  1. agreed didn't even read his post all the way through, didn't like the way it was going
  2. see, i was really hoping that i was just tired. for a 90 minute movie, it certainly felt a lot longer. i really, really loved what i did enjoy about it, but i think i need to watch it when i'm in a WA mood--then maybe i will be able to appreciate the whole thing more. but again, did love what i liked
  3. almost bought Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, since I really enjoy westerns and played through Blood in Bound -- then I realized I already have it, uninstalled and never played. Must have bought it during the last sale and not even realized it, haha. what a treat
  4. it's generic in that it's a disney movie based on a pretty famous fairy tale. i don't expect much else from that that description. but the animation was cute, i did enjoy the story and the characters. and i did think a few of the songs were cute too. just wasn't into the really intense ~i'm a pop star, listen to my scale~ songs
  5. you guys are such weirdos. Frozen was great (minus the music). get a heart, bums grand budapest hotel: 8.5/10 first 30 mins are great, last 30 mins are great. got a little bored in the middle, but i think that's just because i was super tired probably my favourite writing from any Anderson movie. cute story, yet it was very 'grand' with a bit of melancholy in there too. takes a serious subject (or at least a pretty bleak period in history) yet deals with it almost in a light hearted way. it's no Fantastic Mr. Fox, but it's very, very good. could have been a novel, really.
  6. only god forgives was totally panned (people jeered and walked out of it during Cannes lmao) i thought it was pretty good though, the end is a bit silly and excessively 'weird' IIRC, but the first 75% isn't nearly as bad as some people say it is, i don't think. but i have a very high tolerance for some slow movies, so take it with a grain of salt
  7. only thing I'm interested in picking up for sure is Fallout 3, which I thought I had, but apparently do not. Should be pretty cheap by now, I think
  8. is there something wrong w your keyboard
  9. Gyllenhaal has a wierd career. i like a couple of his movies, but why is he just in all of these totally middle-of-the-road suspense movies now? i'm sure it'll be fine. not good, not bad, just another jake gyllenhaal movie
  10. yep, just some dude typed it out for no reason on a completely unrelated video. had the Red Wedding spoiled more or less the same way, lol
  11. how can you predict where a story is going when out of nowhere some ice skeletons will jump into the narrative, kill off a character, while some previously unmentioned fire-shooting elf rescues the others? the show is impossible to predict in most cases. can't tell if it's good or bad at this point. some of the stuff (like mentioned above) is just silly. other parts are excruciatingly intense (hound/amazon woman fight)
  12. i had the Tywin thing spoiled days ago, so i was prepared. even though when it finally happened i was totally gutted. far and away my favourite character. honestly don't even really care so much about next season. hopefully jon snow or the imp get killed off though. if i can't have a beautiful villain, then i don't want the pretty boy romantic and the quirky underdog to get all the glory. so frustrating. hopefully that melisandre woman starts taking a more active role. i, uh, like her
  13. would be way better without the 'you know nothing jon snow' thing link to his other work? cute style
  14. oculus - 6/10. not bad, not particularly good. for a 90 minute movie, it sure did drag. had some good atmosphere at times, but overall wasn't super impressive. for a low budget indie-ish movie, its not a bad choice.
  15. 6.5? come on, i thought it was a really enjoyable little movie. one of my favourites of last year. way better than almost every rom com i've seen
  16. can't think of a dumber pair of individuals than Doughty and Brown. such a shame to see two monkeys win anything
  17. you're kidding me. reputable? read the comments: loads of people pointing out flaws in the "methodology" used. it's a click-baiting article, written by a woman who doesn't appear to do anything other than write click-baiting articles. in that article, the "worst returns" careers she cites DO earn returns, but because a communications careers can earn (according to "her" method) 81% return instead of 126% in an "info tech" career that she recommends in a remarkably similar article, you think 81% return copywriting position is something to wipe your ass with? even when that return is based on a hilarious series of assumptions? i guess we shouldn't question something as reputable as salary.com, after all, this author "specializes in writing books" and has (conveniently) ghost written a whole bunch of them. she even edited an unnamed trade magazine, once.
  18. way off. retail managers can make pretty good money sometimes. i have a friend who worked her way up in the Gap and she probably makes more than most people in this thread, without question, and has had many offers around north america for other opportunities. according to Business Insider, assistant managers at Wal Mart make 45k. a manager will make 70+ depending on area and the business the store brings in. not bad for retail
  19. link, please? I just tried to find this, and instead found numerous websites with completely conflicted stats about religion majors and social worker salaries, but no mention at all of communications degrees at all. as somebody who is interested in advertising, i look up jobs in the 'communications' field all the time, if only out of curiosity. i see plenty available, with decent pay, too. even in a culturally irrelevant city like Vancouver. i didnt see any of these jobs listed on any of the ROI sites. instead, i saw jobs like "museum researcher" listed near the bottom of the pile, listed at 48k. that's a job i would love, to be honest. i would love to work at a nice museum for 48k long, long, long before i would ever want to work in a law firm for 80k. i would rather literally die than have a job in a dentist's office or something. i don't really understand why you'd want to wipe your ass with a career you consider, i dunno, less valuable because its less lucrative, or something?
  20. you put far too much value in the university
