  1. I love the old school guys, I love guys with no visors just like I grew up watching, I love the toughness and how badass it looked seeing dudes skate around looking like warriors back in the day. I'm talking early-mid 2000's I love what Pat Maroon does Kassian has awesome old school style
  2. Okay, he was average. Our GM who specialized in drafting was average at drafting. Mixed with bad FA signings and bad trades, it was a dreadful 8 years. The worst 8 year stretch in franchise history. The guy should never be a GM again
  3. I'm not sure how picking two random years from 20-30 years ago seems a fair way to judge GMJB's success at the draft table. Zero players in the system drafted outside of the first two rounds. One of the shallowest prospect pools in the league Completely botched a 5th and 6th overall selections which is hard to do nowadays. Look at the 2014 draft, hardly any misses in the first round and we were one of them. 2016 same thing, the only teams to miss on their early first round picks that year were Van, Bufflalo and Ottawa, 3 of the worst teams of the last 8 years, go figure. 4/6 success rate in the first round. 66%. That's counting Podkolzin. Both those misses were top 10 picks, that's hard to do. Not counting Hoglander as a success because of his dreadful season and not counting Klimovich because it's too early. We're 1/5 with our 2nd round selections. 20% Lol honestly it's mindboggling anyone can say his drafting has been good. It's been average at absolute best. Mix that with bad trading and horrible FA signings it was a torturous 8 years.
  4. A GM hitting on their first and second round picks is standard, it's what you should expect of them. There is nobody outside of the top 40 in the draft on this team after 8 years... We hired a GM who's specialty was supposedly drafting and all we did was watch him trade picks away and spend money in free agency for 8 years. Where is the logic there?
  5. I mentioned twice that we pay him 7.26 he get's paid 8.25 though because he's supposed to bring offense. He's about 20 points behind what would be reasonable value, he's 31 in a few months and has been trending down offensively. He needs to provide more for us next year Calgary scores more goals but OEL get's 10x the powerplay minutes Tanev does
  6. I may have been borderline black out drunk, but I remember their bony little faces. Skinny or not it didn't matter, they couldn't be touched
  7. The first ever Canuck game I went to was a 7-1 win over Arizona. It was Tom Sestito's last game as a Canuck, he fought Chipchura that night and my other biggest takeaways were how hard Edler could shoot the puck from the blueline, how tough and mean Bieksa was in front of the net and how Skinny/small the Sedins were
  8. No, let's keep him and keep missing the playoffs....
  9. Points are everything when you make 8.25 a year. that's why you get paid that to begin with. Guys like Tanev get paid 4.5 a year to play against the other teams top lines, Tanev also ironically has the same amount of points as OEL with far less PP time. If you pay a guy 7.25 and he doesn't break 30 points you're not getting close to the value of his contract. He has been good this year but not 7.26 good. Between him and Myers making 13.26 and combining for just 40 points, I'll say right now that is the worst defensive duo value, dollar for dollar point for point. It's crippling, there's no other way around it. Again, 13.26 million dollars for 40 points, on pace for a combined 50 to be fair. Not good enough
  10. Yes, you can trade picks/prospects when you have a surplus of them. They traded every tradeable piece after they sent out a letter to the fans And yes, you can sign high priced UFA's when you have a surplus of cap space. I agree NYR is lucky with UFA's...and apparently the draft lottery We're without our 2nd rounder already this year as well. This type of draft history is what a cup contending teams draft history should look like. There was no care for the future at all during Benning's entire tenure, it was just a rat race to try and squeak into the playoffs just to say we did.
  11. He's played more PP minutes this year than he did last, on a team not named Arizona and he has less points. It's his worst statistical year since his rookie season, making 7.26 for 5 more years, he turns 31 in July.
