I'd give Green a 6, mostly because the team he's had has been pretty lackluster so to speak. It's hard to say whether Green and Co. would be good somewhere else if he had a big fast team I could see his system thriving.
I also think that the schedule really bummed things up at the start of the season, and is going to make things awful at the end.
Losing your number one and fourth line centres, just as the team starts hitting its stride doesn't help either.
Quarantine and lack of options made this year really hard to assess the assets .
Aside from that Green has made some questionable line up decisions, and he expects a lot out of his players . He relies heavily on goaltending and scoring on the rush. Sustained pressure isn't a thing for this team, which sucks when you have the likes of Miller, Peter, Boeser, Horvat, Höglander, Hughes, Schmidt and Myers.
The powerplay looks stale, and one dimensional and yet they (he and Brown) consistently deploy the same strategy. So many turnovers, and pucks lost at the line.
Some of the players look so lost a lot of the time, simple plays become bobbled pucks and a minefield for our defense, it's almost like they need better stick handling and puck control drills.
It's weird because most the players have one or two individual skills, but the strategy for all for lines is to play like all 4 lines posses similar strengths.
But does this fall on Benning for not getting the players Travis needs, or is it that Travis can't develop a strategy that's strong enough to get the most out of his team?
So I give Green a 6, and it's strongly based on how he got the team playing in the bubble. If he comes back next year, he'd better find some better strategies and figure out how to get the best out of what he has, or both him and Benning will probably be toast.
