Agreed. Chasing the high fastballs, first pitch pop outs... ugh. -

Oh I realize that, wasn't trying to contradict you, just trying to be optimistic! And you're completely right. Gallardo has given the Jays more than they can handle for the most part. He seems fearless against the big bats in our lineup. -

Still early. Happ needs to keep it close and they'll have a shot. Hopefully Gallardo starts to hang a few pitches. -

The O's have a tremendous BP. The Jays did exactly what they needed to do, get after Gausman and get that BP some innings early in the series. -

My goodness is he ever having a horrific July. I bet he's looking forward to August more than anyone! Scary stats... and it's kind of surprising, considering he was off to a good start in April and May. June wasn't pretty and July has been an absolute abortion. -

Well, it's an afternoon game, so theres a plus. If Estrada is feeling good then you're probably cooking with fire. As for the Cards-Marlins, Leake should be able to clean up. He's 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA in three starts there. -

When Dickey is pitching "well" he still has the back-breaking bad inning. His mechanics go wonky, the ball hangs or dances out of the zone and he gives up BIG innings. One thing that should be noted (I do think some have mentioned it) is that Dickey hardly ever gets any notable run support. This is very problematic for a pitcher that routinely gives up 5+ runs. As for Stro, you're right. He's a wild card, but for different reasons. Stroman gets into trouble when he doesn't get any break on his fastball. The fact is that when you're only 5'8" you're not able to naturally create that downward trajectory. The release point isn't there. He doesn't get all his the downward movement that other big, tall pitchers can get just from their physical stature. He needs to manufacture his break by spinning the ball. When the ball isn't sinking it stays on plane with the hitters bat, and it's like playing Tee-Ball. It's a tricky spot for a smaller pitcher. If you're stuff isn't ON, you're in for a tough day. Guys like David Price, for example, can generally get enough downward movement from the initial release point (being 2 feet higher than Stromans) and don't necessarily need to have great stuff to be effective game in and game out. I love watching Stroman pitch, regardless of the results. Maybe its due to the fact that like him, I'm only 5'8". I played every sport I could and battled the giants. Watching him is like watching a modern day David vs. Goliath. Hard not to love a guy that plays with as much heart and pride as Stroman. Now when I watch Dickey pitch, I find myself waiting for him to hang a knuckler and watch it sail out of the park. Not a good feeling. -

I'd just like to add a few points here Wally. The last few years the game has really changed to a young players game. Look at the All-Star game starting rosters. I have nothing against Dickey but other than his knuckle ball, he doesn't have anything special to show teams, and if you've watched enough of his games this year (like I have) you'd see that teams seem to figure it out their 2nd time through the line-up. To make matters worse for the guy, if his knuckler isn't dancing in the zone, GOOD NIGHT! He gets hit around like a piñata at a birthday party! His mechanics have been very inconsistent this year, which have led to walks and multi-run homers. Maybe he can turn it around and have a great finish to his season, but beyond that I can't see how he's worth keeping in the fold other than maybe going into the pen. -

Do you mean "a place of employment"? Or "things to do all day"? I have a "job" that pays me, but I don't do much! -

Off day and back at it! We'll have a good shot with Estrada pitching! Hopefully his back holds up... -

It's almost to the point where Hutch is a better option for both the rotation and the pen. I applaud Dickey for his desire to play and work ethic, but you got to know when to call it quits. The scouting report on him is detailed and complete. He has nothing to show that guys aren't ready for. You sit back and wait for the Knuckle-ball to get deep and swing away. -

I don't have him on the post-season roster. There's no way you can justify him a spot. He requires optimal conditions to be effective and even then is prone to have blunders that result in big innings for the opposition. This guy can't retire soon enough. -

For the most part, Gibby does a "real gud" job of getting guys days off. However, the exception to that would be Pillar. That guy is an absolute machine. Superman is worthy of the name. -

He DH'd a few days ago. Today they're resting Tulo and Saunders. With Dickey pitching, Martin gets a day off. Bautista is hitting DH, letting Upton Jr. and Carrera start. -

I agree with Eddy looking good at first. On your point with Smoak, I can't find anything to back that up just yet, but I would have to agree based on watching most of the games this year (I haven't miss more than 10). I'll keep digging for something. -

You got that right! Like I said in my first post, I think this might be about Joey more than Michael. Could this possibly a message to Joey? "Hey, we're already looking to replace you. If you want to stay in Toronto, it's at our price and term, not yours." Or perhaps they're trading Saunders. What a great PR move that would be! Trade a Canadian that has been stellar all year. Either way, there has to be something else on the horizon. If the Jays lose Eddy and Joey next year, SH!Tpyro will be run out of town!
