  1. He did but not both in the same season. Losing your 2 top centers is never a good idea, especially in one season, there needs to be a transition. One needs to go, question is who will it be. I suspect it will be the player who gets them the most value, and if close, they will keep Miller
  2. Nah, just a smart pick up. Free RD who seems to have some talent...They're trying to fill holes, the more irons in the fire the better. For sure time will tell but no one is saying this guy is a savior.
  3. Have him fly to the USA and pay Phil Kessel to rent him a room for the summer
  4. Toronto would be smart to make that move. They are very close and Gibson gives them a legit shot. Nylander looks to be the sacrifice. Signing Tavares is what screwed them. Terrible signing at the time and worse now. I never understood it. They had oodles of young offense, Tavares was redundant and took up too much cap to fill out D and goaltending. Now Nylander, who has really developed into a very strong 2 way player, after being a bit of a floater early, will be the cost...Can't believe Dumbass still has a job when its been obvious since he came in what they needed to do and he kept making mistakes. He's lucky he had high draft picks and stars that fell to him (and Matthews) else he would be gone.
  5. Well he's 176 lbs, they probably want him to gain some muscle. Physically not ready for the AHL
  6. Actually I changed it...I realized we just signed him...so technically he must be our property....Given his size, they probably think its better for him to keep playing there and put on some muscle before coming to NA.
  7. Size maybe? Perhaps they feel better for him to gain weight first.
  8. From that video... Definitely looks like some burgers need to be on the menu haha...but we know that Seems to be very mobile Seems to have a nice shot, hard slap shot, accurate wrister and seems to have a very good one timer. Alot to like there, particularly if he's a defensive dman as advertised.
  9. Signed for one more year in sweden, then coming over. We'll see him in the young stars this season though, according to the pr.
  10. The league just 'inserts' a pick there, so everyone below drops one spot down. The pick does not come from the Canucks as he's a UFA
  11. He's under contract for one more year in Sweden, then will come over. Not a bad place to be playing. He will apparently be at young stars so we will get a glimpse of him there.
  12. Only 22 The description in the PR gives me a Tanevesque vible. Point total suggest the same (defensive dman - 11 pts in 46 / 47 games last two seasons). But he did have 7 pts in 9 playoff games this year which is impressive. A free 6'1 RD who can play like Tanev is good enough for me! Gradin would likely have had some input here as well and is well known to be a stellar scout for us.
  13. The bolded part is the key for any team to become a contender. You have to be able to develop from within and get some nice surprises (players who exceed their draft position). Look at our 2011 team Kesler - When drafted, believed to be a 3c at best Burrows - never drafted Bieksa - 5th round pick who became a pillar on defense Edler - late 3rd round pick Hansen - 9th round pick (when they had that many rounds), 5th to last player taken What you see there is a MAJOR part of the core of the team who was drafted and exceeded their potential. And interestingly, what you see in all of those names is one common characteristic - compete......In a cap world, this becomes even more important as signing UFA's usually means overpaying, and trades are harder and harder these days.
  14. For those saying NYR won't trade Schnider, Kravstov and a first for Miller (assuming an extension is agreed to), might I ask, when should a team go all in? If this isn't the time for them to go all in, I really don't know when a team does. And all you're giving up off your roster is a RD playing 11 mins a night behind Fox and Trouba.. Many people ignore where a team is in their process and what their goal is...its not to collect high draft picks, its to win a stanley cup. NYR are pretty damn close and probably regret not making the Miller trade now. There is this underlying idea in many posts and many fans views that there is some perfect time where its obvious you can win a cup....and until then you can never trade young players, just keep stocking up! because one day you'll have all the best young players in the world! Doesn't work that way. Looking at their roster, with Mika (28), Panarin (29), Kreider (30), Trouba (27), Goodrow (28) - their leaders and core are now in their primes and you can't waste it....you waste these guys then all of a sudden its rebuild time and you waste the guys behind them. We may not get Schnieder Chytl and a first but I'd be surprised to not see NYR amenable to the deal above now....perhaps it take Schenn going the other way as well.
  15. I feel like this guy as alot of ego....I'm already on the pass train. At best a middle six winger Spending all this time with his agent making it seem like a sweepstakes for Connon McDavid Fabian Brunstrom 2.0
  16. Agree. I have read that Zacha is a very inconsistent player, and lacks motivation at times. Has all the tools but is not always engaged. I don't watch him alot so I can't comment but if you read fan's on other boards to who, and read some articles it seems to be the case....Alot of people like the idea of a big, strong skating RD with some offensive game and think....Zacha but haven't watched him I don't think. Because those who have seem to think he's very frustrating.
  17. And then when he doesn't choose us bash him as overrated! LOL p.s. I don't see him as a big loss if we don't...We see this repeatedly with KHL or NCAA players, often the big fish is nothing more than a minnow.
  18. for sure, no debate there, just that he's got more media on him than OJ's white bronco chase lol
  19. yes, but has also been speculated as part of NYR trades (including for Miller)....interesting timing....
  20. Rangers re-sign Kravtsov to a one year 890k deal... Interesting timing, given he was part of a potential NYR/Van deal....hmmm
  21. 80's oilers in their first trip to the cup vs the 80's dynasty isles....close as it gets today
  22. This loss may actually help us now...the Rangers will feel they are close but also saw their team run out of gas and their fire. There is zero doubt, Miller would have helped them. As others have said, parting with Schnieder, a first which is late, and even Laff may not mean much. Miller gets them over the hump and Panarin, Mika, Trouba, Kreider, are not spring chickens anymore, they have 2-3 runs left in them...You're this close you don't want to blow it now... I suspect the Rangers will be calling Alvin once they've had time to decompress.
  23. Have to really respect the Bolts. 3 Straight Finals appearances, apparently never been done in the history of each round being 7 game series (1987) Older veteran team who could easily have just packed it in down 2-0 and said meh, we've won two in a row...this isn't our year But they fight back and win 4 straight....that's hunger, that's desire, that's what our players need to learn... Love them or hate them, I respect the Bolt's fully. I would love to see Colorado win but I think its going to be one hell of a series and go 7 games. Feels like the 80's oilers meeting the Isles in their first trip to the cup....
