  1. The best thing that could happen is Myers has a few good games without his usual brain cramps and finally gets some goals with all his chances he consistently wastes and fools some desperate team like Toronto to take his clumsy @$$. If that happens and Boeser ups his trade value like he is lately with his linemates carrying him padding his stats for him and hopefully we trade him and even add something else if need be for a good young solid top 4 RH defender. Having a solid addition on the right side to go with Bear and Schenn to go with Hughes, OEL and Dermott. I think we'd be in great shape and we'd see a way more solid team overall and way less blown leads. The biggest weakness on this team by far is Myers and the defense but luckily Bear was a great addition who's really helping and then they add a solid guy at least a bit better than Bear, get Dermott back who was very solid and dependable last season and thre would be a huge difference in potential and results no doubt in my mind.
  2. When I first heard this trade I thought damn I had some faith and excitement for Myerenberg who has good tools, shown real potential at a bright future and who looks like he might be on Swedens WJ team and then I thought hmm makes sense if we traded for a young defender who's more ready. Well unfortunately both of those things are negatives to me but I won't make any opinion until I see Studnicka enough and see how Myerenberg progresses and can't see how many are losing their minds without knowing how these guys turn out. We did really need a hard to play against pk forward with size and speed and this Studnicka kid is young and has to have somewhat decent potential seeing he was on Canada's WJ team not long ago so I say let's just see how he looks before making any harsh judgements.
  3. This team is nowhere near as bad as the results have been there's just been too many things going against them. Couple things that have bothered me is why Bruce B is sitting fast useful players like Garland and Hoglander when we have too many guys who lack speed and instead like Green they let Pearson play like complete garbage taking way too many penalties and then there's Boeser who has been absolutely useless skating around like a beer league player looking like he shouldnt even be in the league. Next game I'd be sitting Pearson and after that Boeser 2 players that aren't bringing enough and worse hurting the team with their pathetic play. Anyway I'm not doom and gloom on this team I believe they'll turn this rough start around there's more than enough talent to do that and grab a playoff spot and i still believe in this group. Definitely not going to be another whiny over the top dramatic clown fan like most right now exaggerating how bad this team is crying wherever they get their chance. I partly blame and hate the media and their constant over the top dramatics which doesn't surprise me they're all huge soccer fans and hate how they get the embarrassing fans we unfortunately have acting like the world is coming to an end. Far as I'm concerned if you're going to go overboard dumping on the whole team do a huge favor and go cheer for another team and don't come back.
  4. Great to see the Canucks honoring one of the toughest pound for pound Canucks of all time and my favorite player all those years! Bieksa was at his best with Hamhuis on the Stanley Cup run and they don't go to the finals without him. The Bieksa and Hamhuis pair was pivotal and our best duo imo they were doing everything to a T and driving the team forward. My Bieksa signed jersey hangs in my man cave and to this day I still wear it proudly going to games in Calgary and Edmonton and other cities and always will. For those Canucks fans that know and respect the importance of Bieksa who was pretty much a bodygoard of the soft star players that really helped them to freely play their game and accomplish all the great things they accomplished. Here's to Bieksa who legend D Cherry called a real beauty and throwback player I absolutely respected and loved and hopefully someday we can aquire a player or 2 that played the game the same great way Bieksa did.
  5. Completely agree with your hard but truthful evaluation of Bo and the last season or 2 I've realized that one of the big reasons for their struggles was due to Bo's soft and inconsistent play. Unfortunately imo Bo, Pearson, Boeser and Myers share the same bad traits that all 3 can be absolutely brutal when not playing up to their potential and all 3 hurt the team much more than seen and admitted by most fans. Impossible to be a consistent team when relying on Bo, Boeser, Pearson, Myers all players that don't do enough good on a consistent basis and unfortunately hurt the team far too much with their weaknesses and inconsistent play. I'm actually at the point now where i see brave deals getting our team over the hump considering the great depth we have. What makes me confident its the right move is I see several players we have as stars or growing into stars and also knowing very likely at least 3 of McDonough, Lekkerimaki, Klimovich, Forsell, Karlsson will be top 9 forwards and we'll have more than enough to have a strong top 9 forward group so trading 1 -2 players like Bo or Brock wouldn't weaken thatlike we think. I honestly think the best future move would be they trade Horvat and Boeser and get high picks or a stud RHD and all we can get and save that cap money for Kuzmenko and other players who will be great future players for us that play great consistent hockey that bring more to the table overall, take us over the top becoming a top Stanley Cup contender. I think the top GM's and front office have the balls to make big shakeups for the betterment of the franchise and if you don't have the guts you'll likely never go all the way. We'll likely soon here how management is at making the extremely tough decisions and I'm hoping they make the right ones at this critical time over the next few seasons.
  6. There's no doubt Horvat brings it when he's on that's why I mentioned he can play like a top line forward but the team just can't have players not producing for big stretches although now I feel with the great depth and with young players like Petey, Hoglander, Podkolzin... getting better the pressure will be less and if Horvat is going to have wingers like Podkolzin and Garland he should end up having a great season with such great offensive drivers on his wings. Look Horvat is a great human being, a talented player and he's always given a great effort (sometimes I'd like to see him more gritty) and will get his fair share of goals but I think ge could greatly improve his defensive game especially the PK that he's always been horrible at which is very telling. Besides the PK he needs to improve his mobility and his consistency night to night. I see Horvat and Pearson trying to do the little things but in all honesty I don't see them doing those things that well a lot of nights and they do lack speed especially when playing fast teams and I guarantee that Rutherford and Co see the same things I'm seeing on both sides and that's why they're not rushing to sign him for what him and his agent think he's worth. As much as it offends a lot of Canucks fans apparently you as well when fans and media point out Horvats weaknesses, these weaknesses are 100% there especially when the team is struggling and they're definitely something if Bo improves them and cleans them up, Bo, the team and his agent will be much better off.
  7. Truth is that Horvat is underrated by some but also true he's definitely overrated by some as well, while I believe the truth is right in between those 2 opinions. The funny but frustrating thing about Bo is that on some nights Bo was absolutely invisible, looking very slow like he can't keep up doing absolutely nothing to help the team and played like 4th line forward at best, while on many others Bo looked like he's a 1st line forward doing everything at the highest level. A real frustration the last few seasons I saw the same ratio with other players like Boeser, Pearson, Myers having such a drastic drop off from their good games to the bad games and a which made a very inconsistent team overall and this us 100% something extremely important that this team needs more consistency from such important players. Anyway at the end of the day if we see the same inconsistent play from Bo until the trade deadline I'd like to see him traded for a RHD and use that money towards Kuzmenko and the other important things coming.
  8. Nobody knows who won the trade until these players show what they can do for several years and even the rest of their careers it's all guessing. After this trade I seeked out the opinions of Florida fans who are the people that actually know these players inside out and a lot of their fans were very unhappy with Weeger and Huberdeau especially in the playoffs saying that these players did not rise to the level they hoped and both didn't do much to help the team and even hurt their teams not producing enough and making critical mistakes especially Weeger. Something else negative I doubt fans know here who are saying that it's such a steal for the Flames is that both these players were in the top 7 in turnovers last season which is definitely a team hurting stat and something that ended the high scoring Panthers playoff hope the last few seasons. I'm going to wait and see how these players perform both offensively and defensively and how these contracts play out when these players are on the tail end of their Flames careers.
  9. I'm with you on what you said and if it came to Miller vs Bo I would keep Miller anyday he's the alpha male mantality the young players need. You rarely ever see a game Miller doesn't make positive plays for the team and I'd absolutely hate to see them without him so obviously I was ecstatic they signed him long term. When it comes to Bo he tries to be good every night it's not from a lack of trying but on far too many nights frustratingly he was as non factor as it gets and his play was so bad it really screwed them. Fact is you just can't have too many players that have so many nights of that eat up a lot of minutes because when that happens the whole team especially when lacking depth struggles with them. Thankfully the teams forward depth is imo at an all time high and theres several players coming over the next few years that will also help with depth. I think the fact that Bo is a very poor penalty killer and always has tells you what you need to know about his overall game and that's that his first few strides are just too slow and he doesn't have the quickness needed unless he's able to gather speed and use it that way. Other teams are just so fast that if guys like Bo, Brock, Pearson get the puck and dont move it they're checked immediately and plays go nowhere. If you watch these players they're maybe somewhat fast for the first 30 seconds of their shifts and after that it goes horribly south and they end up getting dominated if out too long and this was a big problem and big time strain on the defense and Demko. Anyways on a positive note I really feel confident in this new improved group and am as excited as Miller was after his deal on the teams future. I see the Canucks really shocking the league and fighting it out with my most hated rival the Calgary Shames for 1st in the division and ahead of the Coilers and others.
  10. Well there's still no Bo signing and I'm starting to think that management might have considered trading Bo might be the best option instead of Miller long ago if he wasn't willing to sign for a very team friendly contract. If you think about this play by management the best way to trade such a fixture Canuck like Horvat would be what's happening now with the contract stall, they make the deal for a young RHD and young centreman and the reasoning would be they tried all they could but just couldnt make it work. I have to say as much as I like and respect Horvat one of the reasons the team has struggled and been mediocre and inconsistent has been because Horvat, Boeser, Myers, Pearson players the team really depends on have had way too many nights that they had these exact traits of mediocre and inconsistent and on far too many nights completely invisable adding absolutely nothing to the team and unfortunately hurting the team by being too slow, losing races and battles and not creating anything and hurting their linemates play as well. On many of these nights hemmed in their zone putting great pressure on the defense and Demko. Having said all this I'm ok if they were to trade Bo and get some great young assets and save some money that will be needed and I'm also just as happy if they kept Bo and we see him grow into a better player overall that's more consistent which the team really needs. On a positive note I've also seen these players including Bo play like they're top elite players when they're on their "A Game" so moving forward hopefully for the teams sakes and all of ours these difference maker players being their games to their highest level possible and this is definitely possible thankfully and with our stronger depth at forward and imo underrated defense hoping their teammates can help elevate their games as well. Going to be interesting to see if this trade option is starting to become more of a reality now or possibly at the deadline.
  11. Great signing and deal and I think this is great value for the Canucks because I'm expecting at least 10 more points possibly more with the improved play and growth of young linemates. The other thing that makes this deal great is the rare playing style of Miller with his big size, extreme compete level, very high skill and leadership combination who is also a protector of his linemates keeping other teams honest with taking liberties on young teammates which is something that's also very important. There's a lot of players making his money or more but I'd take Miller over them anyday he'sbeen a favorite of mine a player that despises losing which I love. We have all seen a lot of high priced star players that get a lot of points in the regular season but in the hardest games quite often they're a non factor or don't do as much as usual to help their team win but in Miller is see a big time clutch performer, the kind that helps lead his team to playoff series victories and Cups. Today was a great day and a big step towards being one of the best teams in the league and future Stanley Cups.
  12. Completely agree and like Huberdeau there's no way those last few seasons end up well when they're that old. I think fans are in for a big surprise on thinking that they're better than last season. There's an adjustment period for new players and Gaudreau and Tkachuk brought an awful lot to the team in lots of facets that will be really missed. Also what made me happy because I hate the Flames is that Weeger and Huberdeau were both top 7 in the whole NHL in turnovers and a lot of Florida fans really soured on Weeger and Huberdeau and a lot of that was because of a bad post seasons they had making mistakes that cost the team goals against and not doing much to help the team win offensively. The other big thing is management didn't think that overall Huberdeau and Weeger were going to be worth the term and money they'd want and were actually trying to trade Weeger. I laugh at how so many people think the Flames did so great and will be so much better including some here lol To me this has the potential to be a massive overpayment and huge bust they could regret especially if they give Weeger huge term and money like the others.
  13. I really agree with your statement that the Canucks defense was not as bad as fans and media made it out to be. I think for anyone that has watched the games very closely and has a great understanding of the game could see that a major amount of the problem wasnt actually the defense it was frequently on the forwards. Obviously on the defensive side overall it didn't help that Baumgartner who was an absolutely horrible mistake prone liability when he played was in charge lol. My opinion is that a lot of the problems were really how bad/weak that the forwards on the team were at keeping possession all over the ice especially in the opponents zone which obviously makes it much easier on the defense when you're on offense more, I think the forwards turned pucks over way too often, were definitely not good at playing sound defensive hockey, the forwards were very bad at killing penalties, lost way too many puck battles, bad at getting pucks out of the zone and being way too easy to play against all over the ice and just allowing too many odd man rushes to name a few things. You watch the best teams all 5 players play together and their forwards don't struggle at all with the things that I mentioned or if the do it's rarely. On a positive note I think in time because most of this group is young I expect these important details will get much better especially with the better coaching they'll now receive and at times last season fortunately you can already see them learning these details and part of this will be just getting physically stronger with age.
  14. From what I remember it was injuries and call ups had them short at forward and they had a surplus of defensemen so with Woo's style of game the coaches just thought he would be the best at forward over the others and maybe they also thought their best defense had the other guys there over him. Anyway like I said watching Woo I was actually quite happy with his progress and overall game and his strong compete level and if I had to guess I'd say he's going to have a strong showing at camp and preseason and show everyone he can actually play and play well. I guess we'll see soon camp and preseason is just around the corner sneaking up fast.
  15. I watched a lot of Abbotsfords games and to be honest I didn't agree with putting him at forward at all and think that media and fans are really selling him short and wrong on being negative about him. Watching him last season I saw the same things that always had me optimistic about him thinking he could be a good Canuck one day and that was a very good all around game and some great offensive potential as well as a good physical game with some bite. I really think Woo is going to shut the haters up moving forward and show everyone up for being foolish and being way too critical on him and not having a clue.
  16. Funny you mention Tanev that's exactly who I told my brother he resembles lol. I will give Truscott a little more credit offensively though because even though he's not getting points he has shot a lot of pucks at the net and did hit a crossbar so think there is some offensive potential there and seems to me he could get better in that regard.
  17. I've been watching the Finland games and Jurmo very closely and have to say I'm very excited to see all the tools he possesses, especially that crazy speed for such a big guy it's very rare for a guy that size! I think he also deserves credit for having the balls to rush the puck the way he does on the world stage it's definitely something you love to see. Another thing I really like is how he walks the line, the movements and stick handling and confidence he shows are great for such a large kid. On top of that Jurmo's slap shot has a lot of promise especially if Salo was to work with him more because he definitely has the velocity on his top shot he showed that last game with a bomb that caused the goalie trouble. Offensively he's jumped into the corner and around the opposition net, pinched nicely and has made nice passes and seems to have the vision needed to spot out teammates and give them the right passes needed. Back to defense he uses his stick very well using his reach poking pucks off sticks very well, you can bet that Hedman is someone he watches a lot because in a lot of ways he looks like a young Hedman even making a huge sliding pass block with only a couple minutes remaining in a tie game which must've also really impressed his coaches. Anyway hopefully for some of you that haven't seen games this helps you understand we might have got ourselves a gem/steal here in Jurmo. The kid has tons of potential and don't take too much out of the guys saying he's maybe not the smartest because the player I'm watching is definitely playing smart enough to show this is not a weakness of his at all because besides all these positives I've mentioned I've also seen great coverage and him anticipating plays in the important areas even covering for his partner nicely as well. Mark me down for being extremely excited to watch more of him getting a great chance in this tournament and seeing how he develops over the next few years with Salo and others fine tuning him! I sure hope he keeps progressing because a huge defenseman with that speed and ability will go a long way in making the Canucks a very tough team to beat and if he keeps building on this I see a guy very possibly dominating and making life hell for all the NHL star forwards they'll face. This shutdown ability is obviously extremely important moving forward.
  18. Well we have a crazy abundance of great skilled Swedish and Russian talent in the organization and I love it. We could seriously have a team with 75% Swedes and Russians in the future. Anyway great to see us add something great here and I feel this team is going to have a great season with this addition plus great team win helping players in Kuzmenko, Rathbone and a PK boost in Lazar.
  19. Was a big mistake by the Canucks to not sign Kane and give a guy with that rare size and talent mix a chance especially considering he'd be such a great replacement for Miller and add extra toughness. Almost a sure thing the Canucks make the playoffs last season with Kane as well and importantly helps the team with a problem of being a little too soft protecting some of our young skilled players. When you get a chance to get a player like that that would love to play in his hometown giving up no assets you do it and what makes it twice as tough is the Oilers are a far better team with him. I need to see something better from Rutherford and Alvinn and less of excuses and whining about the cap. Seems like 75% of the teams are stressing about the cap and I see lots of potential to improve with a great crop of core players and a very underrated group of prospects which they're also making sure they complain about at every chance. Enough with the whining time to step up here and make sure by the time next season starts this is a much better team.
  20. My preference would be they choose to keep Miller and trade Horvat. I like Horvat and a lot about him but also see a lot of weakness in his overall game and the biggest is inconsistency where he goes through long stretches of doing absolutely nothing to help the team when needed spending a lot of shifts stuck in his own zone so tired he can barely stand up and a shooting gallery on Demko. Anyway on Miller possibly going to the Devils because it's likely that he's the guy traded what I'd like for a deal is we trade Miller and our 15th for their 2nd and take the best defenseman available and Jesper Bratt and then get Marchmant. Imo this trade and these moves would be absolutely amazing for the future of our team!
  21. Not sure wtf you're talking about, what I said is directly related to Bo being soft as butter in comparison to Miller. Actually another thing is Bo is a total people pleaser. Bo would never go after teammates to do more and up their play and compete level which imo is also something a captain needs to do at times something Miller would have no problem doing. Look I like a lot about Bo I don't think any Canucks fan out there dislikes Bo I just feel like Miller is much better at quite a few import things and Miller doesn't have streaks of games where he's completely invisable and a total non factor creating absolutely nothing and standing around like he's skating in quicksand hemmed in his zone non stop like unfortunately happenes to Bo a lot. Honestly I started criticizing Bo here because I think fans are delusional on Bo and over credit him overall and the fact that the Canucks have a much bigger chance of being a better team with Miller than.with Horvat.
  22. If you guys consider Bo a hard nose leader that can't stand losing and will do anything to win like Miller is, you guys are kidding yourselves and just must really Love Bo so much you can't see the truth. Just because you have your head down and work hard doesn't mean you're not soft lol If Bo stays, Bo really needs to find another level of desire, speed and consistency and get better defensively. Truth is the team is too much like him and not enough like Miller to get better.
  23. Hey sure at times yes his actions can be over the top but you need players that despise losing and expect the highest level out of themselves and teammates so to me his attitude is not a problem it's actually great and something the team needs more of. Let's face it Bo is soft as butter and needs to be more like Miller imo and the team takes on Bo's soft attitude far too often it can be contagious. I also think Bo is too inconsistent and slow and they'd be better served to trade him and get the best return possible because someone has to go and I feel like Miller and Garland have too many great attributes vs weaknesses and should be kept if this team really wants to get better. To me this move is the best one by far.
  24. I used to pretty much hate Myers for the first few years the guy was a complete liability and his poor play cost the team a lot of losses but over the last year he has been much better so credit to him for that although I'm sure he was told flat out to play better or you'll be traded or in the press box. What worries me about trading Myers now is it would be just our Canucks bad luck if we trade the guy and then he starts converting on a lot of his chances and ends up being a top defensive scorer and then lives up to his salary lol. Anyway at this point I'd trade him and hope to get more out of someone via trade for less money but if we dumped salary somewhere else and kept him I'd be ok with that and hope he continues to improve his game and cashing in on more of his opportunities and continues to play more physical.
  25. As much as I respect Bo I'd much rather trade Bo and wisely use the money on Miller and name him captain. Bo is a great guy and a solid player but the team could use a shake up and stronger leadership and that's Miller to a T.
