[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
NucknAsia replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Ya not disagreeing that 99 pts will be hard to match, but I also feel like Miller wasn't a flash in the pan great season. We saw him find another level in his game and his ability to be a game changer. I just don't see him as the type of player who's one and done....from watching him last year that wasn't just a hot season, that was a player (imho) who has learned how to dominate at the NHL level now. Do I think he's going to do that for 7 years on an extension, no...where I would be concerned is the back end, years 5,6,7 where his style of physical play could catch up to him...and then we see a drop off to like 40 pts...and that will hurt. -

Why do you say he doesn't get back to 99 pts? I am not saying he will but also not discounting his ability to meet that again, or close -

Then maybe he takes a discount to stay! -
[Signing] Bruins re-sign Patrice Bergeron
NucknAsia replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
They still really need a 2c...I think this may actually make him more valuable. If Bergeron decided to hang them up they may have been forced to blow it up. Now they will make a few more runs, like Pittsburgh....They could really want/need him now to put them in the hunt for 2-3 more runs with Bergeron. In addition, it gives them their 1c to take over when he hangs them up. Bergeron Miller coming over the boards is one hell of alot of strength down the middle. -

Benning and Negotiation....lol.. Player's Agent: "Hey Jim we want 6 mil over 7 years" Jim: " Hmm, damn that's not what I was thinking, how about longer term...how's $9 mil for 8 years!" Player's Agent: "Jeez, not sure Jim, push it to $9.5 and we have a deal" Jim: "Done! great work!" -

Poile explaining the challenges of every GM in a couple of paragraphs - JR / Alvin will likely cut and paste this for comments on Miller LOL -

This is where a dual Forsberg is a heck of a talented, consistent player Alf, would love to have him here. Move Boeser and sign Forsberg and we are better off as he's a better player and a great skater with size. No brainer to sign him but there will be literally every team with cap space after him. -
Really feel like if we can't move up into the top ten it may make sense to move down and gather more picks. I'm thinking trade with AZ Hoglander, Rathbone, #15, and our 3rd for #27, #34, #36 Then load up on RD Sam Rinzel Noah Warren Artem Barabosha

As per Frank Seravalli https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1539979060704677889?s=20&t=14PIA9_i3e-g6Qb1GLKiLA Verbal agreement in place. May not be announced immediately. Seems they will be having to move others that many here have their eyes on!

We are no where near....and not even watching other teams. Anyone who's old enough to have watched 2011 close enough, could see the pace, fire and cohesiveness as a unit we played with. Our team is nothing close to even that team. That's how I always guage it. I remember how that team was never out of a game, they were always able to come back on teams, they were able to 'step on the throat' of teams when up because they competed so hard.... I see so much inconsistency with this group and that's both an effort and a roster composition issue.

Its also just about the push...the Sedin's and Bo set the "proper" example, so not trying to say they are bad leaders. The difference though between them and a player like McKinnon is he is so extreme and shows his hunger in practice, working out, games, his teammates HAVE to push hard too else they look bad. Basically its peer pressure. Our team doesn't have that level of pressure, and perhaps that's what Kypreos meant by country club. Kesler and Bieksa used to get into it at practice they competed so hard, the rest of the team see's that and says gosh, I better work as hard, and that then translates into games...our guys seem to be 'happy enough' just running the drills ...then going home for their nap... Guys like Mackinnon are freakishly competitive...its why I don't want Miller gone....we lack that.
-
This is also what happens when your leader / captain pushes the rest of the team....MacKinnon is such an offseason and in practice competitor he forces the rest of the team to push...the guy trains with Sid and Marchand in the offseason, and what's their common thread? Compete compete compete... There's clearly an internal expectation to be extreme and be the very best.....This may be what Kypreos meant about "country club" in Van...yes our guys work hard, yes they compete, but there's a major level difference watching the av's....they have a fire we do not have.

[Signing] Canucks sign Andrei Kuzmenko
NucknAsia replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Dude, you don't get a Hedman without #1 overall pick....Quinn is a terrific defenseman and showed this year he can play D. He will never be able to out muscle guys but his skating and stick allow him to take pucks off guys and he's generally got the puck when he's on the ice (according to his fancy stats)... To say he's not a Hedman is a bit silly given his size. We know what we have with him and clearly size will always have an impact. It doesn't mean his not a number one. He's just not a PERFECT dman like Hedman who's got EVERYTHING, because of his size. -
See this is Dhaliwal stirring up bs. I listened to the replay and Lazar basically said he'd like to go back to Boston but it comes down to if they want him back. If not he's a BC boy and was a Canucks fan his whole life so of course it would be great. But that is VERY different that what Rick is tweeting. Given he's a slow player who doesn't put up points, I think he'd be happy to sign anywhere.. Rick is just creating news...not a fan of his.

It may be that Colorado has the advantage at home from playing a higher altitude. Game 2 there was a significant drop off for Tampa, they looked like they all had heavy legs. In the regular season you don't see this because you don't see teams playing multiple games there. Maybe, Tampa is on even footing at home....Was something a friend raised and probably has some impact.
