  1. This other canucksarmy post had me thinking of future giraffes:

The excitement obviously comes from the fact that this kid is 6’6″ and can move pretty well. He’s shown some flashes of offensive skill but from what we’ve heard, Pulli is a bit of a chaos creator on the backend. He’s still very young and you can’t teach size, so, this player definitely should draw interest from NHL teams.

Well, if Delia starts, I think the Canucks win this one.

Also, what are the chances Studnicka is back and Kuzmenko sits?

Then again while the province said unlikely for monday, canucksarmy said studz and kuz alternated positions on a 3rd line on sunday.

    From the province: https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/rick-tocchet-latest-tack-attack-fitness-for-sustained-competitive-level

"Defenceman Travis Dermott has missed the last five games to an undisclosed injury. “It’s day-to-day right now,” said Tocchet. “He was on the ice the other day and did partake about 60 or 70 per cent and it’s an ongoing thing. Studnicka is a lineup option Monday, but lost weight with a non-COVID illness on the road trip in which he was sent home. “He’s got a lot of his weight back,” said Tocchet. “I’m not sure yet if he’ll play (Monday).”

"The main point of concern right now is Andrei Kuzmenko — who is averaging 14:07 of ice time in the Tocchet era after being a player who averaged 16 minutes a night with Bruce Boudreau. It’s still relatively early so we’re not too worried about Kuzmenko’s spot in the lineup. Seeing him rotate with Jack Studnicka on the third line during Sunday’s practice is definitely not ideal, but we will see what Tocchet is cooking up for Monday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings."

Studz illness was apparently bad and he lost weight. I don't think he's back anytime soon.

Province also said that dermott has had an injury for past 4-5 games. Surprised by lack of callups then

The dogs who have a blood thirsty for check will be the dogs that get to play for RT he has no patience for anything but your best efforts.

Exactly, You can coach checking, better grinding and defence. You can reward effort for those eras. That seems exactly the coach that tocchet is.

Can you coach elite scoring? Vision? Killer instinct, a feel for positioning to score? The ability to process things in a microsecond and have the speed and skill to execute? I think that is rarer gift and kuzmenko to me is a great indicator of where the canucks will go. Great to have 2-way guys, but if you alienate scorers you're not going anywhere...

We'll see how it plays out but i do feel that we're not headed in the right direction.

He hasn’t looked that good though for the most part. Maybe Injury sure, but definitely hasn’t driven play, and picked up most of his points as a passenger, on a team that can score plenty but can’t defend (in my opinion)

    indeed

Kuzmenko has 0 assists compared to brock in the tocchet era, but he does have 3 goals. Boeser still rarely looks dangerous when he's shooting and he has 1 goal, garland has 2 as well.

I don't want to relive the tepid past

The "old school" ways of coaching won't work in today's NHL. Sitting Kuzmenko on a team that doesn't have many positives at this point of the season doesn't make any sense to me. Garland does more whirling dervish moves and the play ends. Kuz at least has some results to show for his shortcomings.

    Completely agree.

Toronto - hey so what about Myers

vancouver - sold, he’s on the plane. Click.

can we interest you in oel too? 2 for 1 deal

Myers/oel gone would be addition by subtraction. They are both getting worse, are bottom d at best and i'd rather see abby guys get a real shot to develop. Brisbois looked steady earlier this season and they could evaluate others like juulsen.

I never used to be an early bird but these days I love this time of day.  Nobody else is awake yet!  I can sit and peacefully drink my coffee for a bit before being ready to start the day.

I usually go to bed at midnight, awake at 6:30. However east coast US means that i'm up to 1:30 for canucks home and other west coast games. I usually manage it though i definitely need the days between.
