  1. best power ballad = free bird
  2. Nirvana released Bleach, then Nevermind followed shortly after and Cobain became everything he hated too. so is that technically one album? that's even more impressive than GnR
  3. no, certainly didn't ruin it for me either. and i definitely thought it was an 8.5 or 9 up until the conclusion
  4. what makes the PC crowd MORE offensive to me is how these ignorant, offensive, racist morons _ARE_ adults. hearing a kid say "ur mom!" is just whatever to me. hearing an adult Dota player start talking endless trash to a teammate because he's mexican or south american, or whatever, is legitimately troubling. how can a grown ass person talk to others like that?
  5. Blue Ruin: 7.5/10 Watched this last night after seeing its RT score (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/blue_ruin/) and was pleasantly surprised. Typical revenge plot with a few interesting touches. Didn't care much for the ending, but there is a great deal of tension throughout. Not much dialogue, which is a good thing. Solid performance from the lead. Good little movie for those who can stomach the slowness and lack of talking that is interrupted by a few scenes of pretty graphic violence
  6. you obviously don't play any of the major multiplayer PC games? no Dota or League? can't go 20 minutes without having racist, homophobic, or profanity-laden comments tossed someone's way
  7. dunno where to post this, but trailers for new upcoming HBO shows. Westworld: and Vinyl:
  8. Following four years of growing anticipation and hype, The Lost World broke many box office records upon its release. It took in $72,132,785 on its opening weekend ($92.6 million for the four-day Memorial Day holiday) in the U.S.,[30] which was the biggest opening weekend at the time,[31] surpassing the previous record-holder Batman Forever at $52.8 million. It held onto this record for four and a half years, until the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in November 2001. The Lost World took the record for highest single-day box office take of $26,083,950 on May 25,[32] a record held until the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. It also became the fastest film to pass the $100 million mark, achieving the feat in just six days.[33] internet echo chamber has made this sort of opinion acceptable
  9. a girl walks home alone at night: 6/10 -- Iranian film that blends western genre elements with vampire film tradition (violence, sex). something for the most hardcore Tarantino fan, maybe, as he obviously influenced this. a very 'art house' take on genre bending. it's like a less interesting, somehow-even-slower version of Let the Right One In
  10. but but but popcorn movie entertainment popcorn entertainment "good for what it is" popcorn entertainment movie popcorn enter blah blah
  11. obviously but my conscience is clean anyway
  12. Universal has announced that it has already broken the all-time annual take for box office numbers. Beating the previous record which was set... last year. 5.52 billion so far -- many months left in the year, too. http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/05/universal-pictures-breaks-box-office-record-biggest-year-ever Remember guys, piracy is killing the industry.
  13. is Pedro that good? I've only watched a few Barcelona games and he's never stood out to me -- which isnt to say he was poor, I just literally never noticed him
  14. Watched this last night: Scholes sounds pretty harsh, but I think it's entirely accurate -- especially what he says about Wilshere. He says he was "a top young player" when he was new on the scene, but his development is basically non-existent. He is still the same player he was when he was 17. Harsh, but fair. This goes back 20 or so pages when some of us were talking about the underrated holding/strong midfield position. How could Wenger rely on Vieira for so long, and yet not see how severely he's lacking that same position?
  15. jack wilshere out with a suspected hairline fracture in his leg. could be two months. reminder:
  16. cool. london is my fav. city i've ever been to. would love to move there -- but good god, very expensive
  17. technically, but stamford bridge is only like 5 mins out of kensington/chelsea area. definitely in the posh part of town where you would not expect to see people walking around in football gear, haha
  18. Very expensive, but I could see it. He may not be worth 40m, but the fact that he's English inflates it all probably because Arsenal's fanbase pre-dates 2004
  19. unbreakable 6/10 - doesn't hold up. loved it when i was young, though fargo 8.5/10 - does hold up.
  20. dude, it's a show about a harsh collection of courts in a medieval fantasy world. i don't watch it for confirmations of narrative or political or social prejudices or biases i hold in 2015. anyway, the woman who got raped isn't in the exact same position. in the following episode, she started planning her escape. by the end of the season, it appears she has escaped. how do you know her character has not changed? remember in episode 3 of that season, the old lady walks up to sansa and says "the north remembers" and there's that dramatic pause. i think it would be foolish to think that sansa is done developing. but speculation aside, sansa's arranged marriage was most likely going to be consummated, so what did you expect? her to suddenly get a burst of agency out of it, unlike the vast majority of the characters in the show who have sexual mistreatment done to them just because, and become some feminist icon? now THAT would have been uncharacteristic and counter intuitive to the entire show thus far, because sexual violence is just part of the show -- but up until recently, it hasn't been applied to the good looking, sympathetic, young stars. as an aside, did the excessive and vulgar emasculation of theon--and the subsequent series of jokes and commentary about it--bother you? after all, the only change he went through after his (much worse) rape was that he became a servile dog. or, what about Dany being raped by Khal? or was her rape acceptable because she became powerful a few seasons later? i completely disagree that this has anything to do with poor writing. i think it has to do with consistent writing. poor writing would have been, for me, special treatment applied to a star just because she's a star, while everyone else sits in the gutter
