  1. I hope Gillis sends him hours upon hours of Patrick Kane video footage to study. Quite a few similarities in their styles of play.
  2. People used to say that Kesler had a muffin of a wrist shot, hands of stone and that he'd never score 20 in the NHL. What's he at right now, five consecutive 20g seasons? Anyone can work on their shot.
  3. Who do you think Gillis' five equivalents are? Here's my five: 1. Scott Hartnell 2. Milan Lucic 3. Ryane Clowe 4. Andrew Ladd 5. David Backes Honorable mention: Shane Doan & Brenden Morrow.
  4. I thought he was the one that got crunched on a 5-minute major boarding penalty a few days ago and had to leave the game:
  5. Daniel Briere 5'10" Jiri Hudler 5'10" Martin St Louis 5'9" Tyler Ennis 5'9" Derek Roy 5'9" Brian Gionta 5'7" Nathan Gerbe 5'5" Gillis' forward prospects with size: Grenier 6'5" S. Schneider 6'5" Kassian 6'4" Labate 6'4" Archibald 6'3" Jensen 6'3"
  6. God I hope this guy can become a bottom-six guy for us down the road here. Chicago keeps churning out guys like Brouwer, Bickell, now Bollig, and somehow they always make a playoff impact.
  7. If that turns out to be the case, well that's a major flub up. I can't believe Gillis & Gillman would be that shortsighted. They seem the types that typically cover all their bases.
  8. Are you 100% sure on that? It seems rather dumb for the NHL not to allow prospects on entry level contracts to develop in the AHL playoffs once their NHL playoffs are over. Isn't that what the AHL is? The NHL's official developmental league? Have you read all the provisions regarding the exceptions to the clear day roster rule?
  9. Rodin scored his 10th goal of the season to go along with 17a for 27pts and a -5 in 61gp this year. Those numbers are identical to Schroeder's numbers last year so I'd say that Rodin has done a decent job in terms of adjusting to the North American pro game.
  10. So that's where that Bieksa refrain came from?
  11. Schroeder with an assist in a 3-0 game vs the OKC Barons. Sweatt has two goals and both are a +2 (obviously).
  12. Schroeder with his 20th goal of the season on the PP tonight...
  13. They could sure use Jensen with Duco injured and Bitz recalled. They dressed 7 defencemen tonight...
  14. He indeed kills penalties and he has 1 assist so far tonight.
  15. Part of the reason the Canucks let Hodgson go was because in the few games he did play on Kesler's wing, it was clear there was no chemistry there and it was also clear that CoHo and his foot speed had a problem keeping up with Kesler's rockets (a problem Schroeder will never have). Revisit your theory once Schroeder gets at least the same chance Hodgson got as there has been nothing but positive vibes coming from Schroeder's camp (contrast that with all the smoke that billowed out of Hodgson's corner).
  16. NBD. It is Canucks Talk related at the end of the day and a lot of people don't bother entering this sub forum...
  17. Heck, if Buffalo has had this much success with the 5'9" 157lbs Tyler Ennis centering two big 6'3" 210lbers like Marcus Foligno & Drew Stafford surely we could do something similar with Jensen-Schroeder-Kassian...
  18. Schroeder scores his 18th & 19th goals 25 seconds apart in the second period in Abbotsford likely with Canucks brass watching.
  19. Probably once we've clinched the 2nd seed. Basically after we win three or four more games. Technically it's five wins to clinch the 2nd seed but I can't see Dallas (or any of the other 7th-11th seeds) going 8-1-1.
  20. I'm not sure if people remember all the loose pucks just layin' there in front of Thomas in the finals last year but I, for one, am glad that we now have three guys in Booth-Kesler-Kassian that will drive the net (and have the strength to get there) looking for the dirty goals on the inside. I was going crazy watching those glorious possible 2nd chance opportunities turn into easy transition breakout passes for Boston...
  21. Everyone is moaning that we lost our version of Chicago's '09-'10 Kris Versteeg (you know, that 20g 30a 50pt 3rd line player). What those people are missing are the similarities between Kassian & another member of that 3rd line that played a major role in the Blackhawks Cup win. That 6'3" 205lbs guy came in as a 20 year old (December D.O.B.) and promptly put up 11g 8a 19pts -9 in his first 25gp at the AHL level. He got recalled and put up 6g 5a 11pts & 33 hits in 29gp on the 3rd highest scoring team in the NHL that year but when the playoffs rolled around? He "only" put up 2g 3a 5pts in 17gp but he had 41 solid, heavy hits and one of his two goals was the GWG of game #2 in the Stanley Cup final. He played a big, albeit underrated, part of the 'Canes' Cup win in '05-'06. That's Kassian's floor - Andrew Ladd. His ceiling? Who knows? But if people want to throw around names like Yzerman & Sakic in the same sentence as CoHo (crazy to me - Chris Drury is more like it) then people could throw the name of Brendan Shanahan into the conversation on Kassian (just as crazy).
  22. Well, 15g 17a 32pts in 52gp and you were right about falling short of CoHo's 17g in 52gp but his shooting percentage is higher considering he's only fired 125 SOG to CoHo's 166. Good job Jordan!
  23. I'm glad to see him really starting to gain traction, and I don't mean to minimize the tear he is on, but in terms of who he's facing on the ice on any given shift these results ought to be put into perspective. He is facing #3-#4 defencemen since Rodin-Reinprecht-Mancari is the veteran #1 line and it's that line which would likely get the more difficult matchup.
