the parts that annoyed me the most, for some reason, is when the Doctor would encounter like some military personnel and just randomly shout ALPHA SQUAD, DELTA FORMATION! GO! and all the people would completely ignore the random-ass, weird stuff going on around them and just run around following the orders of the complete stranger? like, was he casting a spell on them? or were the military people just really that stupid/easy to influence? it just seemed so weird, and he did it at least two or three times in the season at pretty crucial scenes oh well, go with the flow i guess

ahahah, the whole time I was watching it I couldn't decide if it was better or worse than the later seasons of True Blood, which I think remain the worst I've ever seen. Did you watch the old, old, old seasons of Doctor Who? are they even worth checking out?

doctor who - season 1 (2005): 5/10 this show has moments of pure charm, but IMO, it is extremely dated -- and not at all in a charming way. from the music, to the clothes, to the language ("you're so gay!"), it just reeks of early 2000s tackiness. at first i hated the Doctor, then I hated Rose, and now I have no idea who I liked or didn't like -- although I do feel sorry for Mickey. Rose was falling in love with every dude she met, while poor Mick was fixing cars back at home, running to every throbbing Tardis sound he heard. poor guy. anyway, I would never in a million years recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a specific interest in cultish sci fi or British culture. that said, i watched the Christmas episode of season 2 last night, and I had more laughs in that one episode than I did in the entire first season - so maybe I'll stick with it.

well yeah i dont disagree with that, i dont like rooney at all -- his attitude seems terrible to me, and with the exception of maybe two campaigns, he's never really been an outstanding player i think he'll be remembered for his potential and his attitude/style far more than he will his ability, but that's just me. and i admit i'm not a fan at all -

the reason to sign beckham, rooney, etc. wouldn't be to appeal to the french market lol, it would be to appeal to the global market - Manchester United has a massive global following, and poaching its most recognizable player, despite him being the imbecile that he is, would boost PSG's global profile dramatically. just like snatching Ibra did. Beckham being more recognizable than Rooney doesn't matter, the point is that Rooney IS recognizable, and a profile-boosting player. doesn't matter when Becks played for United, the point I was making was that PSG are not above signing players for marketing purposes, and besides, Rooney is 100x better today than Beckham was at 38-39 - so the signing wouldn't be nearly as cynical. I don't even know what you're arguing anymore, to be honest. Di Maria alone proves that players can be good enough for PSG and not do well at United, Beckham alone proves that PSG have no problem signing a past-prime player for marketing purposes. That pretty much ends the discussion as far as I'm concerned -

http://repucom.net/europes-top-10-most-marketable-footballers/ Di Maria was lazy, and a total failure in England. he was sold from Madrid because he wasn't good enough and didn't sell shirts there - point stands, he couldn't make it at United, and now he's making huge money at PSG - a team that already dominates their weaker league. the Beckham point is totally relevant: PSG were willing to pay him 200,000 a week simply because of his name. He never would have had that opportunity at a top tier English team. PSG are willing to pay top dollar for image boosting: so why wouldn't they pay for a serviceable player like Rooney, who has a global reputation and some talent left? Even if Rooney didn't have the ability, why wouldn't they do another "pure marketing move"? -

Di Maria? a 38 year old David Beckham? i disagree, if for no other reason than PSG seems to value its ability to sell shirts and headlines and continue branding itself. Rooney's name/reputation would really help -

Rooney was willing to hold Manchester United hostage on contract negotiations how many times? He demanded a public apology from Sir Alex Ferguson of all people -- seemingly based on a technicality ("I didn't REALLY put in a transfer request, because that would require paperwork and a loss of wages!"), he used Chelsea as a bargaining chip when Moyes took over and demanded a new contract--convenient timing, I say. He basically went public saying that HE is more ambitious than Manchester United, and thinks he could do better elsewhere. ...and you think he would go back to Everton? His wage bill is probably that of the entire Everton roster, and by the time he wouldn't be able to make that money anymore, he'd be too washed up to be effective for them, I think. Even when he played for Everton this summer in that testimonial match, he didn't seem to have much sentimentality to him. I'd be really surprised if he went back as a player -- coaching role? maybe. Player? doesn't seem to fit his character at all -

I think Rooney would do very well in the French league, actually -- I just couldn't imagine him trying to learn a word of French.. -

Tottenham once Kane leaves. Arsenal could maybe want him. PSG would want him after Ibra leaves. I don't think it would be difficult to find a new home for Rooney, it's just a matter of where he'd be willing to play -

he can't be sold because LvG didn't buy anyone to replace RvP or Falcao... Rooney cries about playing deep, calls himself a pure striker... but NEEDS to perform and has not. he'll be 30 soon, makes MASSIVE wages, and will not get better with age. if the a decent offer is put in, United should take it, imo -

if he moves to the MLS before he's 33 years old, I would be shocked. he turned 30 in the Spring, and scored 61 goals this year for Madrid - his career high. What would he honestly do in New York..? Play beside the 34 year old lesser Wright-Philips brother? -

20,000 Days on Earth: 9.5/10 a "documentary" (a lot of it is obviously staged and scripted) about Nick Cave during his recording of the phenomenal Push the Sky Away album. deals with his writing process, his history/memories, his fears, etc. With a couple of great, stripped down performances scattered throughout. A must see for anyone interested in the cult of personality, or Cave as an artist.

back in the day, I used to almost always follow teams based on how fun they were to play in Championship Manager, actually... (minus the usual suspects only getting coverage on tv) -

back in the day, I watched Ligue 1 almost exclusively (lost cable, but we got some weird French channel that would show PSG and Lyon games). Lyon had a total monopoly on the league, but I liked PSG because of Pauleta -- he was a cheap goal machine in Championship Manager back in the day. but I maintain it's a pretty good league to follow. Times have changed, but back then Lyon had Govou, Juninho, Malouda, Elber, etc. PSG had Pauleta, Ronaldinho. Drogba was a solid player, and you had French talent like Giuly around. I dunno, people talk sh-t on Ligue 1, but I think it's worth checking out. Unfortunate that PSG now has a monopoly. but again, I guess this is no different from Lyon dominating the league for like 7 years in 2000- -

I rated this a few pages back, but I don't even remember what I gave it. I can't imagine it would have been much higher than yours though -- definitely wanted to enjoy this way, way more than I did

i think, obviously, the song writing is great. but nah, the production for me is too crisp. it's sooo clean and compressed. do you not feel like the album just SOUNDS fake? compare it to their other releases (or god forbid their live material) and it's just night and day. Cobain later said he was embarrassed by it and that it sounds like a Motley Crue record. but obviously a lot of people really like it. most people probably don't even care about production haha personally, and this is just my taste, i like my rock music to sound like it's kinda dirty and quickly made. basically cheap. this is why i dig indie rock so much. it sounds cheap and authentic, and you can tell very few people have their hands in it other than the musicians anyway, in the re-issue of In Utero, you can find the 4 page production proposition letter from Steve Albini to Nirvana about how the vision and aim of the album, it's actually kinda interesting. i like the line about "if an album takes more than a week to record, someone is screwing up" http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/09/read-steve-albinis-proposal-to-produce-nirvanas-in-utero/

we need to talk about kevin: 8.5/10 never seen this. very disturbing movie, but very well done.

Irrational Man: 7/10 Certainly not Woody Allen's best, but definitely not his worst either. The first 1/3 has very questionable dialogue, and sometimes it seems like a lot of the movie may have been lost in the editing room -- it's so lighthearted at times that it almost seems like a comedy, and yet the movie is, at its core, about the morality behind very heinous acts. It's sorta like Woody Allen meets Crime and Punishment -- or, Woody Allen remakes Crimes and Misdemeanours but this time it's not as good.
-
maybe, but it's well documented that he didn't like the glossy, awful production on Nevermind and how poppy it sounded. regardless of his mental health issues, dude became a pop star over night with Nevermind -- hence the dramatic shift with In Utero

haaa the reviews for Fantastic Four are so overwhelmingly negative (I think New York Magazine had an article about the weird wig used by one of the characters?), I'm almost tempted to see it
