[Proposal] Van - NYR Trade
King Loui replied to Canuckman2234's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
So basically four 1st round picks for a signed Miller. That's crazy -
Yes but also taking into account he is soon to be 31 and still has 5 years left. You can find guys that are rock solid defensively and put up 30 points for less than 5 million, you earn big contracts like OEL if you put up points in the NHL, that is the main metric used. Scoring more goals and spending less time in the defending end can also help your goaltender OEL is barely outscoring or isn't outscoring guys like Tanev, Parayko, Lindholm, Larsson, Pesce, Pelech, Ekholm who are all younger and better defensively and all make way less. Travis Sanhiem, Michael Matheson, Alex Goligoski, Vladislav Gavrikov, Nate Schmidt, Ryan Suter and even Cody Ceci all outscored him. That's a bad look.

Stop trying to needle me, dude, nobody cares. Nice virtue signaling, very 2022 of you. Unpleased with what I've seen so far, yes. Having a final decision on if I like the new Management team deffinnitely not. I was told to stop badmouthing Benning early on in his tenure as well, only to be forced to sit down and endure an additional 5 or so years of pain and suffering.

He did everything he could of, it was up to the players at that point. Due to some injuries and bad reffing, we lost.

I want to see some aggressive moves from this new management team, I want transparency and I don't care if feelings get hurt. I'm already on the fence with them since JR came out and said "he didn't wanna hire just another old white guy"(Umm earth to you JR...you are an old white guy) then hired a woman who helped put together a garbage Seattle team, hired another rookie GM, did nothing at the TDL and aren't even sure they wanna bring back a legendary coach like Bruce Boudreau.

Okay, getting your team to game 7 of the SCF is the definition of perfect. That is the goal but sure, I digress. I'm tired of hearing the "we have a very promising young core" narrative. Lots of teams have promising young cores After Benning's 3rd year he still managed to spend buckets on Roussel, Beagle, Schaller, Gudbranson, Virtanen, Ferland and Holtby +++ Instead of retaining Tanev or Toffoli he resigned Jake Virtanen and signed a 4.4 million backup goalie... He made a desperate attempt to save face by bringing in another albatross contract with OEL. We have one of the shallowest prospect pools in the league so I really am tired about hearing the young core narrative seeing as how we have nothing to supplement it with as of right now the Miller deal looks great...but again it was a rushed move, the guy just put up 100 points and we still didn't even sniff the playoffs, now we're on the fence about trading him in which we will likely attain young assets who we will then need to wait around for another few years before they make an impact. Benning screwed us

All 32 NHL teams should play playoffs
King Loui replied to Slegr's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Man the expectations have really gotten low around here. We've sucked so bad we want the NHL to just pleaassse let us in to the playoffs. Thanks Jim -
It wasn't because of injuries either, Juolevi just wasn't a top tier prospect. His London stats were good but considering the teams he was on and the amount of goals those teams scored his stats should of been better. Top tier defenceman who go in the first round playing on teams like that easily put up over a point per game, Juolevi wasn't even close. His draft +1 there was little to no improvements, his stats were the exact same despite being a year older. They were there scouting the London Knights, how could you pick Juolevi over the power-forward who broke into the NHL in his draft +1? Absolutely brutal scouting.

Well that's not saying much seeing as how Woo is a 4th line RW'er now...

Do we know of any prospects that will possibly be joining the Jr Canucks next season?

Hmm did you defend Benning during his time and now just look for ways to excuse his incompetence? Gillis left Horvat, Markstrom, Tanev, Hamhuis and some other minor pieces. He got us 1 win away from the SC and won multiple league titles. How could his asset management be poor if he was doing those things? How can you disrespect the most successful GM in our history like that
