  1. Nice clutch scoring Jordan! 7g 5a in 14gp now, wowzers what a start to a career!
  2. Exactly. What sane Canucks fan cheers for a bitter rival team, who was responsible for multiple Canuck playoff exits, and their prospects? I wonder what attendance "Hockeyville" would have if the Sens had their farm team in Toronto instead of the Maple Leafs' Marlies. Heatfan, get a clue. The Heat 'stars' of today (mind you they are all our rejected 'prospects' lol) are the Canuck burning Flame players of tomorrow. Why would any Canuck fan support that?
  3. I agree 100%. Besides all that, we have two of the top proven centres in the league (Henrik as an elite #1, Kesler as one of the best #2's) locked up for the next four years. If Schroeder wants to make the team, his best bet is as a winger.
  4. Pretty much what I thought, should he not play on Sunday, and had Grabner still been with the Moose he might not have dressed until Abbotsford. Moose, however, need offense in the worst way.
  5. He's gonna need time with the systems coach before anything. Then he'll get some practice time in before suiting up. Ideally, I doubt he'd get in the Moose lineup before they play the Heat but with the Grabner call up, who knows.
  6. Yeah, Ian McIntyre said Gillis announced it during the Live Chat as well. http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/hockey/vancouver-canucks/Canucks+call+Michael+Grabner+sign+Jordan+Schroeder/2693772/story.html
  7. So the Moose, only just now deeper offensively with Stastny & Olvecky, are barely better than Lake Eerie and their NHL stripped roster? Is that his point? Isn't being 5'9" and the smallest player on your team better than being 5'9" and taller than your linemate? And lastly, his shot at Canadiana (not a spelling error), this:
  8. Yeah, but it's okay because you haven't got the slightest idea of what a good coach looks like. 2008-2009 MANITOBA MOOSE 1st in the West with 107pts, best GAA in the league and a Calder Cup Final appearance 2007-2008 MANITOBA MOOSE 4th in the West (1pt behind 3rd) with 99pts, 3rd in the league GAA and a disappointing 1st round exit. 2006-2007 MANITOBA MOOSE 2nd in the West with 102pts, tied for 3rd in the league GAA and a 2nd round game 7 exit. 308pts in 3 years, 102pts average, with top 3 GAA and a Calder Cup final appearance. It's pretty safe to assume it's just you.
  9. Just another reason, on a long list of 'em, to lock the stud up long term. The Sedins signed 3-year deals worth 8.125% of the cap when they were Kesler's age after 75 point seasons. It'd be nice if we could get a longer term, similar cap % hit. (8.125% of this year's $56.8m cap is $4.615m) Gillis has stated he wanted to change the culture of this franchise and guys with "win at all costs" attitudes go a long ways towards that. I'm almost positive he will re-sign him at anything not over $5.0m if that's what it takes to keep him in this organization. A guy like Kesler would have enormous impact on a kid like Schroeder.
  10. Ah, that makes sense. I was gonna say, then it makes absolutely zero sense to play a prospect in the NHL until he's tearing up the AHL. However, since CHL draftees can't play in the AHL until they are 20 and College players are generally aged 20/20+ when they leave their program, there is no monetary benefit to having them play in the A. Certainly for development purposes there is benefit, but not financial purposes.
  11. I don't think that's accurate. Isn't it nine professional games, meaning ECHL, AHL, NHL, basically any of the NHL's development leagues that pay you to play? However, Schroeder can sign an amateur tryout contract and play for the Moose before we sign him to an ELC which will obviously NOT burn a year off his ELC. I'm pretty sure that's what we did with Raymond at the end of '06/'07, http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8471664 ... As for his decision to leave College early:
  12. Hey Cory, good job on the blog. It's definitely not the easiest thing to do. Just a couple quick Q's, who's the resident "class clown" of the bunch? Also, did you guys get to see much the humourous side of Luc? His good friend Kris Letang has talked about him being a really funny guy once he opened up. Oh and, last Q, do you remember facing him at the WJC's in 2006? At any rate, condolences. Feel free to ignore the last two Q's if you'd rather not get into it and good luck with the rest of camp, summer, training camp!
