Chelsea supporters of CDC: what would it take for you to want Mourinho fired? Or do you just wait out this rocky period? -
yeah! so if you haven't heard it, you may be interested in the album for the song I just linked. L'Orange and Kool Keith did a full project together, was just released in July. sounds very soulful, but fresh as fck. you'll dig it
-
L'Orange is a brilliant producer imo

speaking of which, Welbeck has now been confirmed out for at least 6 more months. Arsenal is such a mess. Everyone injured, all the time, and no replacements -

good for Rooney, great achievement -
Jack Nicholson in pretty much anything, really. I love that guy still haven't seen Volver, I should check that out. Almodovar has more indie cred than almost everyone in the film industry

jurassic world - 5.5/10 pretty much as expected. no heart, lots of Mercedes logos everywhere. too much action, no tension. but there were a couple of cool scenes I guess

LOVE & MERCY: 7.5/10 Despite only being 1 point higher than Straight Outta Compton, this is a significantly better music biopic. It's like a dual narrative of Brian Wilson (Beach Boys, for you unwashed fools). One narrative has Paul Dano playing the young, tortured, recreational drug-abusing songwriting genius, and the other narrative is John Cusack playing the older, more prescription-drug abused love figure. Anyway, a very solid biopic. Doesn't really have much of an emotional kick (I personally find the relationship sorta difficult to believe). I wish it had been more focused on the songwriting, although the love story and Wilson's very unhealthy relationship with his "therapist" was interesting, it just wasn't Pet Sounds interesting.

ah, you luck fella you. i guess i'll have to wait a few days, but i didn't get much of a good look around, since the store was closing. I've read Sisters Brothers three times now, and I really like everything I've read about DeWitt as a person, so I'm hoping I'll like this and he gets a good career out of his work. Gives me some time to finish up what I've got going currently, at least

did you just buck the system? I was there earlier and was told they have them in store, but not "stocked" for sale.

wtf word up, gonna head down there

that's some type of irony right there: when the Dutch need Robben to be on the pitch pretending to be injured so they can gain free kicks and field advantage, he is _actually_ injured -
hey, did you actually purchase this book today? if so, where? most websites I'm looking at have totally conflicting release dates -- none of which seem to be today? (Chapters says 9th, Bolen 15th)
-
man, this is amazing
-
Ooohhhh damn it's out? You know he's coming to Bolen Books in Oct? I'm so psyched

Here's a pretty interesting breakdown of Rooney vs. Charlton for international performance http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/wayne-rooney-vs-bobby-charlton-whos-got-best-england-scoring-record Rooney only has 1 goal in the world cup finals, in 11 games. That is a very damning stat, but he was also played way out of position in a number of games. In 2014 WC he was constantly positioned wide - there was a near-constant discussion about his awkward positioning on the BBC and Guardian and stuff. I don't like Rooney, and I say it all the time.. but I do think that his goal stats for England could very easily be higher if he were played in his natural goal scorer's position -
do you guys have a fav. performance?
-
i think Raging Bull might be my all-time favourite lead performance, to be honest. If not my #1, then easily top 3. I wonder if he and Pacino made really poor financial decisions in their younger days, or are they just cashing in for their family. very strange film choices for well over 15 years now, when they should have had their pick of the litter for scripts one would think. as much as I miss Joe Pesci, you gotta respect him for not taking that route

Straight Outta Compton: 6.5/10 Decent for those interested in the time, but for a movie that's two and a half hours long, I felt like I was being sold an image rather than being told a "real" fleshed out story -- could the story have been any more of a concerted effort to make Dr. Dre look like a good dude and conflicted businessman destined for greatness? At first I didn't think I'd really notice or care about the movie leaving out his abusive relationships or his supposedly intense alcoholism, but when he would string himself to the cross from time to time for the good of the label or group "IM TRYIN TO WORK & U GUYS JUST WANNA PARTY" and "YEAH OK EAZY-E, YOU CAN BE FEATURED ON THIS FINAL TRACK SINCE YOU CAME CRAWLING BACK TO ME" - i sorta roll my eyes. Speaking of eye-rolling, if the closing lines of the movie ("...Aftermath") don't make you cringe, then you've already sipped the Kool-Aid. As if Suge Knight is the villain of the film and Dre the doe-eyed underdog, lmao MC Ren, who wrote almost half of the album that the movie is literally named after, barely has more than 2 or 3 lines in the entire script. Why is that? DJ Yella, the album's CO-PRODUCER, is a fringe figure as well. This is a Dr. Dre vanity project, and a decent-at-best movie IMO

Lampard and Gerrard never worked well together. Hodgson said recently that Wilshere and Carrick will challenge eachother for the DM spot, but he would also consider changing the formation to fit them both. Honestly, I'm not sure that's a bad idea if you could have a couple of attackers wide. I honestly have no idea how defensively responsible they are, but maybe Sterling on the left and Sturridge or Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right, depending on who is healthy, etc.? Rooney in a #10 spot down the middle, since we know he CAN be defensively responsible when he wants to be. like this: -

Speaking of Rivaldo, this is probably my all-time favourite goal. I've probably posted it like 10 times here, but it's always worth re-watching: -
you cheeky boy.

Does anybody prefer the Euros? as much as I love the IDEA of the World Cup, I usually just find myself so frustrated with how so many countries approach the game. Does anybody remember Nigeria vs. France? The Nigerians had one of the most unsportsmanlike, embarrassing displays I have ever seen at that level. I STILL remember the 2002 World Cup, where Rivaldo had the ball kicked at him for a corner and he fell to the ground clutching at his face like he'd been sucker punched. I was relatively new to the sport at the time and kinda young, but oh my god this just stuck with me. I felt embarrassed watching it, as I had tremendous admiration for the player: Diving is weak and hurts the game, but I can tolerate it on some level. I expect it, too. But some countries really seem to utilize it, or rely on it, to win -- these teams often come out in droves for the World Cup. In the Euros, you really only have to worry about a couple of nations being that cheeky and embarrassing
