  1. i re-watched Zero Dark Thirty recently and thought it was pretty weak, to be honest. Loved it the first time, second time I was shocked at how terrible some of the dialogue was and cheesy the music and stuff could get.
  2. maleficent: 2.5/10 borderline unwatchable, but i couldn't stop. the best villain in the disney universe is made into a strong female hero. yuck.
  3. Looks like United got Rojo Read that Chelsea is looking to get that Italian youngster Mattia Destro. Never seen him play in the real world, but I sign him in a lot of Football Manager games, and he's a total stud. haha
  4. please do! over the last ten hours i've been telling everybody i know to watch it, just so i can hear or read more opinions. especially if you like dazed and confused. definitely has the nostalgic feel to it, just in a different sort of way. linklater is an absolute genius
  5. Do you guys know much about Blind? I know he played leftback for Ajax for most of his career, then moved to a defensive mid position last year and won player of the year and league title in Holland. that could be a pretty decent signing, if not for anything other than depth. did Liverpool use that transfer money yet?
  6. it takes a pretty serious opinion to bring out the caps didn't you make a similar post before with Dazed and Confused on the list? that's a pretty strong selection. But Grand Budapest can definitely wait. American Beauty, Dazed and Confused, Lost in Translation are all among my favourites--probably in that order. Grand Budapest is good, but not great like the others are IMO. haven't seen Life Itself or Waking Life, but I def should
  7. Boyhood - 10/10 An absolute masterpiece. Seriously, it's a testament to how a pretty basic, narrative film could be considered art. It's more than just a movie about A life, or a family of lives, it's pretty much 'North American Suburban Experience' as a whole. You'll totally see bits and pieces of yourself throughout, and it'll probably break your heart a little bit. The jarring bits of dialogue, the silly clothes, the trends, the music, everything, it all just fits a period. In a way, it's stuff we've probably all heard or said before, but when it's contained in a movie like this, it's just sorta special. To/for me, there's really something really moving and difficult about that watching a movie about the passing of time. I really loved it
  8. You guys see this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2726789/Thiago-Motta-HEADBUTTED-Bastia-s-Brandao-PSG-star-suffering-suspected-broken-nose.html Shades of Tortorella, although with a bit more head butt thrown in.
  9. but then again, I probably have no idea what I'm talking about, because I've been saying Wenger's lost it for a few years too, but he's made some decent moves in the last year or two. Although I think both Podolski and Giroud were pretty much trash signings
  10. It's easy to blame Moyes, especially when he's replacing a legend. But did Ferguson leave Moyes much to work with? An aged squad and a bunch of mediocre players. I don't really remember, but what was Fergie's transfer record like in the last 2 or 3 years in midfield? Ashley Young on the wing--and he's not been very impressive. Kagawa up front... and... is that it? United have needed a strong, holding or box to box midfielder for a long, long time. Even when they were playing well, the club was regularly outperformed by the world's best teams, IMO. Meanwhile, Ferguson also saw Pogba--easily the best young midfielder in this year's world cup--walk away for nothing. Of course Ferguson blames the kid and his ego.. because that's what Ferguson did to almost all young players. But yeah, Moyes didn't do anything. Van Gaal is trying to do something, but ultimately hasn't--he's just been the only one bold enough to really say that the squad is basically shambolic, which is an absolute breath of fresh air, IMO.
  11. I know United were targeting Vidal, and they didn't (and won't) get him.. but when are they going to get a proper midfielder? Ferguson didn't address this for years, and Moyes' last minute, desperate attempt to fix the issue (Fellaini) was a total mistake. Young looked poor at let back at times Little bit of bad luck, but really.. United should be winning their season opener against Swansea... Enjoyed the Tottenham game more. PVR'd the Arse game, will give it a watch later.
  12. one of the best songs i've heard in a long time super good
  13. still undecided on sportsnet world. $17/month for a single channel is outrageous, but with the Canucks now tumbling down my "give a sh*t about" list, surely I need something to watch...
  14. join CDC's fantasy premier league, if you like soccer/football.
