  1. If you got this guy on your team, nobody is gonna mess with your stars. Fagedaboutit.
  2. I truly don't understand how people say they are a mess on D. Fourth best goals against average in the league, with according to CDCer's an AHL calibre defense and goaltending. Marner and Matthews are great 2 way players, but don't think that they can make up for how some perceive as an abysmal back end. May as well give the Adams to Keefe right now and the Selke to Marner.
  3. 60 points and -30. He is on a downward trend. If any one wants to give a 2nd rounder you run with it. Probably get a low 3rd with a 50% retention for someone looking for a reclamation project.
  4. Gotta agree with this assessment of Boeser. At this stage I think he'd get a 3rd with some salary retention. Most teams are looking at how his career is going, and I don't think any contender would take a chance on that.
  5. I don't know if this is the same as the soft cap/luxury tax the NBA has, but teams that are profitable should be allowed to go over the cap. If teams such as Arizona can't attract revenue then too bad for them. I would like to see something such as, if a team goes over the cap up to 5 million they pay a 20% tax. The next 5 million is a 40% tax. Next 5 is 60%. Anything over 20 million would be a 100% tax. So if the Canucks wanted to go over the cap by 15 million, it would cost them an extra 6 million in taxes.
  6. If a player signs a 1 year deal and gets traded before the end of it, that is on them. They could hold out for longer term. If a team signs a player to a 7 year hometown discount and trade them before it kicks in, that is on the team and is what will scare off pending free agents.
  7. There are certainly players who will sign a contract with any team, as the amount is more important than the security. But many players value being in a city because of family, hometown discount, etc. If Miller were to be traded now why would anyone who wants to sign in Vancouver for more than just the money do so in the future? It's more than likely Miller would have gotten a bigger contract elsewhere based on last season, but for whatever reason choose to stay here for a lesser amount.
  8. Moving out Miller now before his extension kicked in would be a bad sign for any future signings, whether internal or free agents. Why would someone sign in Vancouver not knowing whether they will actually play there or end up somewhere else?
  9. Ukraine got knocked out in the qualifying stages by Wales, Russia and Belarus were disquaified.
  10. So, for example, if Vancouver and Calgary both have that ref on their list would that not be the perfect ref to do the game?
  11. If penalties are challengable, shouldn't missed calls be too? May as well add an extra hour to games then.
  12. Toronto in the 60's had the rights to Gerry Cheevers, but they also had Sawchuk and Bower. Apparently he was a decent winger so TO tried to protect him as a skater but the NHL said no so he ended up in Boston
  13. Hopefully he will retire soon so we don't have to see this every year he is put on waivers.
  14. Could Vancouvers defense care less? Seriously. They look at someone going past them and give up, hoping the goalies will bail them out.
  15. I get the impression the BB would prefer to play closer to home, and Laine never ever wanted to play in Winnipeg. I think a trade could be worked out here, but the Canucks would have to add.
  16. Makarov winning in Calgary after playing for years as a "pro" in Russia is why they changed the rules.
  17. That sounds like an Eklund trade rumour. Pretty much everyone in the world has predicted a suspension of 3-10 games, this guy is not an insider, he is just pulling numbers out of his butt.
