  1. luc besson's other recent movie, The Family, starred Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Tommy Lee Jones, and it is sincerely one of the worst movies i've ever seen Besson is STILL riding the credibility he has from The Professional and The Fifth Element
  2. ya i've heard damnation a bunch, i like it
  3. i wish opeth vocals weren't as gnarly as they are, otherwise i'd say they are easily just as good as, if not better than 95% of the wanky prog bands from the 70s
  4. it is. all about winning the CL from what we can see, willing the league seems like an afterthought i think the entire back 4 for PSG is the Brazilian international back 4, with 3 Italian internationals mixed in to the core, and a handful of French bench players. Lyon, on the other hand, is like 85% french. they still have Gourcuff, who i'm sure many of us will remember. wasn't he slated to be a world-beating midfielder a few years ago? still managed to have a decent career in France. always liked him. and I think that Lacazette guy is going to turn into a top striker. Not as good as the other Lyon graduate, Benzema, but I totally wouldn't be surprised if he pots 25-30 goals this year and is bought out by one of the big clubs, where he'll rot on the bench for a few years
  5. ligue 1 sure is in a dire state, now that PSG has a billion dollars pumped into it weekly. i guess it's no different than Lyon's dominance a decade ago, now just on a larger scale back when i didn't have cable, i'd sometimes watch ligue 1 games on some french channel i had, and i thought the lyon, psg, and OM games were always pretty good, especially lyon. and i loved Pauleta for PSG. since then, i've found the french league to be sorta underrated, certainly underappreciated. at this rate, though, i can't imagine PSG losing more than 2 or 3 titles over the next decade. booooring
  6. can't figure out what to watch this weekend? this may help
  7. can't stop playing this. charming, charming little song there i gooo-ooo-ooooooo
  8. Fading Gigolo: 6/10 Cute enough, but nothing I'd recommend to anyone who didn't have a strong tolerance for Woody Allen, and even then it's nothing special
  9. warm here on the island, but i'm by the beach so there's a pretty steady breeze rather be on the east coast in a pile of snow
  10. pretty sure everyones heard this song in some capacity (used in a nike commercial), but this version is killer
  11. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/picturegalleries/10827377/Premier-League-and-European-new-kits-2014-15-in-pictures.html what was manchester united thinking that home Ajax is nice. love their crest. wonder if Madrid's pink was Ronaldo's idea?
  12. friend of mine saw it tonight and said the same thing. good "for what it is" (red flag), and that it really dragged at times still gonna see it, but idk if i need to go see in theatre
  13. posted the trailer for this one a while ago, and I've been excited for it ever since. the trailer alone makes me want to weep i'm going to go on a Linklater marathon to psych myself up for it wiki says its release date was yesterday, but i imagine that was maybe a limited release in US? its not playing at my local theatre, as far as i can tell.
  14. that's who the movie is based on, but i think they named the character something else and changed some details up a bit so they didnt have to give RIFF any money
  15. sorta sad, he was absolutely fantastic during his prime. played his whole career at Barcelona, too. can't say that for many players. 100 international caps 6 league championships 3 time champion league winner 1 world cup 1 euro championship 1 olympic silver medal i'd say that's a pretty good career
  16. i'm not one for conspiracy theories, but both Suarez and Barcelona benefit huge from the biting incident, because Suarez is now a household name. it's like instant huge publicity for everyone involved. Even my mom, who doesn't know a thing about the sport, knows who Suarez is. No press is bad press, they say is there anyone you think Liverpool will get to replace him? 75 million is a huuuuuge return p.s. when the group stages were going on for the WC, and i had nothing to do on some days, i would just sit there waiting for the second game to start and i would watch Coronation St too lol
