This dude is creating too much hype for a player who is going to be a middle 6 player at best. -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Andrei Kuzmenko

Someone needs to have an intervention with him and tell him, Smitty, you're 40 and you can't play now... -
Pretty interesting to look back at the McKinnon draft Not sure if people remember or are aware, McKinnon and Druin played on the same team. McKinnon went first overall, Drouin 3rd (and there was debate at the time). Interesting point is, Drouin had 105 pts in 49 games McKinnon had 75 pts in 44 games.... Reason I raised this is we as fans often think points are the be all and end all....Colorado def made the right choice https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0010242013.html

Data is always useful and helpful, but as you suggest its about the quality of the data, its interpretation, and the question that is seldom asked, its applicability and thus usefuleness. We get alot of basic information on free websites, I am certain this is very simple information that teams probably don't even use (corsi for / against etc). Some information, ie how many high quality chances within 'home plate' could be extremely beneficial for teams to better understand how effective their team defense is. Specifics on % of shots that go in on goalies from certain distances and where he's strong or weak etc. But where I think where analytics gets a bit hokey is where you're trying to assess individual players on the ice with 4 others at the same time, and 5 others on the other side. If you look at the free data out there, its a gross oversimplification of a very complex game with multiple interactions with multiple players on any given shift. The attempt to take what is effectively a one on one sport (baseball) ie pitcher vs batter and emulate that in a team sport has become nothing other than a boon for people who like stats and want to get in the game. You've got too many variables and cannot control for them all. And many fans (and some GM's ie Chayka) believed you can win a cup by solving stats puzzles...its not the case.

We already built around him and we've missed the playoffs for 10 years other than one.... yes every team covets a player like him because he is terrific 2c support player, not a captain. We have a choice to make between him and Miller that's the issue Miller brings more competitive fire Miller is a better player overall Miller is only 1.5 years older Miller is a better leader Bo fits in nicely in a team that doesn't need him to be the guy...to be the voice, to be the leader the alpa dog...He has that role here, and he's not fulfilling it and we don't have enough of those type of players to take that responsibility away. And personally, a 60 pt center who's also the captain and going to be paid 7 mil needs to be that because he sure as hell isn't putting in 50 goals and 50 assists. And finally, you don't need to hurl insults at people who do not share your view on a person who plays a game for a living. You may be surprised at the level of sports many played here, including myself. That however does not make anyone more right or wrong, we are all entitled to our opinions. However, insults certainly don't reflect well on the person hurling them.

I don't think he will bust. He will be a Schiefle level player. A decent 1c but not a star. 70 pt player but if you have a 2c doing the same (Suzuki) you're pretty solid down the middle. I think montreal will basically have two 1b/2a centers in the end. Not a bad situation.

So now Bo is being compared to Bergeron - multiple Selke awards Crosby - generational center who has won hart trophies, richard, playoff mvp etc Towes - trophies galore Lidstrom - Hall of famer, trophies galore Actually all the names you mentioned will likely end up in the hall of fame.... I guess you guys don't get it. SMH

You went from Stamkos who's a 100 pt player to now the best offensive player in the planet as your arguments You're clearly missing the point about a captain's role to change the game, and how 100 pt players are able to do so with skill, skill that Bo does not have. I just explained this and you clearly did'n't take the time to read what I just wrote. SMH

Stamkos scores 50 goals and can change the game in 2 shifts Everyone is using 100 pt players as their comps. Bo is not a 100 pt player. Your captain needs to be able to change the momentum in a game, that's his role. TO LEAD If he can't score 100 pts like Hank, Yzerman, Sakic, Stamkos, he has to use his other tools. Which he does not. I have posted above, how many hits he had last year (and its consistent with years prior in terms of his ranking). Read that post, look at who had more hits (hint Kailer Yamomoto and Alex Debrincat - 2 smurfs, amongst others), and tell me that screams engagement. As for the Rangers, yep no one wears the C but they sure do have a team of players who compete and play with emotion right? You think Kredier isn't a physical leader? Trouba? K'andre Miller, they brought in Reaves, Motte, Copp, Gaudreau Do we have that level of compete and physicality? If we don't someone needs to lead right? How about a 6'1 220 lb captain who hits less than Yamamoto and Debrincat to start!
