Predict The Score Contest: STL @ VAN December 19 2022

I don't know 2-1 nucks bear -
Note: lineups and other info get updated through the day Media: TV: Sportsnet Pacific, ESPN/Hulu+ (USA) Radio: Sportsnet 650 The return of Shorty? Overview The Canucks got the fever last game but it wasn't for cowbell. Another saturday night and the canucks were not alright for fighting, looking listless without their untouchable star pettersson and barely managing to score in a 5-1 loss to the Jets. Pettersson is out tonight, but even still they dearly need some desperation and energy to keep faith with their fanbase. Miller is ice-cold in scoring lately, no goals in 10 games and with only 3 points in his last 6. Horvat scored to keep his numbers moving and quinn hughes picked up an assist after being off the scoresheet for the prior 2 games. In net we will see Martin as Dellia's wife had a baby and he was recalled to Abby. The Backup is young latvian Arturs Silovs, the 5th Latvian to make an NHL lineup, and the 3rd one of those with Vancouver after Arturs Irbe and Peter Skudra. The Blues are feeling extra cool, winning their last 3 games including both in Alberta and are looking for another tonight. They've been powered by their young line of Thomas, Kyrou and Barbashev. Thomas Greiss got the win over Calgary but it's likely we'll see Binnington in net. Binnington was touched by madness a few weeks back but since a meeting with Berube on Dec 5, he's helped the blues to 3 wins and only one loss. He has never lost in regulation against the canucks and has never lost at GM place. The Blues penalty kill has been better of late as well though they did give up 2 goals against the Oilers. The Canucks continue to hover around .500 but they still behind in the wildcard race. Their opponents tonight and 5 of their next 6 games are all against western teams who are above them in the playoff race so this will be their last chance to gain any ground before 2023. I'm no longer a betting man but if it was i wouldn't put my money on them based on prior form. MATCH-UP INFO Tonight marks the first of three meetings between the Canucks and Blues this season: Dec. 19 (home), Feb. 23 (away), and Mar. 28 (away). The Canucks are 77-98-18-5 all-time against the Blues, including a 45-44-9-3 record at home. Vancouver is 1-3-1 in their last 5 games against St. Louis (4-4-2 in their last 10). Oliver Ekman-Larsson leads active Canucks skaters in career games played against the Blues with 37 and points with 15 (4-11-15). Elias Pettersson has 12 points (4-8-12) in 9 career games against St. Louis. Conor Garland has 11 points (5-6-11) in 14 career games against St. Louis. J.T. Miller has nine points (4-5-9) in 13 career games against St. Louis. Spencer Martin has yet to face the Blues in his career. Collin Delia has yet to face the Blues in his career. QUICK NUMBERS Bo Horvat has nine goals and 14 points (9-5-13) in his last 14 games and is fourth in the NHL in goals (22) this season. Quinn Hughes has 26 points (0-26-26) this season and is fourth in the NHL in assists among defencemen (26 in 26 GP). He also is ranked seventh in the NHL in power play assists with 14. Nils Höglander has four points (1-3-4) in his last five games including his first multi-point game of the season (Dec. 14 vs CGY). Elias Pettersson has 16 points (7-9-16) in his last 13 games and leads the team with the most points (34) and multi-point games this season at 11 (11-16-27 in those 11 games). [PGT] Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks | Dec. 17, 2022

i'm getting tired of talking about it as we're not the ones there. Need to reset expectations to zero or i'll depress myself. There's joy in a great deflection by bo, in a shot by pettey or a great hit. Time to keep it simple -

There's many different models for success out there. Pettey would be fine ambassador type like naslund. You're right in that bo was chosen to be that guy but he's a scorer and lacks the willingness on d. Things can change though We need a checking and defensive spine though and this group does not have one. -

Bieksa talked about the group of leaders on that run. I think we really need more of that.Personally i like a checking line forward to be the leader, they show it by their effort and often chip in big goals. I really hope that we can rebuild with pettey focusing on getting goals and finding a brindamour/older linden type who throw a hit, check and score. Maybe the game has changed though. -
