  1. This roster is looking competitive with Suter in the mix. I'd like to see him with Joshua on the third line to add a bit more size, and then reunite part of the SHM line on the fourth. It would be nice to see Karlsson get a shot.
  2. I don't own a Soccer jersey, but if I were to get one it would be #12 without hesitation. One of the best Canadian athletes of all time. Sinclair and Wickeheiser are no brainers in my Mt. Rushmore of Best Canadian female athletes. Lori Kane, Elizabeth Manley, Sandra Schmirler, Clara Hughes, Cindy Klassen, Cartriona Le May Doan are some of my earliest memories of Canadian women competing at their highest levels and succeeding. Canada is in good hands with Brooke Henderson, Penny Oleksiak among others leading a new generation of amazing women. Let's go Girls!
  3. It remains to be seen if this is an actual transcript, but it's scary non the less. Interesting break down of the speed of decent with the time stamps and distance updates. The submersible was decending too fast. They started getting alerts and heard a weird noise towards the aft. They tried to ascend but wasn't going as fast as they should be. Contact lost around 9:45.
  4. The best way I can think of would be to designate a home and away game versus each Canadian teams as a "Cascadia" game. So all eastern conference games would technically be "Cascadia" games. All the teams would play 12 designated games and the winner is determined by points. The winning team gets a tax break.. or added cap space.. or a free buyout. Anyways, back to reality... would be fun for the Canadian markets. I just don't see the league catering to Canada anytime soon.
  5. With the NBA having issues with teams allowing all these maintenance days to their stars, I can see how assignment specific regular season games as "Tournament Games" with massive cash prizes could be an incentive to have all these diva super stars actually play for their team. As for the NHL, an In-Season tournament game would probably be more interesting than the All Star Game. Maybe stack the majority of games for after the All Star break as a way to dissuade teams from tanking? I'd like to see an In-Season Tournament amongst Canadian teams. Maybe designated 2 games per team that counts towards both standings. So pretty much every game against Ott, Tor, Mtl are tournament games. I dont know, just a thought.
  6. I like Fowler, but it just doesn't make sense to add that salary while we still need to pay Pettersson and Hronek in the near future. Unless I'm reading it wrong, Capfriendly shows that Fowler's M-NTC enables him to submit a 4 team trade list. I think it's safe to say Vancouver wouldn't be one of those teams.
  7. We were such a spoiled fan base to get to witness the way they saw and played the game. You can see the Sedin influence in Willander in the way he carries himself in interviews and in his focus to becoming a better player and person. Everyone kind of laughs up the Swedish connections to Vancouver, but if there's one consistency with this franchise it's our legacy with Swedish hockey and the players we've had the privilege to watch, from Gradin to Sedin. I'm excited at the potential for Pettersson, Willander and Lekkerimaki to continue that legacy towards even greater things.
  8. Also, it shows the difference in the way elite, hall of fame hockey minds think the game compared to a serviceable journeyman. The Sedins became quite good at using the environment around them to gain an advantage on the play. I guess it's easy to forget how special the Sedin's were when comparing them to how others play/think the game. Ugh.. I'm getting all sentimental.
  9. Fights are whatever, but the hit totals were a result of our horrible possession play. You throw more hits chasing the play than you do if you we're in control of the puck. While it remains to be seen if our defensive play and PK improve, the new additions provide some versatility and size that should make a difference compared to last season.
  10. I don't think Duchesne would accept that offer from Vancouver. $3M from a playoff team in an American market, or $3M from a re-tooling team in an unforgiving Canadian market? No brainer for Duchesne.
