who watches this team closely should know that the bad goal differential is 90% on a defense that is their glaring weakness and mediocre goaltending behind it. Imo the only defenders we have that really help the team most night are obviously Hughes and Bear who I really like and think he does far more well than he doesn't and is very solid overall. As for OEL and Schenn I would say they both bring good things to the table and overall they help the team much more than they hurt it but I would like to see stronger more consistent play from them both basically less errors. As for Myers and Stillman they're to me obviosly the 2 worst players most nights they play and if they aren't it's actually a pleasant surprise that's how bad they are. Imo no top 1/3 team in the league would put up with either Myers or Stillman for very long and a team just can't afford to have 2 players making so many mistakes especially a team that has OEL and Schenn overmatched a bit too much for my liking. I was really hoping Dermott would play much sooner imo the guy is greatly underrated and would be a huge addition to the team with his overall very strong winning style game and the fact he would eliminate Stillman who is completely in over his head and should be only a desperation fill-in at best.
-
I really wanted Delia to start as well in the 2 games Delia has played he made more big saves, was in much better control and positioning and was 10 times better with rebound control and covering loose pucks. Imo the team would have a much better chance of winning with Delia in net especially with Myers and Stillmans horrible defense and with Schenn and OEL making a little too many errors in games as well. The last thing this team with a glaring weakness being their defense needs is the half a$$Ed goaltending they get from Martin.
-
Not sure why so reluctant to play Delia because Martin just isn't very good. Normally it's his bad rebounds but he just doesn't track the puck wel. Not all on Martin but seems like he's pretty easy to beat and that sad save % and goals against say just that. Of course like a lot of games Myers does something stupid to have us in a deficit and not good against a smothering defensive team like the Jets
-
That is complete fake news and imo something pretty ignorant to say about one of our prospects especially without any real proof. My guess is this is something you heard when drafted which i heard as well but have seen absolutely no proof of and it's a false report by some meathead. Anyone who has watched Jurmo definitely wouldn't call him a "dough head" unless he had some reason why he disliked him that's ridiculous. I watched every shift of his in the World Juniors and his decision making was pretty much always spot on and not only is his hockey sense not a negative I really believe it's a positive. Watching him comparing him to the top young defenders in the tournament he made no more mistakes than any of them made. I think most fans get pretty silly thinking any top young defender playing a key role in a high stakes tournament under constant pressure and competing against all the best young players in the world shift after shift isn't going to make a couple small mistakes here and there it's ridiculous to be honest lol Hell watch the best on the NHL and you'll see some questionable plays here and there it's impossible not to. As a matter of fact watching all his shifts I think Jurmo really showed that he has real intelligence, thinks the game very well and was very good at anticipating plays in advance, skates very well, could be a physical force shutdown player and has some real potential offensively. From what i seen Jurmo has top 2 potential and I think at worse he's a solid 3-4 guy.

Watched every shift of Jurmo's in the last WJ and I'm sold that this kid will 100% be a very solid top 4 defender for the Canucks. Kid has all the tools and will be a real steal by the time he develops fully and shows everyone what he's got. This kid looks a lot like Hedman when he plays and love his aggressiveness and think he's the exact type of defender we've needed for years. Very excited to see him when he's ready and can't wait to see his gifts as a Canuck and finally have a beast on defense who really makes things happen and frustrates all our opponents forwards making their lives difficult.
